### 4/5 — Endless mode too hard?

*2026-05-19, version 1.0.10*

I find it very difficult to get to the next color scheme in endless mode. I find myself wondering if there’s a bug in that mode that’s making it harder than it should be. Why can I keep collecting coins? Is there a final upgrade that I’m missing?

### 4/5 — 4 star because…

*2025-09-12, version 1.0.10*

This game leaves a bit to be desired. I paid the full price thinking it would be very in depth and unfortunately it was not. I won’t hate, because I’ve had a lot of fun playing it! If you see the preview of this game and think it’s for you, it likely is! And for what it’s worth, it is that game minus the ads that most mobile games have. I paid full price, and mind you, it’s a full quality game for the price, BUT, I wish there was more to it. 4 planets (stages/levels) is not enough. I could see a lot more out of this game, and I’ll keep it downloaded to my device in hopes that more content comes soon. I fully upgraded and “beat” the game in roughly 3 days, if not less.

### 4/5 — Muy divertido

*2025-02-10, version 1.0.10*

Buen juego, muy entretenido ir excavando y mejorar para llegar más hondo y así poder pasar a otro planeta. Muy cuidado gráficamente y en rendimiento.

### 4/5 — Been playing for years

*2024-10-28, version 1.0.10*

Pretty good fun if you like this type of thing. It says as you go so you can play for One round or we can play for two hours.

The missing star is because it’s a very limited. They’re only so many levels and then endless mode and that’s it. There’s no real variety or, interesting replay value except to pass time on the toilet

### 3/5 — Super fun, want more

*2024-08-13, version 1.0.10*

I’m ok paying a bit of $$ for a fun game, and this is that. But it took only a few days of playing to 100% the game. I know I can keep trying to dig deeper on the final level but there's not much motivation to keep playing. Would love more levels and more upgrades.

### 4/5 — Addictive & satisfying game, but overpriced

*2024-03-04, version 1.0.10*

positives:
- in overall is a well-designed game.
- great graphics and artstyle.
- pretty addictive dan satisfying, definitely a one-more-game certified.
- the upgrade cost is very generous. though on higher level of the upgrade-level, we have to replay earlier stages to afford it.

 mixed:
- the only replayablity value in this game lies in the last stage, which is an endless stage.

negatives:
- i beat all the stage (except the endless one) in just 4 hours 10 minutes. for this amount of content vs the price of usd 3.99, its falls into overpriced category. for this price, definitely won't hurt if you guys can add more content or at least more mode(s).

### 4/5 — fun gameplay, horribly balanced late game

*2024-01-26, version 1.0.10*

once you reach the endless mode it is not balanced at all, definitely needs a rework.

### 4/5 — Can we get abandoned a mission?

*2023-12-21, version 1.0.10*

I’m trying to chase down a friend on the scoreboard, but I’m stuck doing the mission. I started instead of restarting a different one. Why is there no way to abandon a game?

### 3/5 — New color scheme sucks!

*2023-11-29, version 1.0.10*

Bring back the color schemes you had before this latest update. The game was perfect before you decided to change the colors for no reason. Now it just hurts the eyes.

### 3/5 — super konzept 👌

*2023-10-11*

aber das spiel ist super schnell durchgespielt und man landet in einem unendlichen level ohne sinn/ziel ☹️

### 5/5 — Great concept

*2023-08-12, version 1.0.7*

Great simple concept that can be very addicting and endearing. I still play it even though there has been no development in a couple years. They totally could monetize this game with just some tweaks to gameplay and development of challenges, achievements and levels. Please jump back in on this game!

### 4/5 — Simple little game

*2023-03-21, version 1.0.7*

Simplistic, charming graphics, a cute worm (?) in the bottom corner of your screen and fun music and sound effects makes this a very enjoyable game. Unfortunately, it doesn’t take long to beat it and once you’re finished there isn’t much to do except for the endless level at the end which gets boring pretty fast.

### 5/5 — Might we have more?!

*2022-07-09, version 1.0.7*

Might we have more levels please. A lot more!

### 5/5 — Love it!

*2022-01-02, version 1.0.5*

My absolute favorite mobile game.

### 5/5 — Great fun if you want some mental exercise!

*2021-09-16, version 1.0.5*

Holedown is a simple puzzle game that balances your own strategic thinking skills against run-based roguelite progression systems to create a casual, yet very fun and fulfilling experience. The gameplay, which is best described as a hybrid between Breakout and Tetris, allows you to dominate the game the more you use your brain, while also making things easier via upgrades between runs if/when you find yourself struggling. It’s a very smooth and addicting game loop that never grows stale for the duration of the game.

It’s worth far more than it’s minuscule asking price, and easy to recommend.

### 4/5 — Please add some more complexity to endless mode

*2021-07-23, version 1.0.5*

Something like an ability to use crystals as bombs, so that the later endless modes are more interactive/complex

I know there is basically no financial incentive for something like this, but it’d be cool if you did some more support c:

### 4/5 — Cooles Spiel.

*2021-07-13*

Ein Stern Abzug dafür, dass ein laufendes Spiel nicht beendet werden kann.

### 5/5 — Infinite replayability

*2021-02-27, version 1.0.5*

I have never reviewed an app before but I give this one five stars because I genuinely feel proud to own and play it. It’s so simple, satisfying and tricky to master that it makes for a perfect timewaster. I’ve logged many hours, reset my progress many times, and always keep coming back.
I’m hopeful for a sequel with added features but for now this is a rock solid ball blaster that is easy to play and fun to master.

### 4/5 — Good but need more levels !

*2020-12-13, version 1.0.5*

I love this game but I wish there were more levels and that we could do multiplayer. It’s a good game but it’s lacking in other areas. Not sure we get our moneys worth.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — New colors are trash

*2023-12-01, version 1.0.10*

I used to love this game. It’s a great time waster without being too addicting and requires low commitment. However, they just updated the colors of the blocks and they are terrible. I wish there was a way to change back.

### 1/5 — No Restar Button

*2020-05-06, version 1.0.5*

Yes, the game is kind of addictive, but there isn’t a restart button, which means that you have to finish the current game your playing, so if by accident you select a planet, star, planetoid or whatever you have to finish the current game or lose on purpose. If you want more balls, more moves or another level, again, you need to finish the current game or lose on purpose. But the worst happens when your current game freezes, kind of. Everything is still working but the ball freeze; so you can change the settings turn off the music, the sound, the language but you cannot restart the game, no matter if you close the game, even if you turn off your device, the game is unplayable. Your only option is to reset the game, which means that you will lose all your progress and achievements, you have to start all over again.

### 1/5 — No iCloud Sync

*2019-09-20, version 1.0.3*

I really loved this game but upgraded my iPhone twice in the last two years and lost all of my data because you removed iCloud save sync. Idiotic.

### 1/5 — Lost all progress

*2018-09-25, version 1.0.2*

So, while I appreciate the irony of losing all my progress to the update that was supposed to fix this.... lost all progress.

Thanks for the sfx off button I guess? :(

### 1/5 — iPhone X

*2018-09-23*

Poor quality on the X. And the app is not optimized for the hole screen!

### 1/5 — Fun, but I continually lose my progress

*2018-09-05, version 1.0.1*

This has happened four times now. I will get all the way up to the final level. I will make some serious progress (we’re talking up to 800m). I will go away. I will come back with no gems, on the first level with 2/3 balls. I will have blocks coming at me from the final level (200+ hits required). Of course, I lose. I lose all my progress.

This game is engaging but I cannot recommend this to anybody with the constant save losses.
I have had the game less than three weeks and lost my progress four times. From the last level! Heartbreaking.

### 1/5 — Nice little game and poor execution

*2018-09-01*

It is a nice little game, the kind you pick up for a 10mn session. The progression is fun... until you just launch it one day and realise it has been reset entirely without warning. Back to zero. So instead of enjoying that little game, you post a bad review to warn other people about the bug. And then you shake your head and delete the little game because you don’t feel like redoing it all from scratch. Poor UX, pity, hope the devs fix it.

**Developer response:** I'm so sorry! This save wiping bug required a very specific sequence of unlucky events to line up, but I did find it and fix it in the latest update. Again, I'm very sorry!

### 1/5 — No Replayability

*2018-08-30, version 1.0.1*

This game has a few well constructed levels, which are fun enough. Once you beat them, though, the game unlocks an "endless" mode, which is presumably meant to be the primary method of play.

This mode is essentially broken, and was pretty clearly added as a hasty afterthought. The randomly generated blocks will frequently put you in unwinnable situations, which can be frustrating if you don't like being penalized for things out of your control.

Maybe the developer will address this flawed mode in the future. But as of this writing, I cannot recommend playing this game for more than the brief introductory levels.

### 1/5 — The Honeymoon is Over

*2018-08-23, version 1.0.0*

Once you take it to the deep space “infinity” stage (obviously because they couldn’t come up with anymore planets) you get to enjoy 4-ball games because 90% of the time the game was over when it started. Not sure why they’re doing that. Obviously if you stuff the gap solid there won’t be many long games.

My chief gripe at this point is that they need to give you an “end game” button to hurry the inevitable a little. Disappointing. This game had so much potential. Don’t even bother with the “infinity” stage. There are no more achievements forthcoming.

### 2/5 — Not worth the money

*2020-06-02, version 1.0.5*

Its a solid game but there is barely any content for having to pay 4 dollars for this game

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Worth every penny

*2026-02-26, version 1.0.10*

There’s a sort of charm and chillness I really like about this game, it’s very polished and just feels like a good vibe. Very impressive one person developed this well done!

### 5/5 — Maybe the best game

*2025-12-05, version 1.0.10*

I spent 6+ hrs playing this on a plane once. Awesome casual game that is relaxing and strategic at the same time. Well done!

### 5/5 — Best time killer. Addictive

*2025-08-24, version 1.0.10*

This game is a great way to pass the time. I got it before a family trip and it made waiting for everyone to be ready to leave the house a breeze. No more bad moods. It’s also addictive. One week into the vacation we were all playing and competing for best scores or least shots on levels. Passed all the levels and keep playing them over and over. Wish they released more.

### 5/5 — Great fun game until you reach the green planet

*2025-05-23, version 1.0.10*

The pieces you must remove from the field start coming in with much higher numbers than you're able to clear in time before they reach the top of the screen. No matter how many balls per shot you upgrade to, you never get them at the beginning of the game; it seems you have to aquire them during the current game. This seems more difficult than the Android version.

### 5/5 — Let’s go

*2025-01-27, version 1.0.10*

I got a 1K golden badge on my little guy because I reached 1000m depth on the black hole mode and now the hundreds of hours spent are all worth it

### 5/5 — Curiously Addictive

*2024-11-26, version 1.0.10*

Have always enjoyed this game, but for a while I’d shelved it because I’d played the campaign through and had a high score in the infinite stage that I just couldn’t beat. (I swear it was updated with a physics fix that made it just slightly more challenging in being just slightly more accurate/removed one tiny seldom triggered bug/whatever it was.)

I came back to it after a few years to find my one wish — that the infinite stage could be made more colorful along with showcasing the other music from other stages — had been implemented!

These days I use it as a kind of software toy, not expecting I’ll EVER beat my high score (though it’s fun to try). I just like the chaos that can sometimes be found in creating a particularly good shot that happens to be both acyclic and yet a very long path. I compete not on depth but try to see how many “touches” (times bullets hit the bricks) with every shot. Which happens to be good strategy for winning but is a much harder thing to compete with oneself at. And thinking of it now ad a software toy, it takes the edge off the inevitable crash and need to reset progress.

Basically, rethinking how I approach the game the second time I’ve come to it to play, it’s turned it into a go-to fidget toy. And I love that…

It might not be everyone’s favorite, but it’s a neat twist on the old “Breakout”-type gameplay, and for me it’s surprisingly rewarding in repeat gameplay.

### 5/5 — Great game but will there be any higher levels?

*2023-12-23, version 1.0.10*

Very simple but very enjoyable game. I have reached the uppermost level and I am wondering if there will ever be any other levels.

### 5/5 — Stellar

*2023-11-30*

Through the years, Holedown has remained the single game installed on my phone. You can see and feel the creator’s craft in every detail: music, animation, humour, attention to minute detail.

### 5/5 — Love the game except for the little mascot

*2023-11-27, version 1.0.10*

I love this game and play it addictively. I would even love the little tic-tac shaped mascot in the corner except for his comments when you tap him. Why do his comments make him out to be such a tankie? Maybe his comments need a re-do.

### 5/5 — One of my all-time favorites

*2023-11-23, version 1.0.10*

An excellent source of Dopamine 😅 The sounds and feel are perfect an almost perfect block breaker game
