### 2/5 — Fix Your App

*2021-07-09, version 1.4.5*

Every since the last update the app runs sloooow and lags. Hardly ever connects to it now and constantly having to refresh or clear data. iPhone 11 Pro here.

### 3/5 — Removing features

*2020-12-08, version 1.4.5*

Have the ultimate 300 string lights and loved them last Christmas because you could make your own custom patterns but that option has been removed from the app this year. Pretty disappointing. That was my favorite feature.

### 1/5 — Having a lot of issues

*2020-12-05, version 1.4.5*

Had spot lights and glowing orbs out for Halloween- a few issues but overall good experience. Put up almost 10 strings of C6 today for Christmas... they are not responding at all to the app- they are currently three different colors (r,b,g) but they do not adjust when I change them

### 1/5 — Group page doesn’t work in this version

*2020-12-03, version 1.4.4*

None of the buttons work on the Group tab now so I can’t change the colors that were working on my Christmas tree strands

### 1/5 — Absolutely Terrible

*2020-12-03, version 1.4.4*

I am assuming if you’re downloading this app you have already purchased lights that are “controlled” by it. If so, return the lights. Do not hang them up and expect them to work as intended.

First off, one strand of icicle lights has a broken light right off the bat. Another strand of C9s has one light that constantly stays the wrong color. But that’s not the bad part.

This app will not control your lights as you expect. The app constantly has issues seeing the strands online. If it does, it won’t control them like it should. Changing settings, clicking things like “test” or “confirm” does nothing.

The whole reason I got these very expensive lights was under the promise of being able to “sync” the strand together. It very rarely, if ever, allows you to do this. If you try to group the strands together and set an order, one of the following things will happen: 1) it simply won’t let you group them 2) you can group them but you can’t set the “order” of the lights to sync them properly 3) you can set group and order but you can’t confirm or test the settings so nothing changes 4) the first three don’t happen but when you confirm the lights don’t actually go in order and some strings might run at the same time or out of order.

On very rare occasions it actually works like it should — usually taking 30+ minutes of messing around, switching settings, turning the lights off and on, and restarting the app and trying again. Oh, and you’ll have to do this every single night because as soon as the lights go off and you turn them back on you’re back to ground zero.

Tl;dr Do NOT use these lights and this app. You will regret a very expensive purchase.

### 1/5 — One star too many!

*2020-12-02, version 1.4.4*

This app it is ruined with all the summer updates. This app needs a manual to navigate. Any of the buttons in settings don’t work. How am I supposed to change direction if the app doesn’t work? How am I supposed to use the lights at all? You had some little glitches last year and you had all summer to fix. Have you tested the lights after updates? You had one job to do! Big fail on your part and never buying again.

### 2/5 — Bulbs out

*2020-12-02, version 1.4.4*

These lights are good, I put them up on our flag pole and it only took a week for 2 bulbs to go out . So I unplugged it and plugged it back in and 13 out of the rest were out. So then I replugged it back in and it was the same as last time but with only one bulb out. The quality of the lights are bad

### 2/5 — No as advertised

*2020-12-02, version 1.4.4*

No timer. Loses program. Have a light out in main spot of house. They are nice lights if you program every time you turn them on.

### 1/5 — The app is not working

*2020-12-02, version 1.4.4*

I cannot make my own theme, and cannot find this option with the latest version. Able to do this in the older version. Why you remove this features, you should add, not remove!!!

### 1/5 — It’s really awful

*2020-12-01, version 1.4.3*

Like another reviewer I have the Show Tree from 2019. I was able to get the app connected without too much trouble. But it appears to only have a direct connection so the only way to control the tree is to be on the same WiFi network as the tree. I keep all my iot devices on their own ssid so to control the tree I have to switch my phone over to the iot network to turn it on and off daily. The app appears to have a timer function but to access it I have to update the firmware. This is an impossible task. I’ve tried numerous times and the upgrade has failed every time. This causes the tree to reset and you have to go through the connection process again. I recommend that is you want a wifi controlled tree you’ll save yourself a lot of time and frustration by getting a Twinkly tree. Their app and tree work flawlessly.

### 1/5 — No ability to schedule

*2020-11-30, version 1.4.3*

The app does not give you the ability to set a schedule for when you want your lights to come on and off. You can turn them on and off from the app and set a timeframe for them to turn off, but you have to do that every day. Seems like it would be a pretty simple function to implement. Without it, the app is pretty useless for me. I’d have to buy a smart plug to really use the lights properly.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2020-11-28, version 1.4.3*

So I picked up a Show Tree last year (2019), and failed to get it to connect ever.

This year I was able to get the app to connect to the tree (it will only do it within 5’ of my WiFi router) but not all features are available or respond. I get a firmware update message, but it fails to update the firmware every time, causing everything to need to be reset and start over.

I was going to look for other lights to match this, but I will find another option. It’s not worth it.

### 1/5 — Terrible app.

*2020-11-28, version 1.4.3*

I am sick and tired of hardware manufacturers putting out lousy apps as an afterthought. This app is a perfect example. It is impossible to figure out and it doesn’t do half the things it is supposed to. It doesn’t even use English properly. It keeps telling me “no any show device.” Then it connects to the device. I can’t figure out how to turn them on and off, and I need a ladder to unplug them. I guess they will just have to stay on day and night. I really thought I was going high tech with these expensive lights, but it turns out I could have spent less money and gotten a better result with almost any other product.

### 2/5 — When it works, it’s great

*2020-11-25, version 1.4.3*

But that’s like 50 percent of the time. Had no problems with these lights last year. Bought a bunch more this year and the apps just keep saying server busy and nothing happens. Big let down give the price of the lights themselves. Please help troubleshoot developers!

### 1/5 — Me

*2020-11-25, version 1.4.3*

Just keeps saying server unavailable... horrible app.

### 1/5 — Stay away from these lights

*2020-11-19, version 1.4.3*

We have bought these 100 a light for years. The app is no long compatible with legacy lights. So you have to buy new version. Chase control and sequential lights are no longer applicable even tho it was prior to this new app

Do not support them and demand your money back from Home Depot

### 1/5 — The app is junk

*2020-10-26, version 1.4.3*

The app is nearly worthless. The concept is very good but the app is so poorly written it’s nearly impossible to use.

You can’t name different strings of lights. You have to just remember that C18F is over the window while B3D7 is around the door. Solution: allow user to enter custom names for each string when adding it.

You can’t name groups. Once you’ve figured out which hex numbers you want in which group, you then have to remember that group2, for example, is the garage. Solution: allow users to enter custom names for groups.

Once you’ve created groups of Bluetooth devices, any settings you make are not reflected when you go to control individual strings. Solution: changes made to a single string should be shown when viewing that same string in the group settings and vice versa.

There’s no way to sort the names of the strings, not in the main list, not in the group list. Given that they’re all named obscure hex numbers, being unable to sort them makes them nearly impossible to actually use. Solution: allow users to drag names in lists and group lists so the user can show them in any order they like.

The settings for making patterns like waves flow from one string to the next are a colossal cluster f_ck. It’s impossibly tedious since every light has a ransom hex name, is displayed in a random order, and you can’t even access the relevant page without constantly switching between light strings. Solution: throw away the existing code, fire the developer and hire someone that actually can design UI code.

There are no custom patterns. These lights are expensive and display lots of colors, but I can’t pick, say, 3 specific colors I want to use? Solution: allow the user to create their own custom color groups. (It should go without saying that the user should ve able to assign names to these groups. Don’t just give then more random hex number names)

Oh and what’s this nonsense about 2018 vs 2019 devices? The user does not care, not need to care, about whatever internal design changes you’ve made. Solution: the app should look for and manage all variants seamlessly without burdening the user. Of course, this is where the (junior, inexperienced) dev objects, “but but they don’t support the same features!” Obviously, the correct answer is to manage this internally and disable options that don’t apply to specific lights.

There are at least three places I can set colors: on the light, in the group, and in the effects settings (setting wave direction, for example.) changes made in one are not reflected in the others. Solution: again, throw out this existing UI and start over. Seriously: think about the workflows the user will perform:

1. Add a light to the system (and give a human readable name)
2. Add a light to a light group. (And give it a human readable name)
3. Create a custom color group. (And give it a human readable name)
4. Apply a color group to a light group
5. Apply an effect (wave, blink, etc) to the light and configure attributes like direction and which light follows which other light.

Setup and configuration following those workflows would be clear and concise as opposed to the convoluted mess the app currently implements. With a decent app, this could be a 5 star product. The current app is barely usable, though.

### 2/5 — GREAT APP, HOWEVER

*2020-10-22, version 1.4.3*

This is a great app for my LED lights, however I do have a suggestion that would let me give this 5 stars! I suggest that you make the intensity able to be amped up even more than it is, its barely visible during midday. Also a realistic idea is to be able to CUSTOMIZE colors. Like adding a color wheel so you can display your own customizable colors. If these were implemented I would for sure give the app 5 stars.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — This App no longer works.

*2023-12-14, version 1.4.5*

I cannot connect my tree for the past two years.

### 1/5 — Worst app ever

*2023-11-26, version 1.4.5*

If I could give zero stars, I would. I love my lights but a waste of money since I can’t use the app to control them. Wasted money.

### 1/5 — Don’t work anymore at all :/

*2022-12-05, version 1.4.5*

So my mom has these Christmas light and I HAD the LED lights which are expensive might I say. And they don’t last 1st of all, mine literally stopped working not even a year so I got different ones. And 2nd they don’t work if it’s from 2019 (the lights) with the app. Plus now it’s 2022 and you aren’t able to login at all. It’s terrible. Please don’t waste ur time with this anymore. Also before when it actually worked it was so confusing to set timers and the light colors etc. and there wasn’t much variety of what colors and customs u were able to do so these lights are kinda just a bust.

### 1/5 — Garbage app

*2022-12-03, version 1.4.5*

If you want a simple laser light show fine, but you can’t get any holiday images like the app indicated.

### 1/5 — Broken

*2022-11-27, version 1.4.5*

You can't use any of the 2019 lights anymore as they broke the default password for the lights. Useless hunk of junk

### 1/5 — Not worth it!!

*2022-11-26, version 1.4.5*

Bought this thinking it would be neat to have something different! I was only able to get one good Christmas out of these lights!! It no longer connects as it should in the App, we’ve tried trouble shooting! Definitely NOT worth the money!! Very disappointing!

### 1/5 — Doesn't work with my tree anymore

*2021-11-26, version 1.4.5*

App wont even log in. Network time out. Very frustrating. Seems to not work anymore and app is very NOT user friendly.

### 1/5 — Poor quality lights

*2021-11-22, version 1.4.5*

The app is ok, but I have 7 boxes of lights that I cannot use because so many lights are out. Without the lights, I can’t use the app. Do not buy theses lights. I have wasted about $400. I even purchased insurance from Home Depot and they will not accept the return or give me store credit. That is how bad the lights are

### 1/5 — The App Doesn’t Work

*2020-12-25, version 1.4.5*

At first I was very excited to unbox these lights and hang them up. After downloading the app, I was very disappointed. You can only have a certain type of wifi for them or you can’t continue with anything. I’m one of the lucky people who doesn’t have the WiFi it’s asking for. The app is the only way to customize them, and I can’t even use it. I’m very aggravated and disappointed I can’t use these LED lights, they looked very cool but the app ruined it.

### 1/5 — Disappointed.

*2020-12-10, version 1.4.5*

I am disappointed with the app, i hope the developer will fix the issue. The lights will turn on by itself. Most of the time lights doesn’t sync until I reboot my device.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — GREAT LIGHTS

*2020-11-15, version 1.4.3*

These lights are great with a a lot of color selections and settings that being said you do need to have at least a 2.4 WiFi this is great if you enjoy looking at lights the only hard part in the app Is the login since you have to find the code on the box you get the lights in and it doesn’t come wit a long chord to plug to an outlet so I suggest you use an extension chord overall the lights are great

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2020-01-03, version 1.3.3*

Very nice . The people on here
Don’t know to use the app and even the so called software developer, oh I have networking experience, bunch of hypocrites. So far so good. Just patience. Software is not buggy, all People is do is complain. It’s a cool piece of technology, software and hardware combined with a mobile device. It’s basically a computer chip that allows these lights to function . Shame on the bad
Reviews.

### 5/5 — Icicle lights

*2019-12-11, version 1.3.3*

December 11th 2019 picked these up on sale at HOME DEPOT for like $35. Just got them up and running. THEY WORK GREAT! Not sure of all the negative reviews ? Haven’t tried the timer yet. All colors / features working flawlessly. Sounds like some recent updates May have helped??

### 5/5 — Best lights ever

*2019-11-27, version 1.2.7*

You need to connect to 2.4hz Wifi. This is due to the fact that 2.4 goes through wall. Most people DO NOT KNOW HOW TO CONNECT to the app, because they need to change their WiFi to 2.4 instead of it being 5hz. I am 15 years old and it’s so... easy for me to connect to the app. Furthermore, we can all politely, say that the developers try to improve the app every day by reading all of the feedback that they get from through the app. Although, the app still has some issues, like the “Firmware need upgrade” after the update. These lights are the best and the most affordable for the price.

### 5/5 — Poor ratings had me wary

*2019-11-24, version 1.2.6*

I will start by saying I am not very tech savvy, and the bad reviews of the app after we had already bought the light set had me worried. Decided to give them a try, and I dont know what the bad reviews are about. Lights are bright, colorful, and my kids love the many settings. App is working fine, able to add custom color combos, slow effects, dim brightness, all is as advertised. Only thing I have noticed is that the preset holiday color themes are not anywhere on the app that I have seen.

### 5/5 — Leaving these lights up all year!

*2019-11-15, version 1.2.1*

Downloaded the app and easily connected to the light strands. Having fun with all the settings! Wish there was more of a warm white color.

### 4/5 — Easy setup

*2020-11-30, version 1.4.3*

No issues, easy setup

### 4/5 — Connection issues

*2020-02-21, version 1.3.6*

I liked the lights at first but now it has disconnected, and everytime I try to connect it back it is say some password I have! Idk what to do please help.

### 4/5 — Really great!!

*2019-12-09, version 1.3.3*

I got these lights today at my local Home Depot for 70$ which is pretty pricey for some lights but honestly these lights are great! Idk why there are so many bad reviews but I love these, they don’t come with the sticky back which wasn’t that big of a problem so I just used double sided tape and that worked great so I didn’t have to screw them into the wall! There are many different color options and settings which makes things fun and easy.

### 4/5 — Update: working

*2019-12-09, version 1.3.3*

Update: ran through the setup again and this time it ran through comparability mode which joined the networks. No longer do I have to switch networks to control the lights and all features (including the custom mode) works!

4 stars due to I have to switch between apps (ensuring one is only open at time) to control all my ShowHome devices)

Update now gave us ability to create. However, now I can only connect to ultimate lights using WiFi direct (ap) which is annoying to use.
