I use it to schedule aircraft and instructors, but the only way to actually find a viable time window is to use the website to open multiple windows for each resource and manually compare busy times. The entire concept is backwards. Show me available times, not busy times, then show the intersections of those available times. The app is entirely web based and uses a very slow backend. Every click or keypress is sent back to the server, so it takes minutes just to enter your reservation. You inexplicably HAVE to enter a comment for every reservation or it does a round trip to the server (slowly) and then rejects the reservation with a pop-up dialog you have to click the button on. Then you click on the comment field, wait for the server, type your comment (usually “aaa”), wait for the server, then submit again. And finally, the absence of an iPad version is notable for all the pilots who use their iPad as a kneeboard. ### 1/5 — Buggy app *2024-10-12, version 2.1.19* The app hangs all the time and won’t update. Spinning wheel with no action. Close the app and reopen and still does the same. Is it talking to server and timeout? Or something similar? Have to go to website URL all the time to complete or change appts. ### 2/5 — 3 things *2024-03-10, version 2.1.18* If the app: Let you set a repeating schedule Had iOS calendar integration Had different layout options for the schedule (to see all planes and instructors) I’d rate it 5 stars ### 1/5 — Still an absolutely garbage scheduling software *2024-03-07* After having the developer respond saying “not a lot of real feedback, please be more descriptive. I think you’re just having a bad day” heres my review on a good day: App slow and unresponsive. Booking an instructor as a pilot does not have it show up on the instructor schedule which is a bad design. Use flight circle or flight schedule pro instead. **Developer response:** Updated response: "App slow or unresponsive" - We are not seeing this in our reports. You'll need to send us a video of your user experience for us to debug. "Booking an instructor as a pilot does not have it show up on the instructor schedule which is a bad design." You indicated that you had an issue where a new student didn't have an account. We have two other solutions for this: 1) you can ask your administrator/owner to enable the "No Pilot Required" option. This will allow bookings without pilots selected. You can add yourself as an instructor as normal. 2) your admin can add a generic student account that can occupy the Pilot field. For instructions on how to do this, contact our support. ### 1/5 — Terrible program *2024-02-23, version 2.1.18* I have used flight circle for years at two different locations and it’s awesome and easy to use. Holdshort is the exact opposite. It is just terrible and difficult to use ### 5/5 — The latest update is now working fine *2024-01-03, version 2.1.17* Thanks for the quick update fix. I can now add myself as the pilot. ### 2/5 — The latest update is not working properly *2024-01-01* Using the app now since the latest update, I can no longer make myself the pilot. It’s saying pilot not selected, and it won’t give me the option to make myself the pilot. **Developer response:** Hi - Thanks for your feedback. Thanks! ### 1/5 — An absolutely garbage scheduling software *2023-11-29* I cannot begin to describe the poor design of this app. From software decisions that make it frustrating at best and unusable at worst, to the clearly idiotic scheduling design, even if this software was free to use, I would tell you to take your business somewhere else. I have the unfortunate luck to work at a flight school who uses this application, and have now no-showed a student due to the way this application is set up, and I am furious. Would you, as an instructor, like to see your full schedule for the day in one place? Well tough luck! Because not only can you not put just an instructor in an airplane, when just an instructor is in an airplane, it doesn’t come up in your instructor schedule. Have an introductory with a new student who doesn’t have an account? Well hope you remember it when it comes up because there is no way to put it on your schedule. Only use an ipad for your flight training? This app is hilariously poorly design on that large screen. Go ahead and download it onto your tablet for a laugh. What to change your reservation with two taps? Even IF it lets you attempt to change it, you get a 1/5 chance that it actually went through and updated on the system. And this is all from an instructors stand point, JUST WAIT for a student trying it for the first time. You think teaching them stalls is difficult, just wait til you have to explain them what a resource is. Bottom line. This app is pathetic and needs a year of work to get running. Quality of life is just the beginning, making the app work in the first place should have been done years ago. And this is all just for this mobile application, you’ll have to experience the horrible desktop version on your own.
