Fun to play *2023-01-06, version 3.9.0* Great real world /virtual play experience. Whether you playing with an actual track and cars or just race virtually with the app, you will not be disappointed. Appeals to a broad age range. Connects to Id track and portals via Bluetooth. I’ve not had any connectivity problems yet with iOS platform. Would give 5 stars but Mattel has abandoned the track and are no longer making the cars that are needed for the track and portal. ### 3/5 — Refuses To Work *2022-08-09, version 3.8.0* I’ve probably been blacklisted by the App Store already, but I need to warn you that if you don’t have the Race Portal (physical, $20 item), you basically can’t play. It gives you a starter car, which is nice, but I can’t figure out how to scan an ID car I bought over a year ago, which I just opened when I got the app. But the app itself is unresponsive when I press the ‘Scan Car’ button. Please note this before you download, it could be really cool, but I myself, according to the app, does not have the proper physical items and materials to play. ### 4/5 — Great game but you have to pay *2022-07-13, version 3.7.0* This is a really great game the graphics the racing the cars but the only thing you can do is buy cars do challenges and championship’s and more but to creat tracks you have to pay to get the what I think is like around $20 and there cars which is probably like $5 and I am not saying it‘s unplayable if you don’t buy it still is playable just saying if you want more options or have like a couple $100 around collecting dust buy it. I had a synching problem because I would try to switch between my iPad Pro and iPhone…bad idea. Maybe in the future this can be addressed but I do love this game. Combining a real world toy with the virtual world is actually awesome. You’ve even incorporated augmented reality in a slightly different way than your competitor that only offers virtual cars. I think I’ll keep this on my phone for a while and go on Hot Wheel I’d hunts at local stores. ### 4/5 — great game but a problem... *2022-02-20, version 3.6.1* So i downloaded the game because I have some hotweels Id cars,and it said you can scan your cars,so I tried to scan my car and where it said scan,I clicked the button and nothing happend, i tried again, did not work, I tried it again, and when your at the lobby it shows where you can scan your car IT WOULD’NT EVEN LET ME GO THERE! I can’t use scan feature since my iPad is not compatible and I don’t have a smart track, but I like the campaign missions! One thing that would make this game better is to add a pause button! I REALLY hate it when I play a game that doesn’t have a pause button, because then if you have to do something, you can’t pause and you basically lose the level! So in conclusion, please add a pause button. I would really appreciate it if you do! ### 3/5 — Fair Game, Poor Support *2021-06-21, version 3.4.0* I downloaded this game to track my collection of cars. It is a cool concept to be able to play with virtual versions of the cars without opening them. I also bought the track so I could play with my son. The app is fairly simple in terms of racing ability. There are weekly challenges that allow you to earn more cars, but they are the same week after week. It got to the point where I was not playing much. They released an update a few weeks ago. You now have car specific challenges and daily events. It got my interest up, so I ordered the cars to play it. Before the cars arrived I started getting an invalid token error. I contacted support, but the only thing they could suggest was to uninstall the game. Since there is no way to login, there is no way to restore game progress. In fact, I don’t know how game progress will transfer to a new device. You can’t login or create your own user name in this game. Overall, the game is fun for passing time, but I would it count on being able to save your data. ### 3/5 — Love the new challenges but bring back the coins *2021-05-08, version 3.3.0* First off I like the idea of the challenges brought into the game, it brings new replay ability to the game. But however with the new update it eliminates getting coins by replaying the old levels of the game. What makes it worse is that I don’t like the idea of spending money on in game coins just to upgrade my cars. I do like some of the new ideas to the game but it would be better if I could still replay the levels to earn coins. If that were to be fixed I would appreciate it a lot ### 3/5 — Good but not great and definitely not perfect *2021-04-06, version 3.2.0* The game is nice, smooth, and always motion going on to keep me from getting bored. There just aren’t arrows to drive over like hot wheels on Nintendo 64, the track is realistic and nice but to have an option to race on a bigger less realistic track with more people would be nice. I can definitely see myself getting the better/faster cars without having to buy tokens or watch advertising, which is nice so I’m definitely happy to buy in game purchases just because I know the game is great already. The only drawback in gameplay is the balance of power. I can have a really fast 300 “pr” ,instead of horsepower, car and race a 10 “pr” car and that car will still keep up with me, doesn’t make sense but it’s not entirely enough to make me 1 star this game, so that’s why I gave the game 3 stars ### 4/5 — *lobby music plays for 10 hours* *2021-02-14, version 3.1.0* I picked up one of these hot wheel id cars, and I downloaded the game and liked it. The game is pretty good, other than the juice mechanic. I was getting addicted to this game but had to wait 49 minutes for one of my cars to refuel. I logged in the app again and saw the usual “Mattel” logo in the start of loading the app. It then transitioned into the words Hot Wheels ID with an Orange background. The regular music was playing, but it wouldn’t load. It kept on playing the song over and over again, still on the Hot Wheels ID loading screen. It does not load, and I’ve tried shutting down my phone, seeing if the app needed an update, and clearing cashe. I loaded in the app again, but was met with the same problem. Does anyone else have this problem? It’s really annoying and I want to play the game again but I can’t with the problem that I have. ### 4/5 — Great game, but... *2021-02-05, version 3.1.0* Been playing and collecting for a few months now and it’s a great game - lots of fun and reasons to keep coming back! The “rubber banding” has always been a strong influence for the opponent of this game (only way a power rating 90 opponent can keep up with a PR 2000 ID car?), but since the last update it gets really ridiculous in certain races. Races I’ve been consistently able to win against an opponent of the same PR are now randomly impossible to win, with the opponent screaming out ahead of you without using turbo in the last few seconds of the race and somehow you can’t catch up despite being able to easily catch them earlier even when they had used a turbo... on a perfect run too, no hitting the walls or missed boosts, etc.. Seems like they purposefully unbalanced the power levels, maybe so gamers didn’t get used to winning all the time? Still a fun game, but it’s becoming frustrating, especially in the Valentine’s Day pack when you play opportunity is limited by the amount of “juice” your car has, to have a noticeable lead on your opponent only for them to cruise ahead and beat you like it was the easiest thing in the world. ### 5/5 — Stolen Cars *2021-01-31, version 3.0.0* I am a 53yr Hot Wheel lover and collector. Found some Id cars in a flea market in Albuquerque NM and decided to give progress a try and downloaded the app. and the whole concept is fantastic. I love it, however, when returning home to Colorado Springs we went by a few Walmart’s in Pueblo and I brought 2 more Id cars one of which, when scanned, had miles already on it races and all. Walmart had sold me a stolen/used car. I guess people are STEALING the digital copies in the stores by scanning the codes. This is discouraging. Hope Hot Wheels finds a way to stop these thieves. However, I do like being able to scan the card/box without opening it. May move Id cars to electronic section lock boxes. ### 4/5 — About The Physical Hot Wheels id Cars... *2021-01-10, version 3.0.0* While in Target, I saw these Hot Wheels “id” cars. Looked cool, bought them, got the app. But it wasn’t what I was expecting. I don’t know what I was expecting, but not this. I like the concept on paper, but when put into action, it’s ok. You buy the id cars ($5.99 each) and connect them to your phone, to play with them in the game. The price is great, because the cars themselves are very nice, and come in a very nice box. But there’s not much to do in the game. The game itself is very fun, very polished and the graphics are great. Not to mention, I love the controls. I’ll still play the game and collect the cars, but It was just a tiny little bit underwhelming. I know that’s a strong word, but I mean it in the smallest way possible. 4.5/5 ### 4/5 — Why can’t we share *2020-12-26, version 3.0.0* So my friends and I got cars to scan for the game I scanned my first then the rest of them. I scanned mine first out of all of us and the next time I got into the game it said it got scanned by my friends and they were going to put them in their garage. I was fine with this at least my car that I scanned first was still there. It was not there. Why can’t I have the car that I scanned first I mean my friends can the cars that they scanned first, but how come I can’t have mine back. If I find it and scan it agin and it works maybe I give a different review. ### 5/5 — Suggestion *2020-12-09, version 3.0.0* I love this game it is so cool that you can take your hot wheels in you hand and put them right into a video game but... Racing with my 2 overpowered Id cars I got for Christmas. I managed to get a Lamborghini Miura, a classic batmobile, Twin mill, and a Lamborghini Centario. But when I logged in today to do the daily cup, I found that all my car data was deleted! All the cars I worked hard to get, gone. All my other progress and data was still there, but my cars were gone. I have know idea what caused this, but I could not find any information about this car data loss bug. I got frustrated and removed the game from my phone. If any of you had this problem and/or know how to fix it, please tell me! ### 1/5 — THE APP DOESN’T WORK *2022-04-23, version 3.7.0* I can’t complete daily quests with specific cars even if I own them. There is place place to report this on Mattel site and I bought the actual id cars so it’s not an in app purchase so Apple doesn’t care either. It’s a scam. Does me no good to by ID cars to use in the app if the special events doesn’t acknowledge them. Restarting app doesn’t work scanning car into garage still doesn’t register it for daily or special events. Playing on a new iPhone. And own the id car and the in app version of the car… can’t do events and can’t report problem through any link that you provide. No wonder you discontinued it. It was probably easy than making it work to begin with. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work at all *2021-01-11, version 3.0.0* The app is free...cool. It’s also a complete disappointment. Thought it would be great for kids to use on their new iPads...got them several of these $5 cars and the iPads don’t scan cars. Nothing about the game says “developed for adults”, but based on reviews, it seems like it only works on phones. I tried troubleshooting tips from other reviews, but the problem seems to be the App. Attempt to scan, and the directions just keep flashing across the screen...after a few attempts, and return to the Home Screen, the link to the scan page quits working altogether. App is also very difficult to navigate. Guess we can return the expensive cars and invest in another game for the Switch ### 1/5 — What the heck! *2020-02-17, version 1.6.2* This app for collecting and racing unique cars is terrible. I add the cars I want to my garage, but then I can only race other cars. I cannot open the garage or anything worse except scan new cars or pair with he Bluetooth track attachment. Someone at app development schools should have told your coder about the user experience. As a life long collector, that should be a larger part of the app, or make a companion app geared towards the collector. I’ve long been past the smart phone race at game, but I’m sure lounger collectors may be happy with your offering. It makes me not want to collect these one-off cars if the only “feature” is an nfc tag that lets me do nothing. ### 1/5 — Did not know a special device was needed *2020-01-11, version 1.6.0* My children got hot wheels id cars for Christmas. I downloaded the app and found out you need the special track to be able to scan the cars. The car packaging does not indicate this anywhere. Actually, the packaging leads you to believe that you scan your cars directly with your device (there is an image of a car and a smartphone where it explains you scan your car) and does not mention anywhere that the track is needed to scan the car to the app. These cars are worthless to us since we don’t have the track. ### 1/5 — All progress lost *2019-12-19, version 1.6.0* My son and I play this together and have been doing so for a couple of months. We update the app today 12/19 and find that all of his progress is suddenly wiped in the new version. He has multiple physical id cars he has bought as well as cars we got with id points and cards unlocked through races (he had completed about 500 of the 697ish that were previously available). Nice you have a Mattel account now, but it would have been nice to have warning or a way to backup prior to finding out progress is wiped. Not sure if we’re going to continue or not anymore. ### 1/5 — Update: Repetitive *2019-07-02, version 1.2.1* Car controls felt very twitchy. Every steering tap would throw the car sideways. First race I attempted took three tries to connect to opponent. Really having a hard time getting past the steering control. Update: figured out the steering. Still jerky but it’s set up more for hold it and drift than fine tune steering. Unfortunately there’s only about 4 tracks in the whole game. Got very repetitive and boring. No skill required. Race and try to upgrade your car as much as possible. Definitely felt like a ploy to try and get you to spend money for upgrades and digital cars. ### 2/5 — Eee *2023-09-04* This game is meant for children (obviously (not saying adults can’t play)). But assuming that this is a kid’s game you may want to acknowledge a few things before you get this app. First and foremost most kids won’t have a phone to always play on, so from what I find most kids have an IPad now that’s not a bad thing but it if you don’t want to spend 30-40 dollars on a launch pad that can add their ID cars then don’t. Now before you do anything this isn’t all their fault, because the ID cars use NFC which only IPhones have. But I do see a solution, if you add a Bluetooth chip in the car then it’d boost the price a few bucks but then it’d be accessible on almost any device (though the app is shutting down the first day of 2024 so they wouldn’t change the product at this point). Secondly, let’s say your child accepts the face they cannot use their car and just wants to play online. They will soon see that the game can be played freely (in this case meaning without the use of money), but the benifits of spending a few bucks are, not jokingly, about 10 times the amount of in-game currency for spending 5 bucks then playing for 2 hours. If you are fine with this then the game is just right for you if not I strongly recommend that you do not download this. Lastly, the game is closing down the first day of 2024, so this won’t make too many fun experiences. Recently I just got a new phone, so I thought I’d try out the app. It forced me to race. Okay, so a little tutorial, I get it. After the race, I decided to check out the other parts of the game. I couldn’t. The other buttons are defective, and the game forces me to race. I can’t even check out my garage, which always had a “new” tab on it, but I couldn’t check what was new. Don’t suggest this game, only get the cars for playing or display. ### 2/5 — Not Worth It Rip Off *2020-11-18, version 2.10.0* When I first saw this product I was pretty impressed, I thought this would be a cool way to play with my brothers I bought three ID cars unknowingly that you actually need a race portal which costs almost $20 I was not going to pay that money for a simple game this was getting way to complicated. plus like I said this was meant to something fun and simple to play with and you have to play like $25 in total. And if you were to buy the portal and the cars the game is pretty boring I mean there’s nothing special it’s a regular racing game the controls are weird and gets boring fast. Now there is a better option you can buy a kit and it will give you a racing track and some cars and the portal now this is actually fun until you see the price tag OVER $100 for most options. You can get some cheaper models but still those cost $50+ NOT FOR ME. (This does not involve this game)Please respond if you saw this tell buge studios lower the monthly fee down to like 5$ 60$ is over priced ### 5/5 — Awesome Game! *2021-05-20, version 3.3.0* I enjoy playing this game almost a much as I enjoy playing Need For Speed No Limits as far as mobile games go, even though you have to buy some special track or something to play the other stuff or the Car-Blueprint system, which I very much dislike, I think aside from that I really like this game. One feature that i enjoy is the hot wheels scan thing, so if your out hunting for hot wheels and you find an I’d car then you get a free car, but if you find the chase/ Treasure hunt like i did then it’s pretty much worth buying anyways because it’s a treasure hunt/ chase car. The only other complaint I have about this game is the handling, I know it’s on a track I would still prefer a like swipe down to drift system instead of turn to drift. I got the jurrasic park truck, and the hw50. It is SO worth it. There cool cars already, but you can also scan them and play with them on your phone?!😱 Its such a great idea! Ive been playing this for a while, and there are only three things i think should be added. (This part not important if your not making the game) The first one, is games with multiple cars. Two cars is fun, but if there were multiple cars racing, that would be awesome! The second one, which is probably the best idea, is friendly battles. Me and my friend both play this, and it would be so cool if we could battle each other. The third one, is online battles. It would be great if we could compete with each other online, and see our scores one the leaderboard.
