### 1/5 — €850 for Noise, No Help, and a Useless “Tenant Protection” Fee

*2025-06-04, version 1.1.5*

The app is slow, unreliable, and crashes constantly — just like their service. I paid over €200 in fees expecting protection and verified listings. Instead, I got deafening construction noise every morning from a full building renovation 5 meters away — not mentioned anywhere in the listing.

I requested cancellation and got ignored. Federica denied my claim saying noise “isn’t valid,” then disappeared. No follow-up, no help. When I wanted to move out, they offered other listings only if I paid another month’s rent plus another fee.

They also allow landlords to ask for deposits outside the platform — meaning if anything goes wrong, you’re on your own. Luckily, I avoided that trap.

Support was chaotic — Mia, Tom, Linda, Mohamed… no consistency, no ownership, no results.

HousingAnywhere offers zero protection. Their so-called tenant support is just a marketing slogan. If anything goes wrong, you pay for it — twice. Avoid this app and platform.

Be aware!

### 1/5 — So Schlecht & Überflüssig

*2025-06-01*

Ekelhaft!

**Developer response:** Lieber RayzDxD,

### 1/5 — Fix It

*2025-03-26*

Im not even gonna go into what about the app could improve. In fact, if the website or the app could hold for longer than 5 minutes without crashing, I wouldnt even complain

**Developer response:** Oh no! We sincerely apologize for the troubles you've had with the app. We have recently launched a new version of that App that resolves this exact issue. We would appreciate if you would share your feedback.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Constant Requests for Feedback

*2026-07-24, version 1.9.0*

While searching for an apartment, the app hit me with feedback request after feedback request. I’m not talking about once every day or so. I mean 7-10 in the span of 1 minute. It needs to stop.

### 1/5 — Overpriced and substandard

*2026-04-27*

Really bad places for way too much money (Turin 2026). I can not recommend.

**Developer response:** We are sorry you couldn't find what you were looking for on the HousingAnywhere app

### 1/5 — Review of HousingAnywhere – My Experience as a Student in Berlin

*2026-04-24*

I moved to Berlin as a student and chose HousingAnywhere because it seemed like the easiest and most trustworthy option, based on recommendations and reviews. Unfortunately, my experience has been disappointing so far.

First Room Experience

The apartment had 7–8 tenants sharing one kitchen and one bathroom. This made daily living quite difficult. Cleanliness was a major issue from the beginning. When I moved in, I had to clean everything myself before settling in. The floors were clearly not mopped—it was obvious from how dirty my wipes became.

Living with so many tenants also made it hard to maintain hygiene in shared spaces. Not everyone cleaned up after themselves, and basic sanitation standards were not met.

Another issue is transparency: the exact property address is not provided before payment. You only see an approximate location on the map. I only discovered the actual address after paying the rent and deposit—and it turned out to be far from my university.

I did take photos and videos when moving in, but I regret not documenting the condition of the mattress. This later became a problem.

Deposit Issues

After moving out, I thoroughly cleaned the room (vacuumed, mopped, and documented everything). I was told the deposit would be returned within 8 weeks—which already feels excessive.

After waiting, I followed up and was told my deposit had been transferred to my new room without my knowledge or consent. This was never communicated beforehand.

When I challenged this and provided proof of paying a new deposit, they later claimed the deposit had already been refunded earlier—without any receipt or confirmation. Coincidentally, I only received the refund after I followed up.

To make things worse, they deducted €110 for a mattress replacement, claiming I didn’t report its condition—even though it was already worn when I moved in.

Second Room Experience

I moved into a new room and followed the same routine: documenting and cleaning everything upon arrival. Again, the room was not properly cleaned—the floor was dirty, and the room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke.

I reported this, and someone came to inspect it, but the only advice given was to “air it out.” This was not practical, especially during winter. I ended up spending my own money on charcoal bags and a humidifier, and it took nearly three months to fully remove the smell.

The balcony was also left dirty with leaves everywhere. It really felt like no proper cleaning or preparation was done before I moved in.

Overall Concerns

It seems like rooms are not properly cleaned or maintained between tenants. Additionally, tenants may be unfairly charged for pre-existing wear and tear if they don’t document everything in detail.

Key Takeaways

Document everything when you move in (photos and videos of all items, including mattress condition)

Track your deposit closely and follow up if needed

Keep all payment receipts

Clean thoroughly before using anything

Ask as many questions as possible (exact location, number of tenants, gender mix, etc.)

Final Thoughts

While HousingAnywhere may seem convenient at first, my experience shows that there are serious issues with transparency, cleanliness, and deposit handling. Proceed with caution and make sure you protect yourself throughout the process.

Good luck finding a decent apartment—especially in Berlin.

### 1/5 — Terrible map functionality

*2026-02-20, version 1.3.0*

Unable to search by zooming out the map. You can only search each city individually.

### 1/5 — Ужасно

*2025-11-20, version 1.2.0*

Худшее приложение, долго грузится, папка с сообщениями открывается через раз!

### 1/5 — A scam?

*2025-11-18, version 1.2.0*

I created two accounts since the first one was blocked right after I submitted my Passport ID, Bank Information and photo, guest what the second one as well was blocked right after I’ve done the same, now the “security team” is requesting me to provide again my documents as a separate attachment. Beware!

### 1/5 — STAY AWAY STAY SAFE

*2025-11-04, version 1.2.0*

I've just lost 650€ but at least they didn't get the full ≈2,150 they were after. Have you ever heard of a 450€ administration fee for a two month stay at a 475€/month room? i sure haven't. they will take the conversation off the platform to whatsapp or email and youll never get them to reply in the app. The red flag was waved and i check online and oh boy did they scam me good, can't find a single review on reddit that isn't saying to stay away.
If you're reading this Yvan you should be ashamed.

### 1/5 — A Platform for Slumlords

*2025-10-02, version 1.2.0*

This company is horrible. They make it seem like they are there to protect tenants, but really they are enabling slumlords and predatory landlords an opportunity to target vulnerable tenants. I tried using this app to find an apartment in Berlin. I walked into a dingy, dirty, water damaged dump that looked nothing like the photos advertised. The only means of egress during a fire or emergency was the main door which was partially blocked by the bed. You have to stand-sideways and shuffle to get past. I have lived in some disgusting apartments in Boston and NYC but this takes the cake. Apparently, this slumlord (Jörn) makes a habit out of not cleaning between tenants and seeing who complains. He probably expects to get away with it since the building seems to cater mainly students and expats. Stay away from any property at 35 Colbestraße, and away from this dingy app.

### 1/5 — Terrible Prices and Lies

*2025-09-12, version 1.2.0*

There are many fees with this app and very expensive. I also had an issue with a place I stayed in Madrid. This place had said it had air conditioning but it did not. I was there for 2 months in the hot summer heat and really struggled to even be inside at all. It was over 100 degrees some of the days and being inside the apartment felt like a sauna, I was non stop sweating and showering with cold water for 2 months. I was not given any sort of compensation or discount for this major issue and I will never be using this app again.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2025-06-13*

I got scammed with a room they certified, when I tried to contact them about it nothing happened

**Developer response:** Hello, and sorry to hear about your experience. We would like to support you with this issue and we’d appreciate it if you could write back to us at support@housinganywhere.com.
