### 2/5 — Terrible app

*2017-12-11, version 4.0.1*

This updated app is a total nightmare. It doesn’t remember where you’ve read to which is surely quite a basic feature. I’m on the verge of reverting to paper copies as I can’t stand having to find the page I’m on every evening!

### 2/5 — Great when it works....

*2015-10-21, version 2.3*

Most of the time this works ok, and it's good to be able to read the magazine when I'm travelling and on the frequent occasions when my paper copy doesn't arrive. However I've had several times when I can't download a copy for free (I'm a subscriber). So far haven't been give a solution.

### 1/5 — Terrible app for iPad

*2014-07-24, version 1.7*

This app is pretty terrible...it takes ages to download ...it seems to charge me for each issue even though I have a years subscription and now today it won't even open properly. Get it together H and H !!!!

### 2/5 — Nice app ruined by glitches & unreliable to download

*2014-07-09, version 1.5*

When this works, great. But it's a bugger to download, and today I can't actually get to the bloody e-magazine it insists on coming to App Store to leave a review. I wouldn't pay for this: too frustrating. Luckily I get it part of print subscription. Also awkward to navigate within app.

### 4/5 — Mostly good

*2014-04-20, version 2.0*

It looks like the print version on the page - snag is, that means it's too small to read easily, and the type is too slow to focus. Tap and zoom works ok, but I can no longer browse the whole magazine so easily, which is how I like to dip into H&H, so it's not as much of a reading pleasure as the print version. But the newsagent had sold out! So the app is a great way to make sure you don't miss it, and the extra pictures are great.

### 1/5 — Buggy and frustating

*2013-11-28, version 1.6*

Every week I have a battle to download the latest issue. It will only allow me to have one issue live at a time. I then have to remove it to download the next. For the last 2 weeks I have had to delete and reinstall the app to access the latest issue. This now doesn't work and I cannot download the latest issue.

Assuming you can actually download an issue, it's then good to use.

### 3/5 — Great when it works

*2013-10-23, version 1.6*

Lovely clear images and smooth scrolling pages that are so clear. I actually prefer the iPad version to the printed version for this reason. However, the system has inexplicably stopped downloading as part of my subscription and the monkeys at IPC just don't seem to care sending me around in circles. Enormously frustrating, because the product is so good. Please sort it out!!!

### 3/5 — Horse and Hound

*2013-09-19, version 1.5*

Not at all impressed. The page takes a while to focus, which might be acceptable, but quite often if I try to expand on the page to read an individual entry, it won't focus at all. Reading fine print is therefore quite difficult.

### 3/5 — Great when it does work

*2013-08-08, version 1.5*

Often it will forget to remember you have a subscription, asking you to buy a copy through iTunes. Good when it does work but this is only about 50% of the time. Archive doesn't go far back. If you wish to re download an old copy, it'll cost £2.49 even though you're a subscriber. H&H is owned by IPC who do don't have much control over the magazine, Quadrant do and their service is poor, staff often fob you off or are clueless to help.

### 2/5 — Horse and hound

*2013-07-25, version 1.5*

Very difficult to manipulate. Have re installed with no improvement . It freezes .

### 3/5 — Great app

*2013-07-21, version 1.5*

Wowza

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Horse and hound app

*2025-05-23, version 7.1.1*

Pretty useless app . Company needs to spend sone money on its old technology - as it is really difficult to download the weekly magazine . They want you to pay for it again even when you have a subscription. Take great care and be suspicious when dealing with Future Publishing.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2024-10-11, version 7.1.1*

Started a free trial but still can’t access the full content of the latest issue.

### 1/5 — Useless app

*2022-10-17, version 6.4*

Although having a subscription and the subscription is confirmed in the app, it keeps requesting me to pay for a current digital edition. All remedies followed without success, really not sure who to get in touch with. Very frustrating.

### 1/5 — So unreliable

*2022-10-14, version 6.4*

Would be good if it worked but is so unreliable so end up paying for magazines I can’t access to read. Have cancelled my subscription.

### 1/5 — I’m sure there would be more stars if I could get this to work!

*2021-08-17, version 6.0.20*

Driving me nuts!

### 1/5 — No results

*2021-05-11, version 5.2.0*

Taken results out of the magazine one bit i really enjoyed, as did lots of others shame.

### 1/5 — Unreliable app that stops me from reading more than once

*2020-05-18, version 5.1.0*

Whoever built this app - nice try but it’s still got bugs and UX issues. Multiple passwords to fill in to try and getting it working. Once I’ve opened the issue once it doesn’t let me read again without paying. Nobody from customer support has replied to my questions via their provided email address. My printed copies haven’t arrived for 2 weeks either - I’m going to cancel my subs as a result and get a refund for services not delivered.

### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2018-08-30, version 5.0.0*

This has caused problems several times in the past but the latest “upgrade” is a total nightmare.

It simply does not work, don’t buy and use this app. I have to give one star because it won’t allow me to leave a no star review.

### 1/5 — Rip off

*2015-12-27, version 2.3*

Why would I pay more than cover price to down load a back issue? Rip off don't bother

### 1/5 — Waste of time!

*2015-03-08, version 2.3*

Just don't bother dosent allow me to go on it

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Horse and Hound

*2020-12-19, version 5.2.0*

I am partially sighted and really enjoy having it on my iPad , as I can make the print larger.

*2015-03-10, version 2.3*

Great up to date news, from the brand you trust: relevant articles, good mix of sporting, eventing, hounding and pony club mix. "Best of British" for 'my little pony' and my avid pack of Beagles..

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2014-02-27, version 1.7*

Found this app really easy to use, new feature of the photo gallery is a great idea. Excellent value for money especially as currently living abroad.

### 5/5 — Horse and hound

Keeping me upto date while on the move means I have lots more time to read as I can manage between work hours and after...
