### 4/5 — Stolen name

*2022-12-12, version 2.4*

Be aware, there is a company that stole the application name, but not the quality.
Blue Plumb Software is using the name, and this app was first!
Their software is very bad. Bugs, data loss, functionality.
I guess they are trying to just make money off of the name.

### 4/5 — Needs passcode protection

*2021-07-04, version 2.4*

Great app. Please add passcode protection

### 4/5 — Very Good Inventory App

*2018-06-23, version 2.0*

Works well in combination with desktop version, which is terrific. The mobile app makes it easy to enter items while walking around the house in wi-fi range. I’d prefer some type of cloud-based approach that would allow me to work on my inventory offline. But it appears this is intended to function only as a “helper” app to the desktop application. So long as that limitation is kept in mind, this is really a worthwhile program and highly recommended. Customer service is outstanding! Very prompt responses to email inquiries.

### 4/5 — Solid app.

*2017-02-04, version 2.0*

You'll need the companion Mac app to use this app. That being said, it works as advertised. Clearly the path forward for this software is cloud-based. Right now it syncs the way most apps were syncing in 2010 - via wifi if computer is present. Cloud storage for your entire database would be a big win.

### 3/5 — Needs a boost, but free is good

*2016-05-20, version 2.0*

Best when working in offline mode - wifi connect on OS X app is buggy - "network error" messages and you lose whatever you are trying to add to inventory (developer: pls note this is a bummer).
Yet, working offline, they got it right. Your data gathering is mostly photo taking of your stuff. A quick shot, label it, and load it in to the iOS app for transfer later.
Works great for what it should do - just don't try to stay 'live' connected. If you are ready to use this as a data gathering tool - works fine.
Yet, having just paid out the $25 for OS X app and no real iOS app other than freeware is kinda lame....

### 4/5 — Not perfect, but darn close!

*2015-10-04, version 1.0.2*

I've been using this app in conjunction with the desktop version for a couple of years. It's got a nice set of features, and I've never had any issues. I've got a better handle on my stuff than I ever did before... And when I need the model number of an Item while I'm at the hardware store I can look it up through the backup app.

### 4/5 — iPad app

*2015-05-16, version 1.0.2*

I really like the layout of this app, it's simple, clean, and very accessible.

I only wish that the items have the option of being displayed in a customizable resizable thumbnail view for the mobile apps not only list view, so that its more visual this way

Love the simple and clean icon

### 4/5 — If only….

*2015-04-19, version 1.0.2*

This is a great app. Lots of detail. I particularly like the manual barcode entry. Just type in the number and the fields are populated automatically. I just wish there was a way to see all the inventory I added from my Mac on the app while it was offline.

### 4/5 — Works *almost* perfectly

*2015-03-03, version 1.0.2*

I have successfully used this iOS app to add new items to Home Inventory version 3.3.0 on my MacBook Pro, both offline and while connected over WiFi. Photo resolution is fine and can be adjusted in the Mac App preferences.

But... adding a new item using in-app barcode scan/lookup doesn't work as described. Must enter barcode manually whether or not connected to Mac App over WiFi.

Still, this is a very useful app that streamlines the home inventory process. Taking a photo and naming it creates a new inventory record immediately, without cluttering up (and languishing in) iOS Photos and iCloud. Details can be entered later at my convenience. This app will be perfect when barcode scanning/lookup works properly.

### 3/5 — Remote and photos

*2015-03-01, version 1.0.2*

Works well, but the photo portion of the app doesn't seem able to take sharp in focus images.

### 1/5 — Extremely Frustrating & Useless App

*2015-02-21, version 1.0.2*

I am going to delete this horrible app! Whenever I try to enter items, I add the name make model and so on and when I tap to save it, the name and make and model have all been erased and I get an error message that says the name cannot be empty.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Won’t connect

*2022-05-08, version 2.4*

Fairly pointless app as it won’t connect to my Mac.

### 1/5 — 3 years and still no update!

*2020-04-13, version 2.0*

Not even updated for the iPhone X from 2017...Looks like a dead app.

### 1/5 — Does not connect

*2020-03-08, version 2.0*

The app never finds any inventories to connect to.

**Developer response:** krispayne - thanks for your feedback. There are a number of things to check when experiencing network connectivity issues. If you can email us at support@binaryformations.com we'd be happy to help get you up and running with Home Inventory Remote Entry.

### 1/5 — Can't see ANY way to enter items online

*2017-03-11, version 2.0*

I thought this would be great. But if after entering A dozen items then trying to access them from my Mac, I realized that the remote entry I had done was all off line. And I can't find any way to enter items on line. So far just a big waste of time. There doesn't seem to be any useful help either.

### 1/5 — Simply doesn't work

*2016-03-24, version 1.0.2*

Won't sync with my Mac. Useless.

### 1/5 — Junk

*2016-01-24, version 1.0.2*

The osx app is nice and useful, but this iOS app is garbage.

### 1/5 — Home inventory

*2016-01-04, version 1.0.2*

This app has no known value. I can't get it to do anything. It is a total waste of money

### 1/5 — Great when it works

*2015-05-15, version 1.0.2*

Once it syncs, scanning barcodes is a breeze. The problem is that it takes many, many attempts to sync.

### 1/5 — Not satisfied

*2015-04-18, version 1.0.2*

This app does not work as described.

### 1/5 — Not ready for prime

*2015-03-01, version 1.0.2*

What a disappointment, couldn't connect to the inventory on my Mac, looking up barcodes doesn't work without that. Overall an unpleasant experience.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Love this companion app !

*2021-04-18, version 2.4*

I’ve had this companion app, as well as the main, “Home Inventory” application on my Mac and I continue to use this software. I’ve been using it for 3 to 4 years, and I can honestly say I love it.

Well done.

### 5/5 — Checked out all of the other inventory apps

*2019-09-06, version 2.0*

Of course you pay for the mac os app and use this and the backup app in concert. So far I am very happy with the fact that a) I could buy the software out right, and b) the mobile app allows for me to add everything on the go and places like the garage. These developers thought of everything and I dont have to pay monthly. You can download the pdf manual/user guide on their website. I plan on reading it because this setup is simple if you want it to be but I want to utilize the full set of features.

### 5/5 — Fantastic Resource!

*2018-01-20, version 2.0*

This desktop app makes it super easy to keep track of all of your possessions. You can upload photos, receipts, warranties, and other info you need to keep track of your possessions. You will never need to dig through your file drawers again to find a receipt. I highly recommend this app!

### 5/5 — Great companion for the best home inventory app

*2015-12-04, version 1.0.2*

I have been using "Home Inventory" for OS X since it was first released. I cannot recommend it enough. From entering your home information (build, sq footage, year built, etc) to adding items by location, type, and custom labels, and adding items with photos, receipts, dates, value, etc, it has helped to greatly determine whether my home owners insurance is adequate as it allows a multitude of report summaries that is sent directly to my agent. This remote app is fantastic. The reviews that critique it seem to either not be using it correctly or have not configured it properly. Barcode scanning is fantastic. The times it does not work are due to barcodes that are "in-house" (meaning they aren't databased outside of the company, "Restoration Hardware is a perfect example). In those case you simply manually enter the item name, model, serial number (if applicable), etc and take pics right in the app. It send the data instantly to the OS X home inventory database (make certain your computer and iOS device are on the same network and that the "Home Inventory" app "Remote Entry" is selected, this should simply show your database on your iOS device to select and begin remote scanning and entering). Once done, simply close the iOS app and fine tune your entries.

### 5/5 — Highly Recommended!!

*2015-03-21, version 1.0.2*

I've been using Home Inventory on my Mac and HI Photo Remote for quite awhile now (two years). I haven't had any problems whatsoever in any version. I find the whole system runs smooth - I open the app on my Mac, open the app on my iPhone and roam around the house scanning things into my inventory. I've only had one minor problem when I first started using these apps (so long ago I don't remember the issue) but I found the developers were very helpful in resolving the issue.

### 5/5 — Awesome app!

*2015-03-08, version 1.0.2*

I don't know what all the negative reviews are about, this app is very handy and well designed. It also syncs instantly with the Mac app. Would definitely recommend this one!

### 5/5 — Easy to use, great app

*2015-02-12, version 1.0*

I was going to ask for a way to enter details while I'm away from my PC and then they release a new version with it! This is great a great helper application to go with their full Mac application. Well worth the money (Mac application).

### 5/5 — Great app

*2015-02-05, version 1.0.1*

Great app very useful, great improvement from previous

### 5/5 — Works great

*2015-02-02, version 1.0.1*

The old Home Inventory Photo Remote did the job, but would sometimes lose its connection to my iMac. Remote Entry works great on my home network. I’ve been adding photos of my blu-rays to my inventory and haven’t had any problems.

### 5/5 — New remote entry works flawlessly

*2015-01-24, version 1.0*

I’ve been using Home Inventory for over 5 yrs and have been really thrilled with it. I have most of my household possessions cataloged and it’s helped me countless times with warranty info, etc. However sometimes when adding items with old photo remote app, computer would go into sleep mode and I’d lose all entries waiting to be updated because I’d have to re-establish connection. This version takes care of that problem completely. I just used it to add all my “valuable" Christmas ornaments that I want to pass down and will go back in now and add stories to them all (i.e. who they came from, when, etc). Handled 75 entries offline with no problem! Thanks for making a fantastic program even better!
