Homestead Keeper is a property, garden, orchard, crop and livestock planner built for people who run a homestead, backyard farm, or rural property. It keeps your animals, garden, equipment, and supplies organized in one place. No accounts created, ever, and no cloud required to get started.  Your data stays on your devices.

I have a small homestead with a garden, chicken coop and bee apiaries. This app allows me to track and organize these areas well.  The app has a garden and orchard layout feature that is simple and flexible. It tracks animals if you have a larger homestead.

Very difficult to find an app that manages livestock, gardens, orchards, harvests, equipment, even bees - all in one place. This app is very well organized and is quite intuitive. The developer is highly responsive. New app, filling all my needs, hiccups get worked out quickly, and communication is top notch! I’ve been trying out several apps for this exact purpose, and I think I have finally found a home for my homestead!

SEASONS
A new Seasons view in the Garden tab. Browse your garden year by year, with crops, beds, harvest totals, and a timeline of everything that happened that season.

CROP ROTATION HISTORY
See what each bed has grown, season by season, so you can avoid putting the same family back in the same ground two years running.

HARVEST HISTORY BY CROP
Follow a single crop across every season you've recorded and compare how it did.

COPY LAST SEASON
Start next year's bed layout from this year's instead of an empty grid. Copied plantings arrive as plans, with no dates and no harvest data carried over. Around the new year, the app will offer to do this for you.

PLANTINGS LOG THEMSELVES
Assigning a crop to a square in your bed layout now records the planting straight away. 

MORE ACCURATE HARVEST TOTALS
Harvests recorded in different units are no longer added together. Pounds and bunches now sit on their own lines, and units that do convert, like ounces into pounds, are combined properly.

FOOD PRESERVATION UPDATE:  Food Preservation just got a big upgrade using a new Preservation History tab.

You can now create detailed preservation batch records to keep track of what you preserved, when you processed it, the method you used, quantity, recipe or source, storage location, notes, and more.

Your preservation history stays separate from current inventory, so even after the last jar, bag, or batch is gone, you can still look back and see exactly what you did.

We also made several behind-the-scenes improvements to data reliability, backup and restore, and iCloud syncing.

This update adds a complete timeline history view for every animal and makes the garden planting calendar much simpler to set up.

Animal Timeline
Each animal now has a Timeline tab that brings its whole story together in one place, newest first. It combines lifecycle milestones like acquired, born, weaned, moved, sold, and retired with the health records, weigh-ins, and breeding you already log elsewhere. Routine daily entries stay out of the way, so the timeline reads as a clear history of the moments that matter.

Quick, guided actions
Recording a sale, a move, processing, a death, or a retirement now takes just a few taps, and an animal's status updates automatically from its most recent event. A sale can also create a linked income entry, so your records and your finances stay connected.

Cleaner animal lists
Species sections can be collapsed, and you can hide sold, retired, or deceased animals from view. Nothing is ever deleted. Your historical records stay right where you left them.

Export Animal Timeline to PDF
Export an animal's full timeline, or a complete record report, as a clean PDF for buyers, your veterinarian, or your own files.

An easier planting calendar
Adding a crop to the Garden Timeline is much clearer now. The empty calendar explains where crops come from and gives you a button to add one directly. When you choose a crop, the app fills in seed, transplant, and harvest dates from your frost dates automatically, so your crops appear on the timeline without extra setup. You can also sort the timeline by planting date, crop name, or harvest date.

Along with a range of smaller fixes and refinements throughout the app.

This update fixes animals appearing under the wrong category filter. Categories now follow each animal's species. The breed picker opens directly to your animal's breeds, and custom Tag and ID fields are no longer cleared when editing an animal. Thanks for the feedback, and keep it coming!
