I really like this app.  I haven’t read the Bible in too long of a while and I think part of the reason was because I read it like a book.  I didn’t take time to really look at and think about each verse.  I downloaded this app because I’m giving up social media and was looking for something good that I can scroll with positive feedback.  I was surprised because this literally shows the Bible 1 verse at a time. At first I was mildly annoyed because I had to scroll up for the next verse, but as I read it I found myself really taking in each verse without the pressure to move on to the next to finish the chapter.  I’ve never read the Bible this way, but honestly I really like it.

This has really helped me build a daily Bible reading habit. The developer is right: reading in this way helps take advantage of how I already use my phone. I’m scrolling, but now it’s not always on Instagram. And I have ADHD, so seeing one verse at time really helps me lock in.

This app is great. It’s simple, straightforward, and has just enough customization that it feels personal or to you. I love having the ability to just sit outside and read the Bible vs doomscrolling on socials. It’s simple, uncomplicated, and just lets you read the Bible. That’s it. This app really helps me get closer to God and spend more time with him. I have realized that even though it is the same thing, it is a lot easier for me to get in a habit of reading the Bible on this app than it is in person. The scrolling factor really helps me focus on one verse at a time instead of getting stressed from all the words and chapters on each page. One thing that could make this app better is adding the different translations like NLT as soon as possible but other than that this is the best app I have on my phone and I am very thankful to have it.

Happy New Year! 2026 is here, and this is the biggest update to Holy Scroll yet. I’ve been honest word, getting this update out the door. You will find in this version that Holy Scroll is more polished, personal, and powerful for you!

Some of What’s New in 1.2.0:
- Snowfall: Seasons change, and so does the app. Enjoy a gentle snowfall on the Homepage (it is toggleable in Settings).
- Liquid Glass: Everything feels more premium. From adding Liquid Glass and a better Splash Screen to a Bottom Drawer that properly respects your screen edges.
- Streaks & Achievements: Compete with yourself! GameCenter integration is now live to track your reading streaks and unlock achievements. It is a little "digital dopamine" to encourage you to scroll the entire Bible.
- New Translations: Added 8 new versions, including Spanish (Reina-Valera)! They are now downloadable to save storage on your device.
- Smart Font Colors: No more unnecessary extra taps. The app now intelligently detects the best font color based on your background.
- Fresh Scroll Effects: Added "Scale Scroll" and "Fade In/Out" to your Theme options.
- Refactored Search: Completely rebuilt to be faster, smoother, and actually work (oops).
