Im 14 so Im guessing you would see why that is an issue. I put my birthday in correctly and I even deleted the account and made a new one just to make sure I wasn't like accidentally putting it in wrong and im 100% sure I put it in correctly as I am 14. But like I really like this app and It was great last year and I met so many people my age but I want to experience that again without them all being wayy older than me yk? ### 4/5 — Fun & Worth the Download *2022-04-23, version 1.7.3* Honk is a fun and unique way to talk to new people online and to express yourself. I really love the real-time chatting as it does feel more personal, and it’s good fun! The app design itself is immensely pleasing and, again, allows the user to express themselves in many ways. There are a lot of entertaining and also efficient features, such as the personalized statuses. My only major concern is that it takes a rather long time to match with someone, it seems. I don’t know if this is due to relative inactivity on the app at the current moment, or if it’s a flaw with the system. If it is a flaw, I think it should be looked into. Either way it’s quite the nuisance. Other than that, definitely recommend Honk. There’s a lot of chill people on the app, which is quite a lot safer and more relaxed than other chat apps. ### 4/5 — Small issue but great app *2021-06-04, version 1.5.4* I got the app because I like having quick conversations with friends because I heard you can add people from your contacts. The only options there is when I first got the app was sign in and Sign In with Apple. They could add an option for sign up because I don’t have an account. I saw the ad for Honk on Tiktok. I still think it’s a good app to use but they should add that sign up option ### 4/5 — Cool app, a couple suggestions *2021-04-16, version 1.4.3* This app is great! I’ve been trying to make new friends, and that app does just that! The UI is clean, the app is not buggy at all, and it is easy to use. I have a couple suggestions tho. It would be nice if there was more interest. Y’all really got a lot of great interest, but lots of things are over specific while some interest are too general. Also, I think you should add Religions and Fandoms. Lastly, I think it would be nice if you could add interest filters when looking for new friends. Other than that, the app is nice and clean. Keep up the good work ### 4/5 — Good but has one big problem *2021-04-14, version 1.4.3* I love this app but I met THE NICEST PERSON EVER and we talked for over an hour on the meet friends part and then they said they had to go and we were going to add eachother and we pressed add friend at the same time and it said “you already added this person” or something like that and then I went to go send them a message saying bye and they weren’t added as a friend and now I’m really upset because I was looking forward to talking to them and now I can’t because of a bug. Considering that this app is designed to make friends I don’t think I can give 5 whole stars if a bug that can cause you to not be friends with someone even though you add them exists. Please fix this I’m literally so upset because of it I hate when stuff like this happens all I wanted was a good friend and now I can’t talk to them again. So just please please fix that bug if you can! ### 4/5 — Swaggy system in general :] *2021-03-13, version 1.4* The whole system is like a more convenient Omegle which is great for me because the only reason I never used Omegle is because I didn’t want to use my voice or face. The people I’ve talked to on there have had no bad experiences and neither have I, but there are some things that should probably be added. The first I’d recommend is like people have said before, a status system like on discord where you can’t put if you are busy, offline, online, etc. Some formatting changes for the system, like a guide for new people after they chat for the first time. Group chats would be fun, especially when you’re meeting people for the first time. ### 5/5 — Really great app for conversation *2021-01-10, version 1.0* This app really helps with the tone of how someone is texting, like I can tell how my friends feel just on how fast their typing and it cuts out the stress of sending a text because you both can see what the other person is typing. I’d say this app is good for quick conversation that you don’t want saved because everything is in real time, and it’s a good way to quickly get ahold of someone. The only downside I’d say is that there no dark theme for when you wanna text late at night, and you can’t make small group chats. ### 4/5 — Like a real conversation! *2020-12-31, version 1.0* It’s all real time, which is such a cool concept for a texting app. I hate calling people, but if I want a conversation that feels more genuine and personal than normal texting, this is it! I love how easy it is to type something and then just press the button in the bottom right to clear it. I was a bit worried since this is a new app that they wouldn’t have such conveniences, but I was mistaken. I’m also a big fan of magic words! You type something and a flurry of emojis appear. Also love how cute the symbols are for when you honk, and that the sound isn’t annoying! I hate the beeps and rings of normal notifications so this is good! My only problem is that the text bubble gets too full, too fast, and I think the text size should have an option to be lower. Also, I heard that they are working on group chats!?? Which would be really cool, but also pretty chaotic. That’s will probably be part of the fun tho, lol! If they make the text sizes adjustable I’ll make my review a 5! Happy honking ### 5/5 — Very Fresh Spin On Messaging *2020-12-30, version 1.0* This app brought a very fresh spin on messaging friends and family, and, as it is only in version 1, I can’t wait to see where it goes from here. Besides all of my mindless suggestions below the app is something new. I don’t know how to word it past what I said above. This idea is a very good one and I give praise to the team who developed it. First things first it definitely needs a dark mode. At this point dark mode is almost required for any social media app. Also another thing I would like to see is maybe a copy and paste option for magic words, so that way it is easier to apply them to other friends. This way for a word like “Hi” (wave emoji) I don’t have to retype in Hi and find the same emoji. On the topic of emojis I would also love to see the utilization of “recently used emoji” that way I don’t have to scroll to find my favorite ones. ### 4/5 — great! some suggestions tho *2020-12-30, version 1.0* love this app. super fun and great if you don’t want cluttered DMs or messages filled with stuff from months ago. i think a groupchat function would be a HUGE plus, though. maybe 4 people at max so you could do like a grid thing? something! it’d also be nice if we could pick 10 magic words to have available for us in ALL chats. there are some funny ones i always add immediately in a new chat and it’s a little annoying to have to retype them every time. other than those two things and possibly adding dark mode, it’s great! ### 5/5 — i love this! :) *2020-12-28, version 1.0* i make such good friends on here. it’s just really a whole different experience! feels like the other person is right there. nothing is saved so you can have some deep conversations and funny ones without worries of looking back at it and regretting it. i love the feature where emojis swirls all around the screen. i also love the honk feature (when you friends aren’t in the chat with you, you can just press the honk feature to get their attention!) and the changing chat colors. my personal favorite is midnight. anyways, it’s my first day on the app and i’ve already made 7 new friends! we have had rally funny conversations and it passes the time! :) ### 5/5 — very good yes *2020-12-27, version 1.0* yes it’s good oh yes well basically yes. However with this app you can see what they are saying and they have to be honest with you, or at least think before they type. I like it and it help for me to idk kinda just say what’s on my mind instead of thinking it out and not saying stuff I wanna say. Great app! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — I can’t register an account *2021-06-01, version 1.5.4* Honestly, this app looks really fun to use. The only issue I had with it was the fact that I can’t even create an account. I went through the entire process of choosing interests, pronouns, etc. but when it came to selecting my age, that’s where I hit a roadblock. I tried selecting my birthday which is over the age of 13 (their age requirement) and it gave me something saying something about me being 2002 years old, while at the same time saying “you’re too young for Honk, sorry!”. I wish I didn’t have to write this review, but I wouldn’t be doing the app any justice if I gave a fake review, completely ignoring this bug that could be fixed. ### 2/5 — Do better honk. *2022-03-07, version 1.7.3* I’ve had this app ever since I saw it on tiktok, and it honestly is and was a good app but earlier today I opened the app and it had signed me out, no big deal my phone does that all the time, but I was shocked to see that when i got back into my account that I had lost all of my friends and basically everything. I tried to refresh the app and even close and re-open it many times. But still nothing has worked and I honestly don’t know what to do. All I can say is please do better honk. ### 3/5 — it was great until… *2022-10-01, version 1.7.3* i absolutely loved this app when i first got it! but then, i realized that everyone i met on this app who were friends never really lasted long. we would talk for a day or two, exchange discords, then never talk again. it’s nice if you just want someone to talk to or if you’re lonely but if you’re really looking for a friendship, it’s not recommended from me. also, now, hardly anyone uses the app anymore. it used to have a bunch of people to match with, but now, there’s never anyone to match with. and when it does match me with someone, they always end up being like 2-3 years older than me! to the devs, i recommend advertising on tiktok again (that’s how i found the app in the first place) because the numbers have gone downhill. thanks :) ### 3/5 — Fun but a problem *2022-07-17, version 1.7.3* The app is really fun when making friends and being able to play games but it would be when u meet a friend and add them to text that the app doesn’t delete your chat and then not let u find the person again even with searching their name it acts like they just deleted their whole account very irritating.. wish it would save their info for u. ### 3/5 — Something is making me not able to use the app *2021-06-16, version 1.5.7* Every time that I join this app I always have so much fun and I really love it it’s fun and easy to make friends with but when I try to go to settings and edit my profile if I tap on my own icon I cannot edit anything it kicks me straight out of the app and I basically cannot do anything on the app so I don’t know if this is just a meet problem and if I should really be writing a review for this but even when I delete and reinstall this app it still does not work I would love if you could tell me how to fix this ### 3/5 — Major problem *2021-06-01, version 1.5.4* When i first got the app, it was great, such a great idea and i loved it. It was good for the first few days but recently my app has been stuck in a glitch or something. Everytime i try to find new people it says that there’s no one every single time. I thought maybe there actually is no one but i asked one of my friends who uses the app and they find people no problem. I tried deleting the app and reinstalling but the problem is still there. If that wasnt a problem, this would be a 5 star app for me and honestly im surprised that it hasnt blown up, its such a great app. Thank you. ### 3/5 — problems *2020-12-25, version 1.0* I love the app its such a fun way to talk to people but there are a few issues. When I leave a chat for someone to see and leave and come back later I see that the last few letters of the chat were deleted, this has happened a lot. Also notifications in the app glitch sometimes to where it wont go away, not a huge deal since exiting and opening the app again fixes the issue. Other than the issues I think theres a few things that would make the app more enjoyable. Group chats would be a really great add since only having be able to talk to one person at a time can be limiting. This one might be a stretch but I think adding a little time somewhere on someones message profile when you click them showing their timezone and what time it is for them currently would be a great add since the honk feature can be annoying for someone if its late at night. The person would see that it is late at night for them and not bother them. Adding to this another idea would be to add an ability to create an online status, i.e. "online" "sleeping" "busy" etc. etc. to show if they are busy or not. This being able to be changed by the person. ### 3/5 — Great app but- *2020-12-24, version 1.0* It’s a great app and I love it already, but I don’t like how it shows that you’re still in the chat with someone while you’re making magic words or customizing things. I miss what the other person is saying most of the time because they think I’m still in chat looking at the conversation. I also wish there was a way to set general magic words so I don’t have to keep re-binding the same words over and over for every person. Other than those two things.. this app is great. ### 3/5 — Add better support for smaller phones! *2020-12-23, version 1.0* So I downloaded this app after seeing it on TikTok and thinking it was cool, but I can barely understand what’s going on because after two lines the text goes off the screen and I can no longer see it. I’m using an iPhone SE (2016) and it would be very nice to see a scrolling feature or something of the sort added to help those with smaller phones. Other than that I think it’s a cool concept, but it’s completely unusable because of this. ### 4/5 — It’s fun and easy to use but I have one problem *2022-09-26, version 1.7.3* I’m not sure if it’s just me but it takes forever to find someone to talk too. I’ve downloaded the app yesterday and took a few tries to find someone and it was fun. Their customer support is also amazing, when I reached out to help a bug they responded in less than three hours!
