## What is Hold to Talk Dictation?

Hold to Talk turns speech into clean text from the iPhone and iPad keyboard. Speak naturally, insert the transcript, and keep moving without changing how you write.

Use it for messages, emails, notes, search, AI prompts, docs, quick replies, and any place you would rather talk than type. Open the Hold to Talk keyboard, start the mic, talk, then insert the result into the field you were already editing.

Why people use it:
- Fast push-to-talk dictation for everyday writing
- Works from the iOS keyboard in other apps
- Recent transcript history stays local and can be disabled
- 20 free dictations included
- Optional paid Hold to Talk Pro subscription, purchased separately in the app, includes up to 30 hours of transcription per monthly billing period
- Clear microphone, keyboard and local history controls

Hold to Talk requires microphone permission and keyboard Full Access so the keyboard can communicate with the app and transcription service.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.0.3 — 2026-10-11

Pro now unlocks the keyboard correctly after a purchase or restore. Fixed a stale Upgrade prompt and a Settings save issue that could forget the purchase ID. The mic still stays ready for five minutes by default, with timeout choices in Settings.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-10-04

The keyboard microphone now stays ready for five minutes by default, with timeout options in Settings and a fresh idle window after each completed transcription. Fastest dictation now transcribes while you speak and uses your custom vocabulary without an extra cleanup delay. Available in the app and the Hold to Talk keyboard. Medium and Most accurate remain available. This update also improves recording integrity and includes privacy-conscious install measurement; audio, transcripts, and keyboard content are never sent to Meta.

### 1.0 — 2026-09-22
