## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.4.4 — 2026-10-15

New in 1.4.4:
• Calendar and Reminders: a project can sync both ways. It gets its own calendar and Reminders list in its color; entries and to-dos with a start time show as events, to-dos also as reminders, and changes go both ways, names and colors too. Events and reminders you add there come in as to-dos. Nothing deleted in Calendar or Reminders deletes anything in Hourbook: it asks what to do instead. Deleting the calendar or list stops the sync, and deleting the project warns you that its calendar and list go too.
• Work calendar: a commitment can follow one of your own calendars, such as Outlook or Google. Its meetings come into Hourbook as to-dos, and if you like, your entries are added to the calendar. Meetings you don't tick off leave by themselves after the time you choose. Hourbook never touches events made by others.
• Ticking off a to-do over time you've already logged (say, a timer run during a meeting) asks before counting that time twice.
• Colors are now shown as they are, without fading, so a project's color is the same in Hourbook, Calendar and Reminders. Your current colors look as they did.
• As you type a new entry in the list, Hourbook suggests earlier tasks, as Reminders does.
• A redesigned editor in the style of Calendar: Entry | To-do at the top and the time always in view. Time is a duration with an optional start, and the end is worked out for you. The day is picked on a calendar and times on wheels in five-minute steps.
• The time menu on an entry's card now offers 1, 2, 3 and 4 hours and a start time.
• A list with days still to come opens at today, with today's header right under the title.
• Sidebar sections start moving as soon as you long-press their header.
• A Period widget filtered to a commitment shows the commitment's projects again.
• The sidebar's ring graph separates its parts with wider, rounder gaps.
• Plus fixes and refinements.

### 1.4.3 — 2026-10-12

New in 1.4.3:
• Undo and redo: from the top of the ⋯ menu you can undo your own changes, such as adding, editing and deleting entries and to-dos, changes to projects and commitments, and the sidebar's layout. A shake and ⌘Z on an iPad keyboard work too.
• The list's title names what it shows first, with the project's or commitment's icon, and then the period. The All period is titled "All" instead of a year.
• Every list orders its rows the same way: to-dos sit among the entries by time, and a to-do stays where it is when you check it off. The To-dos list follows the chosen period too.
• A day's header shows its to-dos' time in gray after the hours done, such as (+2:00), even on days with no hours logged yet.
• −15 and +15: buttons on an entry's or to-do's card take a quarter of an hour off or add one, a tap at a time.
• Every hour count changes the same way: the digits roll to their new value in the list, the sidebar, the editor, the widgets and on Apple Watch.
• PDF reports, CSV tables and invoices group their entries by project, in each project's own color and icon, as the list does. Saved drafts and sent documents show their entries the same way.
• Widgets can follow a project or commitment as well as a period, as the app's lists do. The widget shows the chosen project or commitment with its icon, and the Period widget compares its hours with the rest of the period.
• Extra large Period and To-dos widgets: a whole page on iPhone (iOS 27), wide on iPad.
• A redesigned To-dos widget: its to-dos' total time in gray, the period and badges as on the other widgets, and "All done" when nothing is left.
• The Work time widget shows your next to-dos and your commitments' bars; the small size stacks the bars.
• Widgets show the same badges as the sidebar after the period's name: upcoming to-dos in their commitments' colors, today's and overdue ones in red and unspecified entries in pink. Commitments now show their projects' unspecified entries too.
• Widgets update faster and more reliably, also when you check off a to-do right in the widget, and their settings appear in the app's language.
• A rounded font throughout the app, the widgets, the Lock Screen timer and Apple Watch.
• Plus fixes and refinements: for example, changing an entry's date from its menu now moves it smoothly.

### 1.4.2 — 2026-10-11

New in 1.4.2:
• Faster sync: changes show between your iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch within a couple of seconds.
• Rename an entry or to-do by tapping it: the row opens into a card, as in Reminders, with quick buttons for date, time and project and ⓘ for all details. Move to another row with one tap; the keyboard stays up.
• New entry right from the list: a New entry row at the end of today adds a to-do you can name straight away. Today's day, week or month always shows its header, even before anything is logged.
• A long press selects the row, and its menu has the same date, time and project choices as the card's buttons.
• Selection mode: blue circles show the selected days, projects and entries, also on the sidebar's projects. Drag along the circles to select many at once. The menu for several rows gathers them into a stack.
• Calendar import: choose each event's project from its menu. The project an event's title names is picked for you.
• Apple Watch: changes made on your iPhone reach the Watch at once while the app is open.
• New Home Screen widgets: Work time, which starts and stops the timer right from the widget and shows the period's hours, your commitments' workload bars and upcoming to-dos; Period with your hours by project and the graph; Progress with a project's or commitment's hours and budget; and To-dos you can check off right in the widget. Choose the period in the widget's settings, All included.
• New Lock Screen widget: the timer's time shows on your Lock Screen, even when the timer was started on your iPad or Apple Watch. When no timer is running, the widget says so.
• The timer looks the same everywhere: the app's red timer pill also appears in the widget, the Live Activity and the Dynamic Island, and a tap on it stops the timer.
• Sidebar sections open and close with a tap on their header. Move a section with a long press on its header and a drag: the sections fold up while you move it. You can also swipe the graph's period name to change the period.
• Redesigned Live Activity and Dynamic Island: titled Hourbook and Work time, with a see-through background like other Live Activities and a more compact Dynamic Island. On Apple Watch, tapping the Live Activity opens the Watch app.
• Better battery life with large document archives, and smoother calendar imports.
• Plus many other fixes and refinements.

### 1.4.1 — 2026-10-10

New in 1.4.1:
• One layout for every device: the sidebar and list adapt to the window on iPhone, iPad and foldable iPhone, and the list stays in place when you fold, unfold or resize.
• New search: a magnifying glass in the toolbar. Tap the list to close it.
• Time cards: Today and Quarter join Week, Month, Year and All. Recolor, add, remove and reorder cards from their long-press menu; a card's color also shows in the graphs and the list title.
• Arrange sections: the button at the bottom of the sidebar folds the sections into handles you can move. Your sidebar layout syncs across your devices through iCloud.
• Steadier reordering of project and time cards: a card moves only once the card you drag has passed its middle.
• Calendar import: events are grouped by project. A project is picked when an event's title names it, and you can change it from the event's menu. The project's name is taken out of the entry's title, and upcoming events come in as to-dos.
• Day header times and workload bars spring into place when you add or delete entries or check off to-dos.
• Timer control in Control Center and on the Lock Screen: start and stop the timer without opening the app. It also shows on Apple Watch with watchOS 26.
• Apple Watch: the sidebar and lists as on your iPhone – time cards, quick entry, entries, projects with budgets, and commitments. The timer sits at the bottom of every screen, and the complication shows the running time. Changes from your iPhone reach the Watch at once while the app is open.
• Exported invoices, reports and CSV tables are named by invoice number or date.
• US invoices show sales tax, and distances use your region's unit.
• The back-to-current-period button now eases in, plus many other fixes and refinements.

### 1.4 — 2026-10-07

New in 1.4:
• Commitments: clients, employers, schools and hobbies in one place. Give a commitment a color its projects inherit, plus its working days and hours. An employer's work stays out of unbilled hours.
• Workload bars: day, week and month headers show each commitment's hours against its planned time, with overtime on its own red bar.
• One-tap timer: the button stretches into a running clock, and stopping saves the entry. Unnamed runs show in pink so you can name them later.
• Select entries: pick entries, whole days or projects, then change their date, project or name, mark them done, invoiced or reported, duplicate, delete, or create an invoice, report or CSV table from them. The same menu opens for a single entry with a long press.
• Tracking: choose whether a commitment tracks invoices, PDF reports, CSV tables or several of them. Entries show their status with small icons and dates.
• Invoices, PDF reports and CSV tables now work the same way: the current month by default, narrowed by commitment and project, with checkboxes for picking entries.
• The Invoices view also lists unbilled entries, and documents appear in the list like entries, showing the entries they contain.
• Rename an entry or to-do by tapping its name.
• Pinch the list to switch between day, week and month views.
• To-dos sit in their own day inside their project folders, and sidebar badges show upcoming and due to-dos.
• Deletes can be undone: projects, commitments, invoices, reports and saved tasks also wait in Deleted for 30 days.
• Redesigned sidebar with rounded cards. Project cards show a budget overrun in orange, and in red when more than 25% over.
• Apple Watch: one-tap timer, quick entry (project, task, duration) and recent entries laid out like the phone's list.
• The list opens with only the current day, week or month expanded, projects included. "Miscellaneous" is now "No project".
• iPad: the sidebar and list stay side by side even in narrow windows, and the tools appear when the sidebar shows alone.
• Much faster with large libraries (up to 100,000 entries), plus many fixes and refinements.
