I wasn’t ready to rate them yet, but it keeps trying to force me to rate. I’m messaging the plumber about some stuff that needs to be fixed related to the job I had them do, so I don’t want to rate until after I get what needs fixing fixed. The groomer we hired, NOT from the app but yelp, uses this to track where she is in route to you. Tried it every which way and it won't show us anything. Only to book a new appt. But the interface is strange anyway. Can't view an existing one. Pointless for that purpose alone. Its clunky and odd. And something about buying the developers kids new shoes. Yeah, that's just plain weird. Do not recommend entering your info. Just stay away. Oh and the service that suggested the app to me, isn't even listed as an available business. ### 1/5 — Too shady *2017-06-06, version 2.7.1* Downloaded this on the recommendation of a cleaning contractor I am working with. No way am I entering my credit card info just to create an account and check the app out, get real developers. I will be sharing my opinion with the contractors too, hopefully discouraging them from using this app. ### 1/5 — Defective App *2017-05-19, version 2.7.1* The app doesn't work on an iPhone 7. I've contacted the application host by email for assistance and didn't receive a response. The cleaning company I hired uses this app and they were unable to fix the problem either. ### 1/5 — I got gypd *2017-04-28, version 2.7.1* Don't use this app. The support email will not respond to you when you have an issue and the workers that use this app are shady. After talking on the phone and texting. I could not get the job that was not completed out of my queue. I texted with someone from the program and they said that I couldn't "cancel" a job. I had no way of rating the person who never showed up. Crappy App! ### 1/5 — Didn't work *2017-04-13, version 2.7.1* I downloaded this app at the recommendation of a heating/AC company, but it didn't work from the first moment. The opening screen asked me to rate a stranger. Period. I could not access any other screen. I deleted the app. I was hoping to use the map function to track the service person's travel to my house. It requires all personal info including credit card info before you can search! ### 1/5 — Privacy issues no customer service *2017-04-05* I'm sure this app is helpful to the small business people that use it but the developers of this app provide no way to Close your account, delete your private information, or try to remove your credit card history....when you request that from support you getting no reply at all , pathetic. beware you have no way of changing your personal or credit information or deleting your account entirely, and emailing support multiple times gets zero response. Good variety of services available, many more since launch. But the app needs updates. I never scheduled an appointment... ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Development Abandoned *2024-07-25* The developer last updated this app in 2017, which helps explain why notifications don’t work and the app crashes constantly. Regardless of its intended functionality, it’s a complete failure for customers, and therefore a failure for businesses that rely on the HouseCall system to manage customer relationships. ### 1/5 — Old, minimal features, bad user experience *2023-01-03* I used this app years ago to schedule some work and just reinstalled it to change my password. Turns out there is no way to change your password via the app. The app also forces you to provide reviews for past services, which it is now doing years after I used it to have the services performed. Every time I open the app the app force prompts me to provide feedback for past services. Additionally, the app just seems low quality overall with a very outdated interface. ### 1/5 — Amateurish *2022-09-14* Buggy with weird UX flows and looks to not be very secure. Forces you to rate service in order to proceed into the app, terms of service seems aimed at professionals if you can find it. No mention of a privacy policy, etc. The service I use this for can’t figure out how to delete unfinished jobs from months ago and the support e-mail of house call was less than useless. They responded at 5AM and were trying to converse with me over e-mail in real-time. Then when I pointed this out they told me to use the real time chat option which only exists in the Pro version of the app. Then they told me they couldn’t help me and to reach out to the company in question because I am not a paying customer. ### 1/5 — Do Not Use *2021-07-18* I actually was working with a contractor that billed me through the app. Now I’m forced to leave a rating when I don’t care to and now I can’t look for other contractors ### 1/5 — Very frustrated *2020-10-21* If I could rate a zero I would. This is the first negative review I have ever given, but this app is not functional. I’m actually considering firing my cleaning service because it is their method of scheduling and billing and I do not want to deal with this app ever again. ### 1/5 — BUYER BEWARE!! *2020-07-10* This app requires you to create an account and provide your full name, phone number, address AND CREDIT CARD NUMBER before you can use it. Then, you CANNOT cancel your account or delete your CC number. I just emailed them to request cancellation and removal, but based on prior reviews, I’m not optimistic they will respond. I wish I had read the reviews before using, as this problem has been addressed frequently by other users going back to at least 6 years ago. I worry now about the safety of my personal information and CC number! ### 1/5 — Forcing ratings is ridiculous *2019-07-09* Forcing me to give a rating on the last job to see the next one (which is actually an extension of the previous job). ### 1/5 — Credit card highjacked *2018-11-16* 1. This app will only allow you to use it if you FIRST add your credit card information 2. Customers can’t delete their credit card information 3. It’s nearly impossible for customers to delete their account 4. It’s impossible to contact HouseCall customer service. I have tried in every way possible. 5. Contractors can track your movement. Make sure your Location feature is turned off before accessing this app 6. I hired an electrician he only took payment via the HouseCall app. I didn’t mind making payment this way but now this app HouseCall won’t allow me to delete my credit card information or my account. I hate this app!!! ### 1/5 — Multiple flaws make this junk *2018-02-11* First of all every time I use it I'm forced to give a rating. That's crap I don't want to be forced to give a rating every time I go in to review something. Secondly I've been using the same cleaning service for a year and I want to change. But when I go to search they only show me my current cleaner, stupid. Or maybe that's the only one they have to offer which means worthless. Bills I pay online show payment due on the app and I cannot delete them. ### 1/5 — Horrible *2017-07-12* Air conditioner not working in triple digits weather! 2.5 weeks , Child in home and home owner with Heath issues. I would rate this company a ((minus)) if it were possible! Ok let's start with technician, he comes out looks at unit says I don't have the right tools that he's going to have come out later. Almost a (((week later))) he comes back I said where's your help? He looked at me weird, I said your office lady said there would be two guys working to help get this fixed sooner. He had no clue. So does things to air conditioner, says he can't figure it out that I need a new one. (((Week later))). They schedule appointment to install Friday with new unit. I call to confirm get Voicemail.... then appointment email saying appointment changed to Saturday next day ... I called talk to Jennifer that runs office ((horrible)) and unprofessional Person' to work with!!! Back and forth, they wanted to charge more then what's cover in the hundreds. So it was holding up work, blaming insurance company. No one called me to tell me any of this. Ok now we are talking two weeks in triple digit weather. I got a hold of a supervisor of my home owner insurance again. (( By Monday a new technician from a different company came out )) Omg he fixed it within 1.5 hour Didn't need a new one just a little cleaning and new motor so all that suffering from the heat was for not!!!! Triple digits 2.5 weeks total no air conditioning We suffered, I have been so sick, went to ER and doctors twice over it. My child got sick towards the end of second week. I missed some work and couldn't cook but only microwave. I'm the customer and I pay my bills own my home. This was horrible, uncaring, unprofessional, unexceptionable!!! All because of lack of knowledge and unprofessional office clerk that doesn't follow through and blames everyone else. ((She was very rude)). I would never use them again nor trust them to do the job right!!! I was treated horrible by this office person Jennifer. She sounds like she's had too many smoke breaks. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Good app for what i need *2020-01-15* i hired a carpet cleaner and house cleaners from this app and they were communicative. The required rating is ok and i’m not sure why people are so worked up with it, just click a star then that’s it. The businesses in this app deserve those reviews/star rating to promote their business so don’t be stingy about it. ### 5/5 — Quick service *2019-07-24* I had a couple calls. They wete on time and found the problems quickly. Both men were displaying courtesy amd professionalism i reccomend signing up for seasonal check ups and cleanings. An app that basically makes life generally easier! I can only speak for the housekeepers (But I have messaged other services asking for quotes etc), but I have been super pleased.
