### 2/5 — Dark mode issues

*2019-10-24, version 1.2.79*

You can't read incident details if your phone is set to dark mode. They appear as white text on a mostly white background.

### 3/5 — Portrait to Landscape

*2019-10-21, version 1.2.78*

This app is as detailed as you want to make it w/one exception. It doesn’t change from portrait to landscape when you change the angle of your phone. That is a problem. Please correct this feature

### 2/5 — Useless

*2019-10-10, version 1.2.77*

Harder to read and less accurate than Google Maps.

### 2/5 — Lost connection alert

*2019-09-19, version 1.2.76*

Application keeps sending continuous alert about application not being able to connect to Trastar.

### 1/5 — No road closures posted for 290!

*2019-06-01, version 1.2.74*

290 Northwest Freeway East bound road closure due to construction Sat June 1st. Why is this not posted on the app???? I’ve been sitting in traffic for way too long. If this app served its purpose I would have jumped on 99. What’s the point of using this, very unreliable.

### 1/5 — Consistently Inaccurate

*2019-05-28, version 1.2.74*

I have used this app and Waze for the last few years here in Houston and have found that Waze provides a generally accurate description of traffic conditions (as well as options to avoid), the Houston TranStar app is more usually inaccurate, generally underestimating the degree of traffic congestion. Frustratingly, as newer versions of the app are rolled out, reliability has gotten worse rather than better. I finally decided to delete this app in favor of Waze. Don’t waste your time with the TranStar app.

### 3/5 — Trans star stuck on radar, not loading info on the phone

*2019-03-12, version 1.2.73*

Can sent

### 3/5 — An absolute MUST HAVE if you drive in Houston!

*2019-03-06, version 1.2.73*

This is a reliable way to get an overview of traffic delays all over Houston. They post incidents almost immediately after they happen (not always the case with other navigation apps), and they inform you which lanes are affected. App makes it easy to check the incident & construction maps before you leave for your destination so you can quickly plan your route. An absolute MUST HAVE APP if you drive in Houston - especially with the upcoming major freeway interchange closures scheduled for 2019. Props to developers and those at TranStar who make sure it continues to work. Thank You!

### 1/5 — need redesign UI

*2018-08-19, version 1.2.72*

Wonder why Apple would allow this amateur app in the App Store. The user interface looks horrible, confusing and amateur. Back to the drawing board👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎

btw, additionally to new UI. It needs to support iPhone X

### 2/5 — Traffic map quit working

*2018-05-06, version 1.2.5*

I used this app on the regular basis until a few weeks ago the map quit working. There is no updates and been frustrated that it does not work anymore.

### 1/5 — Downloaded today

*2017-11-10, version 1.2.2*

Is it posible to get a video of an accident I had last month as proof of evidence?? I have yet to try the app to give a good rating.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not Reliable

*2025-01-29, version 2.0.8*

100% reliability

### 1/5 — The previous was much better.

*2024-08-27, version 2.0.2*

This app doesn’t have the rain map, I don’t like this at all.

### 1/5 — Latest update is unusable

*2024-08-24, version 2.0.1*

Latest update has made app unusable. It immediately requests two permissions but the graphics are so jacked up I can only click on one. I have also noticed the previous version no longer had information for most of the roads I use.

### 1/5 — Road closed

*2024-07-22, version 1.2.92*

7/22/2024 Beltway 8 southbound "ROAD CLOSED"! The news reported correctly, but not TranStar! They show green with NO report of "all southbound lanes closed". Closed for months. TranStar is a joke!

### 1/5 — Bad service

*2022-05-15, version 1.2.89*

TranStar is a joke!

It is not real time!

Fact TranStar reports I-69 closed at Townsen closed!
But is OPEN!! For hours.
Do your job right! Or get lost!!!!

### 1/5 — No connection

*2021-08-04, version 1.2.87*

This app says it can’t establish a connection anthem tells me to check my (fully wi-do and also cell data) connection. Closing and reopening the app did not fix the problem. Truly useless.

### 1/5 — Date and time not updated

*2021-02-15, version 1.2.83*

It’s not in real time because it’s still showing me information for January

### 1/5 — Never tells you anything

*2019-11-20, version 1.2.82*

The only notification you’ll get, is high water. So you’re basically screwed when an accident, stall, or roadwork happens

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2019-09-19, version 1.2.76*

When you need it the most. Roads flooding and app can’t connect.

### 1/5 — Worked one day

*2019-09-19, version 1.2.76*

This app worked for one day yesterday. Today it keeps saying can’t read a connection and keeps trying to blame my Internet. My Internet is working fine and it only seems to be this app not getting a connection. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling and all the regular troubleshooting and nothing worked. Shame, this could be a really helpful tool if it worked

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Short Travelled

*2026-07-03, version 2.1.18*

Helps me get around Houston

### 5/5 — Vital

*2025-07-17, version 2.1.1*

On my way to work with a coffee and senior citizen. I can’t afford to get stick in traffic.

### 5/5 — New Look

*2025-02-10, version 2.0.8*

I like the new design. Need to get the web based map upgraded!

### 5/5 — Great

*2025-01-22, version 2.0.6*

Definitely a must have if you travel regularly in Houston. From traffic accidents to floods and freezes, it keeps you informed of what’s going on out on the roads.

### 5/5 — Boop the snoot

*2021-12-27, version 1.2.87*

If you’re looking for traffic cameras this is your stop

### 5/5 — The gray color for background

*2021-04-24, version 1.2.84*

When you try to look it the stall vehicles reports you can’t see what hwy it’s on

### 4/5 — Pretty good app !!!

*2019-01-05, version 1.2.73*

It’s not perfect for everyone but it’s great for people driving into downtown . I wish they could get coverage along Bay Area Blvd & Red Bluff in the Pasadena & Clear lake area . They have a problem with roads flooding . But I think They are doing a good job !

### 4/5 — Nice has quite a few options

*2017-09-14, version 1.1.1*

Not sure if it's intended but you can't enter the map from the home screen by pressing the map? I have to go to the menu. I have to assume a glitch, if not makes it pretty useless as a quick traffic check app. Developer has fixed the issue. Better than having to go to the webpage which was difficult to navigate. Good app.

### 3/5 — Bring the old version back!

*2021-05-06, version 1.2.84*

I’ve deleted and re-installed the new version and it is not anywhere near as good as the older version

### 3/5 — Embedded Weather

*2021-02-15, version 1.2.83*

Embedded weather forecast hasn’t updated from mid-Jan, though I’ve used apps many times since. Update icon doesn’t bring up any more recent info.
