## What is HoshiWalk?

Your steps become a galaxy.

Every step you walk becomes energy for your ship.
At 6,000 steps you warp out and arrive at a planet no one has seen.
You are the one who names it.

A DAY OF VOYAGING
- Steps from Health become energy directly (1 step = 1)
- 6,000 to warp. Find an unknown planet and give it a name
- 800 to explore. Search it for creatures, plants, minerals and relics
- Pour energy in, and the planet grows
- Ask Siri “How many steps until warp in HoshiWalk” and hear the answer without opening the app

SIX STAGES OF A PLANET
- Barren, Water, Plants, Life, Settlement, Civilization
- Water appears on a cratered rock, green takes hold, and lights come on at night
- Reach Civilization and a lattice of light and orbital rings appear

63 THINGS TO FIND
- 14 kinds of planet, each with creatures, plants, minerals and relics
- 7 secrets that no exploration will ever turn up. They come from events in space
- The collection is a ledger of what exists, not a count of what you own

TODAY'S MISSION
- Something different happens each day
- On a meteor shower day, a star fragment crystallizes the moment you hit 8,000 steps

WHAT ISN'T HERE
- Streaks, and the breaking of them
- Comparison or ranking against other people
- Waiting for stamina to refill

The galaxy is the time you have already walked.
It is large after half a year because energy carries over.

Watching an ad gives you one extra exploration. You never have to.
Step data is read from Health and never leaves your device.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.3 — 2026-10-08

Version 2.3.

• Planets now spin
Just like the design, the surface and clouds drift slowly so each planet rotates — on the Voyage, Planet, Galaxy and discovery screens. (With Reduce Motion on, planets stay still.)

• The top panel stays put
Your current planet and the steps to the next one stay pinned at the top while the rest scrolls.

• New Settings screen (gear at the top right of Voyage)
Turn notifications and haptics on or off, get help when steps don't arrive, check your iCloud transfer, and find the terms and version.

• Boost and Time Leap (watch one ad)
Boost: energy from your steps is doubled for 1 hour.
Time Leap: collect the steps from a day you forgot to open the app, one day at a time (up to 7 days back).
Up to 3 times a day each. Neither adds steps you didn't walk.

### 2.2 — 2026-10-07

Version 2.2 — a whole new look.

• A flight-deck interface
The top of each screen shows your current planet and how many steps remain to the next one. A light travelling along an orbit and six energy cells show how far you've come at a glance.

• New Planet tab
Survey and grow your current planet with a single tap. All six growth stages are shown by name.

• When you walked today
The Voyage screen now shows your steps by hour, including your busiest hour.

• Route log and galaxy map
Your latest planets and the unknown one ahead are joined by a single route. The Galaxy is now a spiral map of every planet you've found.

• The Codex is grouped into creatures, plants, minerals and relics
• Missions now preview tomorrow's event

### 2.1 — 2026-09-26

Version 2.1.

• Ask Siri
“How many steps until warp in HoshiWalk”, “How is my galaxy in HoshiWalk”, “Observations left in HoshiWalk”. Siri answers without opening the app. Asking never spends energy or observations.

• Readable and tappable at any text size
At the largest text sizes, words on the Voyage and Mission screens were cut off, and the naming button hid under the keyboard. Screens now scroll when they don't fit.

• When you walked but your energy didn't grow
iOS 27 can drop the Health permission. We now ask again when you open the app.

### 2.0 — 2026-09-19

Version 2.0.

• Observation, for the days you can't walk
One a day, up to seven saved. Survey a planet even with no steps — it costs no energy.

• This week, looked back on
What you found, where you arrived, which planets grew. No scores, no streaks.

• Gentle reminders, morning and evening
We never tell you how many steps you're short.

• Explore straight from the Voyage screen
It said you could explore, but the button lived two taps away on another tab. Now you can explore the planet right where it tells you.

### 1.0 — 2026-09-15
