## What is Hoot?

Calories in. Progress out.

Calorie tracking works. The experience usually doesn’t. Hoot is the AI-powered calorie tracker for people who have tried tracking, hated the hassle, and still believe the habit can help.

Log meals in seconds by photo, voice, text, or label scan. Hoot estimates calories, portions, and nutrition from the way you actually describe food. No endless database searches. No spreadsheet energy. Just fast logging, useful feedback, and a friendly owl that helps without judging.

Rated 4.9 stars by Hoot users.

LOGGING THAT FITS REAL LIFE

• Snap it. Say it. Type it.
Log a full meal in seconds. Hoot does the math, so you can get on with your day.

• Repeat meals in one tap
Same breakfast? Same lunch? Use Recents or save a favorite, then log it again without starting over.

• Fix mistakes by talking to Hoot
Something look off? Say “no cheese,” “half the portion,” or “this was yesterday.” Quick Adjust recalculates the log for you.

• See how Hoot got there
Review the foods, portions, and assumptions behind every estimate. Adjust anything that does not look right.

GO DEEPER WITH HOOT+

• Learn from every meal
Get a 1 to 100 Nutrition Score and a short “Hoot Says” insight on every log. See what is working and what to try next. A lesson, not a judgment.

• Understand your macros
Track protein, carbs, fat, fiber, calories, and more without turning your life into a spreadsheet.

• See your week clearly
Weekly Insights turns your logs into trends, wins, and practical suggestions based on what you actually ate.

• Track the bigger picture
Follow streaks, weight, water, calories, and nutrition over time. Connect Apple Health to sync steps, calories burned, and nutrition data.

GUIDANCE WITHOUT GUILT

Hoot helps you stay curious about your choices, not critical of them. The owl nudges. It does not lecture. Miss a day? Start again. Eat something indulgent? Log it anyway. Logging is the habit.

USING A GLP-1?

Hoot helps you track protein, fiber, hydration, and calories while your appetite changes. Hoot provides general nutrition guidance, not medical advice. Talk with your clinician about your individual needs.

If your old calorie tracker felt slow, cluttered, or judgmental, Hoot was built for you.

You eat. We do the math.
Guidance without guilt.

### 5/5 — Great app & dev

*2026-07-06*

I have been using calorie tracker and nutrition macro trackers for years. Hoot is my favorite. I appreciate the clean, intuitive approach and interface. The data is accurate. The developer is responsive and genuinely cares about the users. The ongoing changes and improvements to the app are impressive and much appreciated.

### 5/5 — Quick and easy

*2026-07-06*

So far everything seems simple and easy to use, either dictate or take a picture of the food or package

### 5/5 — Exactly what I’ve been looking for

*2026-06-24*

If you’re tired of the same ole’ boring calorie log then this is for you. It’s adorable and so helpful. The ai camera is so easy to use and very accurate. I’m so happy I found the perfect tracker. Download it. You won’t be disappointed!

### 4/5 — Great app

*2026-05-15, version 1.0.22*

Good app alternative for MyFitnessPal. Good tracking and decent AI photo logging.

However, whenever I click on “Progress,” the app crashes. ios 26.5 iphone 15 pro max

### 5/5 — Fix the done button please

*2026-05-07, version 1.09*

All the rest is good…. Done button is mostly off the screen and very difficult to select!

### 3/5 — Loving it!

*2026-05-01, version 1.09*

So easy to use! Helps me keep track of what I’m eating and gives me recommendations to enhance my diet. Haven’t gotten my calories burned tracker yet but I believe I can connect it to app to get an even better idea of how to best lose weight and maintain weight loss. I paid yearly fee and so far it’s been totally worth it.

### 5/5 — Helpful and Encouraging

*2026-04-26*

I have been using hoot for about three weeks now, and am benefitting from it. I have tried a few different apps in this space and have settled on this one. I’m looking for a tracking app to help me log meals and lose weight, but also one that guides me to eat better. Each meal you log in Hoot gives a nutrition score, and tips on how to make it better. So while my morning smoothie was relatively healthy, it could be even better with some spinach and chia seeds. Not something I didn’t know, but a good reminder. Tips are always given in an encouraging, non-judgemental manner. The daily nutrition scores are motivating and I’m trying to improve them.

The logging via photo and voice/text is pretty impressive. Occasionally it will hiccup. What is nice is that the app will show you the assumptions it used to come to the calculation. You can review that and do a “quick adjust” such as “that was not ground beef, but chorizo” or “I had two servings.” Calories and macros are updated automatically.

The developer is very open to feedback, and reached out to me personally for improvement ideas. One that I’d like to see is to make it easier to copy recent meals to today without first making it a favorite. He was in agreement and said others have requested this as well and is already under development.

This is a solid app that will only get better with time. The premium subscription is worth the price when compared to similar offerings. Give it a try! You won’t be disappointed!

**Developer response:** Burt, this absolutely made our day. Thank you for the thoughtful review and for taking the time to share what’s working and what we can improve on!

Quick update for you: the recent meals feature you asked about is live as of this weekend. You can now log a recent meal straight to today without favoriting it first. Your feedback directly shaped how we built it, so thank you for the nudge.

Keep the ideas coming.

### 5/5 — Way Better than MyFitnessPal!

*2026-03-31*

Hoot is amazing! I've used MyFitnessPal for years but Hoot is on another level. Logging food is super easy, calorie tracking is noticeably more accurate, and the insights are helpful and motivating. The interface is also really nice and easy to navigate. As a busy mom, I don't have a lot of time for apps but Hoot makes it simple to keep track of what I'm eating. I love Hoot and I highly recommend it!

### 5/5 — Finally made it easy to count my calories!

*2026-03-31*

I have struggled to get started with these types of things but this was the first app that I wanted to use. Highly recommend it.
