### 1/5 — Hasn’t worked for a while

### 4/5 — Huge Potential...

*2019-01-02*

I've had a HQ Home Kit for just over a year now.

The first six months were fantastic until I overloaded (apparently) a Gateway. I have two. I was sent a second Gateway for free when I had about 20 sensors connected to the original with an explanation that the Gateways cannot handle much more than I think they said 22 or 23 sensors attached. So I stopped adding sensors to that Gateway and started to connect new kit to the second Gateway.

Things were fine for a month or two when I started to notice Gateway drop outs. I didn't take much notice at first. But the frequency and length began to increase.

IT took a while but Eventually I worked out that the original Gateway had failed.

I contacted Origin and they promptly sent out a replacement at no cost.

But when I went to reconnect the smart devices to the replacement Gateway they weren't so smart.

I couldn't get anything to connect. So I contacted Origin and they informed me that every device had to be re-paired with the replacement Gateway.

All 20 of them.

The devices are now scattered all over the place from the roof to the freezer.

Then I had to work out how to reset each device.

The result is that I have only reconnected about a third of the original sensors. (So far)

There is very little documentation on how to reset the sensors.

Then last week I connected an Echo Dot 3rd generation. This one piece of tech has spurned new life into the Home HQ echo system.

The Home HQ App is not bad and slowly developing. But with an Echo Dot connected to the Home HQ system it takes the experience to another level.

The Echo Dot third generation is a game changer. It pushes all the tech aside and connects you with a simple vocal request.

The power, speed and accuracy of this mind blowing.

The technical capabilities of the Echo Dot is astonishing.

The Echo Dot gives you the connection to your environment like nothing before. Everything is just a vocal request away.

My concern now is the hardware the Origin Home HQ Gateway is constructed with. I hope Origin are about to launch some higher quality Gateway technology soon. The HQ store has not had anything to sell for over two months now. Everything is "sold out".

The longer the Home HQ Store is empty the more time we have to explore other Gateway offerings which may not be good for the Home HQ Gateways. It's becoming a very competitive market place.
