### 3/5 — Check Local Rates First

*2026-03-16, version 3.1.717*

I would advise anyone to shop around locally first for rates before using this app. I paid $99 for a tow all together and honk was going to charge me a base of $119 plus the trip itself, bringing it to $174 total. The app is easy to use but it does not give you the best price.

### 2/5 — No manual vin entry

*2025-06-19, version 3.1.680*

In the process of submitting information for a service appointment, the vin number is required. The ocr was unable to read the vin from the photo (2 tries) and there is no alternative way to enter the vin leaving me stuck, mid process.

### 1/5 — Too expensive and take too long

*2023-06-09, version 3.1.507*

So what they do is they charge you like 100 dollars more then they call a tow truck driver and pay them half of what they charged you it’s a scam and just makes prices more expensive while taking longer for the tow truck to arrive

It’s better just to call a tow truck from Google for the best price and fastest arrival

Bad business = HONK

### 1/5 — Only searches for someone for just a couple mins

*2023-03-17, version 3.1.496*

They couldn’t get anybody to my location after only searching for like 5 mins. This service should check for people available near you before you pay.

### 1/5 — Bait and switch

*2023-02-18, version 3.1.493*

I got a flat tire while driving. My insurance roadside assistance said it would be a long time and suggested I find another option if possible. So I downloaded this app. I was nervous about entering my credit card info before even getting an ETA, but decided to try it in order not to be waiting for hours.

I was updated in a few minutes that someone would arrive in 25 minutes. Great! I cancelled the insurance roadside call and told my friend not to come.

And then. . . less than 10 minutes before the given ETA, I was contacted that it would be more than an HOUR later. Which meant I had to start all over with a different roadside assistance, and have to dispute the charge from Honk.

Skip this app and call someplace local directly. I got someone nearby to actually come in 30 minutes. Wish I had done that in the first place.

### 1/5 — Horrible service

*2023-02-17, version 3.1.493*

I would give no stars if possible. App estimate was way off. Said 15 minutes and was closer to 2 hours. Said driver was dispatched when they hadn’t even assigned the job yet. Kept asking me how service was even though nobody had been dispatched. Lockout cost was $30 more expensive than finding a local place for lockout.

### 1/5 — Non-service

*2022-12-24, version 3.1.477*

Charged my card for a tow that didn’t happen. Within a couple of hours I had a fraudulent charge for the purchase of gift cards. Will be going a different route from now on.

### 1/5 — Don’t put in your card info!!! - charges you without approval

*2022-07-20, version 3.1.470*

As soon as I put my card information in (on a screen that explicitly says “we wont charge you yet” ) they charged my card $85.

Never got a chance to see the price or approve any order/service - they just instantly charged my card.

The app has a button to “cancel service” - button doesn't do anything it just tells you to call customer support.

Customer support never picks up - so you wont be able to “cancel” any service at all.

I really suspect this might be a fraudulent app that apple let slip through its review process….

### 1/5 — Charged me for nothing

*2022-05-25, version 3.1.470*

Charged my card in the processing stage before connecting me with anyone. Never connected me to help but still charged my debit card for NOTHING. I have to dispute the charge with my bank. Huge headache and waste of time. Don't trust the positive reviews. Sort by most recent.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — AVOID AT ALL COSTS

*2026-08-03, version 3.2.739*

Promise you a rate, driver charges 80 more, can’t say no, have to cancel the entire plan and restart and add another pending payment to your bank account just to try to get another driver and still pay $80 more than what they say again, why can’t I just ask for a different driver at the rate I was given? Super scammy. You will freeze your money in your bank account by trying to save money. Would not recommend :)

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2026-07-18, version 3.2.739*

Terrible terrible

### 1/5 — Horrible Experience

*2026-04-13, version 3.1.717*

App started out saying base is $119 for a tow. Got through everything, and that jumps to $210 without explanation. Clicked help, phone support only, clicked to call, and I got connected to someone in roadside assistance instead of support. They transferred me to support, and the automated system sends me right back to roadside assistance. Support was short and rude, as if answering the phone was a burden. If you’re a fully digital service, live chat support should be standard, and it would be nice to have clear reasons why prices double as well.

### 1/5 — Email has already been taken

*2025-11-06, version 3.1.680*

Email has already been taken

### 1/5 — Trash

*2025-10-20, version 3.1.680*

Charges more than calling a tow company

### 1/5 — 0 integrity

*2025-02-24, version 3.1.553*

This business is not good to the contractors they send out to service customers. If you value people working hard to make a living and grow a business then do not support this app buy using its service because they will screw the company contracted to go service you

### 1/5 — Worst service/ Apple needs to disable this app.

*2025-02-12, version 3.1.553*

You’re better off calling a tow company on your own. This company is a joke. A complete scam, I wouldn’t suggest using them. Reps will keep lying saying the tech is on the way, no resolution.

Apple why do you continue allowing these scam apps on your platform? Unacceptable.

### 1/5 — Leaves you with no tow and no money

*2024-05-02, version 3.1.553*

I’ve used honk a number of times now. The first time, it was fantastic. Now I’ve been burned 3 times in a row. Only attempt to book on here if you have plenty of funds on hand to cover twice the towing cost. Although the pricing on honk is quite competitive, I suspect that may be why it has become so unsuccessful. They’re lowballing the going rate of towing so much that there are no drivers willing to accept and do the work. But the biggest problem is, that honk charges you for the tow before they locate a driver. So you’re stuck waiting 3-5 days for a refund of your money. Not so bad if you’ve got plenty of funds on hand. But if you’re poor and you’re on the side of the road, be very cautious about using this service. The developers need to change this system to only placing a temporary hold on the card instead of processing it as a payment to then be refunded. My first experience was stellar. But I won’t be burned again by this company. Goodbye honk. You really let me down.

### 1/5 — Don't do it.

*2023-11-15, version 3.1.507*

A non local dispatch company took my job and then they contract it out to someone else. So by the time everyone gets their cut, it's so low the person actually doing it doesn't show up.

### 1/5 — No refund no help

*2023-10-16, version 3.1.507*

I stranded at my first appointment when my battery died, and I needed a jump. Not only did the take forever to inform that there wasn’t a provider in my area but they took my payment and still haven’t refunded it. I am contacting my bank as this is a fraudulent charge. This is very poor service and this company is a thief.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Tire change in the middle of the night on a Sunday!

*2026-06-15, version 3.2.739*

This service was a life saver, I literally had a lapse in insurance service as changing vehicles. This app provided the best price on a late Sunday night needed emergency tire change. The app kept me informed ETA of technician and service was fast and efficient
I will definitely save and share if this service is ever needed again process was seamless

### 5/5 — Help when you need it!

*2026-04-12, version 3.1.717*

Prompt response on a Sunday for a dead battery. Amazing! Most everyone else I deal with for other things could use lessons in how to provide service from these guys. They really know what they’re doing.

### 5/5 — Loved this service!

*2025-12-06, version 3.1.680*

FAST pickup. About 15 minutes. I knew exactly what the cost would be prior to pickup. No cash or CC to mess with. All payment done on the app. Easy to work with! Where have you been all my life, Honk?!

### 5/5 — Super Fast and friendly

*2024-03-27, version 3.1.507*

Easy to use the app! I called for a jumpstart, and the provider arrived about 25 minutes before the ETA I was given. He was extremely fast and efficient and friendly.

### 5/5 — Great Service

*2023-12-19, version 3.1.507*

This service saved me from being late to work. Easy to use and convenient. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Thrilled with service

*2023-11-30, version 3.1.507*

I was very skeptical about using an app I’ve never used before. I couldn’t be happier. Not only did the driver show up to jump my car very quickly but I was charged 1/2 of what other local places wanted. $95 for someone to come asap and jump my car was well worth it. Would definitely use Honk again in an emergency. Thank you!!

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2023-06-02, version 3.1.507*

Quick ,professional service. Affordable and attentive

### 5/5 — Great Service

*2023-05-12*

I had downloaded the HONK app some time back, just for those emergencies that might arise. Yesterday was my time to actually use the app and your service. I found it exceptionally easy to use and the process was organized. Each person I interacted with was helpful and pleasant. Although I just needed a jump start, the young woman mechanic had me on my way in a moment. Thank you. Beat that AAA!

### 5/5 — Best in a bind

*2023-03-05, version 3.1.493*

A little pricey, but worth it when you need someone ASAP. I needed a jump start and someone was there in 15 minutes. 10/10 would recommend using the HONK app.

### 5/5 — Worried for nothing

*2023-01-07, version 3.1.477*

After I booked and paid I THEN decided to read the reviews. The bad ones had me worried but it was too late…I had already paid 🤷‍♂️. But I was worried for nothing 🙃. It took about 3-4 minutes to pair the driver on their status page, then about 30 minutes for the driver to show up. He was typical and it was a typical experience. What was nice were the constant updates from the app. They texted me when he was close, let me track his car location (like Uber), texted me when he arrived, when he dropped it off, etc. I was there so I didn’t really need the texts, but could see why they’d be helpful if I weren’t there (which I’ve had happen in the past). All in all, just what they advertised.
