Please fix it so we can safeguard our data. Also, I would love to bring to your attention that the app still lacks some new features and functionalities that are making it behind the competitors. Thank you so much and wish you all the best 🙏🏻. ### 2/5 — Linking to Dropbox for Backup has failed *2026-07-12, version 3.6.5* Having upgraded my iPhone in the last month or so and migrated my data I have found that the link to back up my data to Dropbox no longer works. Have reported to Support a number of times but still no resolution. I have many years of data here and am very concerned this has still not been resolved - hence my submitting this review. I hope they are able to respond and solve this major issue. ### 2/5 — Last update has made the app less usable *2026-07-01, version 3.6.5* I bought this app over a decade ago. I loved that I was able to log my purchases and know exactly where my accounts stood. After the last update, I can’t scroll through my notes anymore. I can still use the search function. But it’s impossible to read further than 2 lines. For those who value privacy/security - this is a great option as it runs & stores your data locally, while also offering an option to transfer your data from one device to another. Easy to setup, use and I haven’t had the need to use anything else. ### 5/5 — Game changer! *2026-03-18, version 3.6.4* My wife and I share ALL our accounts…and there are a lot of them. I used to keep track of the on written ledgers, which was pretty tough to do when you have joint accounts. HomeBudget is pretty great…and it is very easy to use. The app syncs your data to DropBox and cascades any changes to the other device’s linked to your account. You card as many accounts as you want, put them categories by type, transfer funds to another account, set up manage recurring bill and payments…and more. It’s pretty easy to reconcile; however, the app could use some improvements, mostly with filtering abilities. It’d be nice to be able to Filter for expense, by reconciliation status or by amount range. ### 5/5 — Great app but need some frequent updates *2026-02-27* I have been using this application for quite a long time. This is a great App and it really helped me to manage my finances. I would like to draw developers attention in providing frequent updates like account auditing feature to sync the latest balance in each account by tracking all the income and expenses related for that account up to that date. some improvements can also be made in the GUI interface to give a fresh look to the application. I would really thank to the entire team in advance for all the efforts they have put so far in making this application and consider above new feature In future updates. ### 5/5 — The only budget assistance you’ll ever need *2026-02-18, version 3.6.4* Purchasing this app was one of my better choices. You have everything you need to keep track of your spending. I should have been keeping a budget years ago. I really like the pie chart and line charts. This budget app enables one to break down categories into useful subcategories to your liking as well as assign pictorial icons. I am completely satisfied with the ease of use. ### 4/5 — Sync issues *2026-02-12, version 3.6.4* I’ve been using HomeBudget for about 10 years now and it’s my only budgeting program. Family group share was a nightmare to figure out, the app feels and looks old and everything needs to be manually entered and nothing can be automatically sync with outside financial apps. ### 3/5 — Great app but no new features for several years.... *2025-12-29, version 3.6.4* I’ve been using this app since at least 2012. It’s very simple, easy and convenient to track your expenses and salary income, set budgets per expense and create new expense categories. On the negative side, and in order of priority, 1. There is no way to move and expense type from one category to another. For example, I have the “Restaurant” expense sub-category under the category “Personal Expenses” and I want to move it under a new category “Entertainment”. I can’t do this. I did email the app owners for this feature a few years ago and was told it would be available in an upcoming release. Unfortunately this is not the case. 2. The backup feature in this day and age should be an automatic sync (e.g. once per day) into the Cloud. If you accidentally delete the app you’ve only lost a day’s worth of input. Ad-hoc, Manual file-based backup to email is a bit 2010. 3. In general no new features or GUI updates in several years. I am not sure if the creators of this app are investing in it any more. ### 4/5 — Simple/easy to use… highly recommend *2025-12-18, version 3.6.4* Great app. Simple to use. Sync across the devices is really helpful. Features are just amazing. Sometimes simple is the best way to go. Just a small issue— when using the app on the tablet in a landscape mode the screen doesn’t scroll up when typing the description. It is not a big issue. 4.5/5 ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Not worth the buy *2026-07-23, version 3.6.5* Honestly, it seems just thrown together. The structure is nice….. but it lacks the support for Dark Mode. The developers support website is running http and not https, as a cybersecurity professional: right away, i do not trust the security. The support email I sent was not responded to. And the app itself just seems….. Blah. However they changed the whole app and now it is unusable. I can’t even use the numeric keys on keyboard to put in numbers, only their own calculator drawn to screen with a mouse. This is essential in any program with numbers. I also had years and years of data and now I can’t login, but had to start again. With this terrible number thing. I wrote them, no reply. Terrible ### 1/5 — Goodbye after 12 years. Moving to Budget Sync *2025-01-26, version 3.6.4* I’ve been faithfully using app for 12 years. Very sad to see the dev has abandoned it. The bugs have slowly collected, outdated interface, no native dark mode support and overall stagnation of feature development have caused me to search for alternatives. After experimenting with 126 alternative expense trackers, I finally found the best one: Budget Sync (by Fabian). encourage everyone looking for an alternative to move your data now. To Anishu: I want to thank you for developing this great app that I was able to use to track every cent for 12 years. You should be able to set up one budget, and should display a horizontal bar indicating the budget you set. In this case it does not work. I’ve contacted the developer at least five times if not more, they never responded. Terrible customer service. Of course they already got my money, so why should they? Never heard back from the developer after multiple attempts. I’ve been a user for 4-5 years. Disappointed in the lack of a response. Save your money and go with a more dependable app (developer). ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Glad to see the update *2026-08-01, version 3.6.5* I had been using the old version for years and was recently notified that it would no longer work with any future IOS upgrades. I looked around for another budget software, tried a few out, but nothing worked like the old Home Budget. So I was delighted when this new version was released. It is much improved over the older version. But I was wondering in future updates if you could incorporate a couple of changes. First: When you click on the check marks, they are very light. I was wondering if you could darken them up a bit more like the old version. Secondly, in the old version, I could look back over the previous months and have a quick break down of expenses and revenues for each month. It gave me a could overview of how things were going over the past year. You have the forecast which is similar, but it doesn’t look back over the previous months. I appreciate that I can make my own categories on the spending side, and the savings side. Also appreciate that it updates flawlessly across devices. However, when I noticed that it hadn’t been updated, I was concerned that it might stop being supported. So, I started looking for alternatives. Surprisingly, I found nothing better on the market. When I saw that they had recently released an update, we decided to give it another try. My wife, who manages most of our finances, is incredibly grateful for this decision. All as the Title states “Free”. Currently the App is not working! It is ALL about posting and expense to my “Miscellaneous”. I have received awesome help from support! Have received “Links” to read. I have read and none address the following: 1. How to add an additional purchase given current issue 2. How to find current Version. If I go to App and I tap open, it just opens current Expenses for 12 categories. Miscellaneous with issues. 3. I do not need “Family Sharing”! 4. Could even use the “Lite Version 5. Will to “Pay”! 6.
