It is clear and straight forward to use. Worth upgrading to allow more accounts and keep a history. I have a number of different accounts and it allows me to keep a simple log of hours and charge rate. But........ It could do with a few tweaks to make it perfect. - allow logo upload or business name on print out / email for a more pro look. - the ability to charge a day rate to each customer would be most useful. But please don't go and over complicate the app. It's simplicity is what makes it so useable and a great app. ### 5/5 — Medical time billing made easy *2013-06-02* As a physician who has several contract jobs that require keeping up with the minutes I spend working for them I have had difficulty keeping a detailed record until I found HourBill. Now I can make a quick note of any services provided and have it ready to email at the end of every month. The ability to archive my records and back them up is very important for me. I even keep some personal accounts of people I need to pay for various services which helps me keep up with such expenses. ### 5/5 — Awesome App *2013-05-25, version 1.1.1* This app was exactly what I needed. I can track my hours and export them for billing. Wonderful app! Thank you! ### 5/5 — Best app for tracking time. *2012-12-28* I work as an independent IT consultant. I spent weeks looking for a quality app that I can keep track of the time I spend on site at a customer or performing remote support. I found HourBill and there it is. I show up to a customer, start HourBill and get along with my work. When I'm done, I go back into HourBill and input the details. Easy as that. The next thing I do is to copy the details and paste it right into the QuickBooks app and send off the invoice. At the end of the month, I email the records to the customer. Can't wait for version 2 and the support from ThorJupiter is quick and responsive. ### 5/5 — Great App *2012-12-04* Very intuitive program with well thought out features. The export function was not working so I wrote the developer. They answered me almost immediately and told me how to fix the problem right away. I let them know of a couple of features that I thought would be handy, and once again they responded almost immediately and let me know an update in the works actually already has the suggestions. They seem driven to want to perfect the program and make it as useful as possible. I am extremely impressed. I looked up their other products and will be purchasing those too. Something so well thought out is really valuable. ### 5/5 — Brilliant ! *2012-10-06, version 1.1.1* This app is fantastic , I am a self employed bookkeeper , as I work for several diff clients it makes keeping track of hours worked therefore making my monthly invoicing so much easier . Highly recommend ! And when I had probs with the iPhone upgrade recently the help responded immediately and have fixed the problem EXCELLENT SERVICE ! ### 5/5 — An exemplary App *2012-10-06, version 1.1.1* Simply put, I've never had such an effective end-user experience. I am not a "power user"-- i.e, I use the app for time management (crucial to my job), not client billable hours-- but every single suggestion I've made for enhancements has been met with either "Tell us more about how that would help you" and a change, or a clear explanation that they'd already considered that change, and why it doesn't fit with their vision for the app. In short, they treat me, the end user, with respect. Having worked on both sides of this equation-- coding customized systems for companies, and also using such customized systems-- HourBill's sensitivity to end-user experience speaks volumes about its integrity. For this reason-- and, more importantly, because the app is the most user-friendly, easiest, and intuitive time management app I've come across-- I didn't jump ship when Apple's iOS6 problems meant that HourBill crashed repeatedly. Yeah, it was a pain in the a** when the app stopped working; I rely on it. But I'd had enough interactions with the company to believe that they weren't going to abandon it. And they didn't. For the record: No, I don't work for the company, nor do I know anyone associated with it. But I've had so many lame experiences with other app developers that this one stands out as exemplary in both execution and customer service. ### 4/5 — Thanks for the Upgrade! *2012-10-06* This app has made my life easier as I juggle multiple clients! Developer is very responsive to suggestions and questions. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — rashes immediately on opening/ no response from support team *2024-02-02, version 3.2.1* i have used Hourbill for many years but it has suddenly stopped-it crashes as soon as try to open it. not having backed up for a long time ( yes mea culpa) i’m in a bad situation so far as accounting to my clients for time spent. worse is that none of my emails to tour jupier have been replied to despite my malachi showing they have been opened. their website has no phone number ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work anymore *2024-01-23* I had used this app for years to bill bookkeeping clients and loved it. Now, the app won’t even open. Please fix the bug! ### 1/5 — App stopped working without notice-lost hours *2024-01-16, version 3.2.1* The app won’t even open now on my new Iphone, everything else opens fine. I tried reinstalling the app, making sure the latest update was installed, restarting it. I’ve lost all my hours for the month for the companies I work for, did the same thing to my daughter a couple months ago. Not impressed! I have no other record of the hours I had worked for these companies. Do not chance it! ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work with system upgrade *2023-10-11* I’ve use this app for quite a few years. However, with the upgrade to iOS 17 and iPadOS 17, it doesn’t seem to work. The app opens and then closes immediately afterwards. It’s a shame, because I really liked this app and would like to continue to use it.. ### 1/5 — Backup stopped working *2015-08-28* I've used this app for a long time, but they never incorporated my suggestion / need to have sub-projects or sub categories. The last month, the backup to Google servers stopped working, meaning all my data is at risk if something happens to my phone! Am going to get a different app. ### 1/5 — Used to be easy, now just confusing *2015-07-06* Good luck figuring this app. It used to be easy and intuitive. Now it is a struggle to figure out their cumbersome UI. Not to mention they took the same app and upgraded to make it fee oriented when the same key features were free before. I don't mind paying to get more, but paying to restore capabilities is a bait and switch. ### 2/5 — Not intuitive & no instructions *2013-11-17, version 2.0* I'm getting ready to start billing my time. I'm not an accountant and frankly could have used real instructions. Not simplistic help screen that state what a field is! I can't figure out what "phrases" as in the app it appears in a few places, and what I enter never appears in the same place... How about the "append" button? Append to what? Doesn't seem to do much. Most annoying is invoices. I saw the button I email it, but can't figure out how it happened!!! I open an invoice and see nothing of its content and am not given options to email it. On the bright side, the timer works well but could use a "pause" for breaks". Presenting rates an smallest time unit is good as well as hourly rate for client/task. If I can make it work and generate email able invoices, it will be handy (specially using the time stamp for tasks), but the jury is out. Safly, with the recent iPhone update it stopped working so I’ve lost my Feb 24 data. It takes a little while to understand all the features, but I keep track of my time, costs, etc. and send invoices to clients from my phone. Traditionally I would always forget a few hours here and there as I don't always carry my note pad. I do however always carry my phone and to input is so simple and handy it blows my mind.
