I was excited to use it, but by the end of the day, I regretted it. As the day went on the app got slower and slower and slower and then the back button started getting so slow I had to wait for 3 to 4 seconds before it would go back after each entry. At the end of the second inspection, I wanted to rip my hair out. I had to start just taking pictures to put in the app later. Now I’ll be spending at least an extra hour rating the app when I get home. ### 1/5 — Rolled out too early? *2025-04-26, version 3.5.0* I thought this was going to be a great update. After using this for an entire day, what was on my devise did not sync to the report. Descriptions and pictures missing from the final report. I do not think that I can get the old app back - have to use Horizon 2 for a while. ### 1/5 — Horrible *2024-08-07* This app is incredibly unstable, it crashes constantly when trying to load photos from the camera roll, freezes, and then crashes almost every hour on the hour. There has been a promise for a massive upgrade from Carson Dunlop regarding the horizon mobile app as well as many other features for well over a year and a half, to no avail. I am strongly considering dropping this software and looking elsewhere. ### 1/5 — Lagging and unreliable (update: still a bad interface please fix) *2024-01-24, version 3.0.28* This app constantly lags and won’t attach pictures without crashing. I always have to delete and re install the app. This is hard for my business. Update: Will be losing my business soon if the app keeps lagging and won’t let me attach photos without crashing. Shopping for other inspection software. ### 1/5 — Poor software for report typing *2023-11-13, version 3.0.28* Our company has been using horizon for many years now, reports turn out very nice and easy to read, but typing the report and inspecting the house using Horizon mobile app is a totally different story, every other inspection the software would just freeze or completely shut down during the work, few times a week it wouldn’t even save any photos, I usually take between 200 and 400 photos at the inspection and none of the them would be saved where it needs to be so it adds more time to type the report. Their team is aware of numerous issues and all we hear that they are working on it. New app does look nice and it’s got a lot more nice and useful features to it, but most of them won’t work, like if you try to add photo during the inspection from your photo library the app just shuts down on you, and you can try it many times it keeps doing that. I like this app less now and if it will not be resolved, we will switch to another software ### 1/5 — Has a lot of bugs. *2023-08-17, version 3.0.28* I am on a one year free subscription through my school but with all these bugs I am having, I don’t plan on renewing it. 95% of the time when I go to add a photo to any part, the app closes and I have to back track where I was. The other 5% it actually does what it’s supposed to do which is very annoying. I waste a lot of time reopening the app. Also I can’t delete photos I accidentally put in the report. When I go to add photos, I can’t add multiple photos at a time which is extremely annoying. You guys advertise that this app and program is made by home inspectors which at this point is false advertising. Not the mention the user interface on an internet browser say on a computer or laptop is even worse. I will not recommend this application to any inspector. Real time report writing sounds amazing, but the bugs are getting to be to much. The app constantly closes when trying to add photos, it will randomly add a photo to the report with no way of deleting unless you delete the entire entry, and pre written narratives won’t show up. The old one worked and This one crashes constantly. ### 1/5 — Unreliable *2025-05-30, version 3.5.5* After years of promising a massive upgrade on their mobile 3 app, it’s been nothing but a disappointment and let down. They’ve had several updates over the last couple of weeks since the launch, it is currently unusable, will not sync work orders to even start the inspection, and IF a you are able to get to that, the push sync fails every time, so you have to upload all of your photos on the back end and sort it out one at a time. ### 1/5 — Software awful *2025-05-29, version 3.5.5* I concur completely with all of the latest negative reviews in regards to the new update/new software. Carson Dunlop/horizon get these issues fixed before inspectors start to look elsewhere for new software. They have taken so long to acknowledge every time we have brought it their attention and you can see that so many users are reporting it. I have to access to work on my report. I emailed and sent chats during their posted support hours and nothing. I have 1 inspection I can complete and 4 inspections coming up with no software. If you want to look unprofessional look no further. ### 1/5 — Time To Fix These Issues *2025-05-03, version 3.5.0* Horizon, it’s time to get a team or hire someone to fix all these glitches. It is slowing down production, causing stress, and losing business. This new update is even worse than the last and having a whole week of issues (lost pictures, deleted recommendations, and VERY slow syncs and failures) and not having a solution is unacceptable. I called this week and still no fix. You will run your company into the ground if you do not get this fixed. ### 1/5 — Do not download update! *2025-05-01, version 3.5.0* Do not download the update! All of them seemed a little “clunky “ to me, to many steps to achieve what I wanted to achieve. When I tried Horizon, it felt smooth and fluent, easy to use. The feedback I get from my clients is always positive. My only issue is the lack of available templates. Horizon should have pre made ancillary templates available for use, ( Manufactured Homes, pool & Spa, etc.) My business are very busy, and it’s very hard for me to find the time to make them as professional as they should be. Overall, very happy ### 5/5 — Awesome GUIDE to keep Home Inspector in Track *2022-06-17, version 3.0.28* Excellent and versatile on-the-field APP to capture notes and observations as well as images. Awesome support to guide home inspector throughout the dwelling keeping track of all systems and details. Great cloud base software architecture that enables inspector to work in a diversity of platforms, tablet, smart device/phone and desktop computer simultaneously. Empowers home inspectors to enhance the pictures and images using the capabilities of their smart phones (iPhones in particular) to create awesome and stoning pictures and graphics that can talk to the report readers with no words. After editing images in the iPhone or smart device, images can be easily uploaded to the Horizon 3 APP or desktop platforms to insert them in key report pages and to present a powerful Summary of findings and recommendations. ### 5/5 — Fantastic improvements! *2022-02-01, version 3.0.24* This latest version of the Horizon Home Inspection software is a game changer. The ease of use, ability to modify photos on the fly and professional reports make this the top home inspection software in my book. I have been inspecting homes since 2008 and this is the third home inspection software that I have used. Third time is a charm. I tried it in 2016 and have been using it ever since. It’s a very annoying process and I hope that Horizon fixes this soon I have lost time and money using this app ### 2/5 — App crashes , will be changing to another software *2023-03-04, version 3.0.28* The app crashes 75% of the time when I try to upload photos to a comment on my iPhone. I submitted a help request a few months back and was told they are aware of it. And that’s it. They said to delete the app, reinstall it , and jump through hoops on one leg to get it to work. The app has not been updated in 9 months. What is going on at Carson Dunlop? They used to have webinars upload tutorial videos. They used to be engaged with their inspectors. I switched to Horizon last year and now I am regretting it. Something has changed and it’s disappointing. If this app problem continues, I will switch to a competitor this Spring. If they can promptly update the app and fix the crashing issue, I will edit this review.
