Describe what you hear, see or feel. JAX asks follow-up questions and uses your vehicle details to help narrow down likely causes. Add photos or use voice input when it is easier than typing. You can start a conversation without an OBD adapter.

Review estimated DIY and repair shop costs, difficulty, parts, tools and safety guidance before deciding how to proceed. Create vehicle-linked repair guides and follow step-by-step checklists. Save the diagnosis so you can return to it later.
KEEP YOUR VEHICLES ORGANIZED
Keep vehicle details, service history, repair records and maintenance reminders in one place. Record completed work, costs, receipts and before, during and after photos. Create PDF records and proof packs with an eligible plan.
VEHICLE LOOKUP
Use VIN lookup where supported, including US and Canadian vehicle sources, plus UK coverage. For UK vehicles, registration lookup and available DVSA MOT history are also supported. Coverage and returned details depend on the vehicle, region and data provider.
OBD-II SCANNING
Read supported fault codes with a compatible Bluetooth OBD-II adapter and keep scan evidence with your vehicle records. An adapter is required for scanning and is sold separately. Compatibility varies by adapter, vehicle and phone; AI chat does not require an adapter.
GARAGE PRO INCLUDES MECHANIC DESK WEB ACCESS
Your Garage Pro subscription also includes HoodHero Mechanic Desk, a separate workspace accessed in a desktop web browser using your HoodHero account. Its workshop features include:
• Appointment scheduling and a workshop job board
• Customer and vehicle records
• Quotes, invoices and PDF proof packs
• Technician assignment, team roles and parts tracking
• Workshop reporting and accounting CSV export
• Stripe payment links and Xero or QuickBooks Online connections where configured
These are browser workspace features; the full Mechanic Desk is separate from the mobile app. Provider integrations require eligible accounts and setup, and availability varies by region.
