The only thing that's free is the download. ### 1/5 — Horrible update *2016-04-16, version 2.0* As a long time user of Horizon, I was excited for an update to the existing search function. However, the update turned a somewhat useful function into an almost unusable time soak. Because the new search function is global, I have to keep every description, limitation and recommendation in the database in mind when trying to narrow the search results to a reasonable number. Memorizing long mnemonics ("ex gl cr” for example) or adding additional partial words to the search box takes more time and thought than simply scrolling to the desired item. I am disappointed in the lack of forethought, design and (apparently) field testing that went into this update. I have continued to use the new version, hoping that the function would become more intuitive, but the truth is, inspection of a typical home takes 15-20 minutes longer when I use the new software. Horizon, please correct this horrible flaw. Otherwise, I will have to move to a more time-friendly solution. ### 1/5 — Don't bother *2016-02-05, version 1.6.4* Can't log in. Just a loss of time. ### 3/5 — Easy to use but can’t access photos *2020-07-07, version 2.982* This is definitely easier than the desktop app, but it won’t access my photos! The app has been given access, but both “camera” buttons in the app simply access the camera instead of one of them being for the camera and the other for existing photos. I prefer to write my reports after, not during, an inspection so this is very problematic. ### 3/5 — Like it BUT I don’t *2019-01-28, version 2.92* I agree with the other comment. Time is crucial in a home inspection. Also what I don’t like about it is that their is no video. Without improvements it will just become last place. Really would like to use it but theirs other software out their that set the bar real high. Sorry! I will look out for you guys in the future. ### 3/5 — Great in the field- not so great after that. *2017-08-25, version 2.6* This app works well in the field. There are a couple of things I do not like: (1) no use of arrows on mobile version (2) Can't access and upload photos from gallery. Sometimes time is of the essence on an inspection so I can't find the condition and system to take a photo on the spot. I'd like to be able to access photos while writing report on my phone. Other than that the app is great. It would get 5 stars if those two issues were resolved! ### 3/5 — Great start, needs photo annotations built in *2013-12-22, version 1.4.7* Data entry is quick, with a great interface that is color coordinated to each section. The synchronization between the web version has worked flawlessly. The only complaint is the lack of integration of Horizon Photo into the main app. There is no way to draw a quick arrow to point to a defect, but requires opening the photo again at the web app to annotate, which then negates much of the mobility benefits. ### 3/5 — Needs some work *2012-07-28, version 1.0.9* This app is a good start but it seems that I cannot sync my templates into the report before I leave for the inspection. This means it is only for data collection and then I must be careful not to have duplicate items. I will not use this if 3G is available as I m used to completing the entire report on site and reviewing with the client. This app therefore has limited use except in no signal areas or for those inspectors that complete the report at the office. ### 4/5 — Nice! ! *2012-08-03, version 1.0.9* Makes taking field data fast and easy. Nice familiar look and feel as both the Web and Desktop reporting writing application. There are some better ways to work with the photos but I can't say what that is yet. So far I use the app for I for gathering and then head to the desktop for my recommendations and photos. I like to take several photos and then choose the best ones. After taking between 25-27 photos whether you use the push option to sync or not, the app crashes, displays a black screen and takes you to the Ipads Home Screen. Only has happened with the Ipad, using the Iphone, the app works great. Purchased a new mini ipad with sufficient memory and wifi connectivity and is still a problem. Calls to support have not been unable to resolve the issue. Anyone else having this problem? ### 5/5 — Fast App *2016-03-10, version 1.6.4* This app really streamlines field reporting. As long time Home Reference Book and Horizon users we have come to expect well designed and executed products from Carson Dunlop. Horizon Mobile maintains this tradition. As a multi-inspector firm we have the opportunity to get opinions from our staff. They love Horizon Mobile! One of their few complaints about using Horizon had nothing to do with the program. It was that if there was a weak internet connection it could be slow. Horizon Mobile has solved that problem. It's fast, logical and reliable. Well done and thank you Carson Dunlop! ### 5/5 — Awesome!!! *2013-03-19, version 1.4.7* I can complete complex inspections from my iPhone, complete with photos and comments. A very nice app. It could use a few improvements with the interface to help speed the inspection process but Carson Dunlop is good about improving their products and accept input from users. It supports all the pieces of information that we require and makes it both easy to collect and to review afterwards. Syncing and offline features work perfectly and it's easy to insert photos with your data.
