I am on my sister’s account and she purchased this one, but I can’t seem to play it because they won’t let me restore purchases on the rare occasions it does let me restore purchases. It says that this one is not purchased. But I know she purchased it because she played it all the way to completion it usually makes me wait for a long time before I can restore purchases, but it usually gives them to me eventually, but not this one ### 3/5 — Great stories but the ad system is annoying *2026-05-20, version 3.1.0* I’ve noticed that for a lot of games, the amount of times where you’ll have to leave for 20 minutes and then watch an ad to continue is ridiculous. For example, the “Life of a Mercenary” game has several moments where you’ll need to wait, then watch an ad, and then only a few screens later the same thing happens. Assuming the writer has english as a second language. It still never should have been published in this condition. 4/5 ### 4/5 — My review of My Day off Work, *2026-03-10, version 3.1.0* Hello, and thank you so much for creating this game. I have played and replayed My Day off Work many times already ever since I first discovered it earlier this year, and it has brought me many hours of joy and entertainment. It is lots of fun, and easily replayable. I do have one question, however. Is it possible for anyone to play the game, and get more than 20 or 25 points? If so, how could it be done? Any response would be appreciated. As for the rest of Hosted Games, I think it’s a great app with lots of fun and interesting stories. The new UI is awful though. *2025-11-02, version 3.0.4* Stories? Mixed in quality, but you can sus out the good ones from the previews. The new UI is glitchy, the assets don’t fit on the screen, and they’re weird disparate shapes. I have bought countless books and after the update it says that I don’t own them and I have to buy them again when I already bought them??? I tried to restore my purchases but even that didn’t work, and it just told me “restore completed, this product is not yet purchased”… ### 2/5 — 20 mins waiting time *2025-07-02, version 2.7.3* The 20min wait time is such a waste of time. You watch an ad but then it tells you to watch 20mins to continue unless you pay. ### 2/5 — Basically Choice of Games *2025-06-23, version 2.7.3* This app is essentially CoG with shorter stories 😅 I’m not totally sure what the situation is here, but Choice of games is better 🙏 ### 3/5 — Lots of interactive fiction with one big downside *2025-05-28* Hosted Games has a great variety of interactive fiction. Everyone who likes IFs is sure to find something to their liking on here. (My personal recommendation is the Fallen Hero series, regardless of one’s preference.) The omnibus is very convenient in that all your Hosted Games purchases are bundled in one app and you don’t need to switch between 10 different ones. There is just one thing I wish they would implement: a cross save system between multiple devices. I prefer reading IFs on my iPad because of the bigger screen and the always visible stat tab. However, I often find myself reading on my phone during commuting. It is really inconvenient that the “save files” aren’t shared between my devices as this means I either have to play the same IF twice simultaneously, or I’m forced to pick one device and stick to it. If the huge amount of uploaded save files would pose a potential problem, maybe you could add a system where the reader has to manually upload the save file of their choice and they can only do that for three IFs at a time or so. ### 2/5 — Review *2025-04-25, version 2.7.3* The stories used to be much much better :( ### 5/5 — Wayhaven chronicles is one of the best things I’ve read *2024-09-28, version 2.6.6* Definitely the best from the hosted games collection-I’ve replayed it several times and it never gets old. While browsing I was all the suddenly switched to Safari to a webpage set up for phishing. That kind of advertising is annoying enough, let alone they use advertisers who are malicious in nature. Not cool Hosted Games. The app is set up for people to buy their products, not sure why they need ads with that said. Seems greedy, and they aren’t screening who they advertise.
