Rather annoying! ### 3/5 — Ordering *2026-05-19, version 3.6* Glitch in the page set up was hard to work around but was to sort out in the end ### 2/5 — Premium choc but basic app with no / poor service communication *2026-04-14, version 3.6* App is nice looking. More style than substance. Lets you order products but is hopeless at telling you about order processing and delivery timelines. Could do better, especially when they are at the premium end of the market. ### 3/5 — App is fine paying not so much *2026-04-08, version 3.6* I don’t have an issue with the app particularly. I found what I wanted albeit some of the filters were not great. The problem came when I wanted to checkout. I wanted to pay by credit card and I was offered the pictures to find for security at least 20 times. Ridiculous. Gave up and paid by PayPal but I shouldn’t have had to do that. ### 4/5 — Nearly gave up! *2026-04-06, version 3.6* What’s with the very American ticking boxes to actually pay for my order! Pictures blurred and difficult to see and it took several attempts to actually get it accepted. Utterly ridiculous. ### 3/5 — Good enough. But.... *2026-03-06, version 3.5* The chocolate quality is certainly much better than C**b***s but they keep something a bit quiet: the parent company is Mars, a USA based conglomerate. Why you don’t allow cut and paste into credit card numbers is beyond me. Your risk management is questionable when you have to transfer a number from a card when most card companies allow to copy their numbers on their apps. Common guys, get up with the safer 21st century ### 3/5 — Not easy *2025-11-24, version 3.4* Generally love Hotel Chocolat. I tried to access my birthday discount code but it had disappeared. Today it appeared, but nothing happened when I tried to select it! Trying to select a Velvetiser was irksome as I couldn’t bring up the colour I wanted, and had to scroll through the whole lot. Pebble which would have been an option only seemed to have a vegan selection with it? Other, selecting is cumbersome and I found myself going back and forth to find what I was looking for. Where are the bags of cocoa nibs and drinking chocolate (not the Velvetiser ones)? ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work at all *2025-10-15, version 3.4* Since the latest update the app now doesn’t work. I can see the products but cannot add anything to a basket or access my account. Ordered 5x hot chocolate boxes. VIP discount came off as expected so far so good. Signed in….how many crosswalks, traffic lights , motorcycles and buses do I need to tick and oh wait new images come up too and I have to tick them as well!! Several minutes later bingo yes it’s me! Sorry very poor frustrating sign in process. Very good hot chocolate though so I’ll let you off but the app not so good. ### 1/5 — Unprofessional *2026-08-24, version 3.6* I have used Hotel Chocolat app for many years. The app is now unusable. There’s no update for it so it not that issue. I’m not logged in, so when I do it has given me 18 clicks on a photo of bicycles and traffic lights to prove I’m a human! Absolutely absurd! There’s no point in purchasing they don’t treat you as a human to spend money. The goods I tried to purchase was for a birthday present. Worst app I’ve used in 2026. ### 1/5 — The app sucks *2026-07-20, version 3.6* Asks you to prove you’re not a robot 234 times despite already being logged in. Doesn’t give the free postage over £40 despite being an offer and still tries to charge, and you have the audacity to charge for a click and collect when I’m using my fuel to do what should be free?? Having an actual laugh. Do better. ### 1/5 — Payment options malfunction *2026-05-06, version 3.6* Wouldn’t let me pay by credit card, but would let me pay using ApplePay, which uses the exact same credit card??? ### 1/5 — Completely unusable app *2026-04-04, version 3.6* Just downloaded your app to add my card to my apple wallet and on the app I select I’m a member with a card. Then ‘no’ to do you have an online account (although I suspect most of your users actually don’t know whether they do or not, as I’m not sure whether I do). I then go to create an account and I’ve been trying for 5 minutes, quitting the app, changing the password as maybe the page isn’t accepting the one I’ve put, but your ‘register’ button is totally inactive. SO I finally give up and decide to try your website… your burger menu opens and closes right way, and the little person account icon at the top does the same thing!! I tap it briefly see sign in and register buttons but then they don’t stay on screen so no way to select either! Pretty frustrating, and I love hotel chocolate. iOS 26.3.1, iPhone 17.
