### 4/5 — Up dates are slow

*2026-07-14*

I find the updates of the money you spend in your account takes over 2 to 3 days to show up on your account, show your account show that you’re in credit when you’re actually make re payment to credit card it takes 4 to 5 days to show up , when other bank are straight away very poor service

### 3/5 — Okay, could be better.

*2026-06-02*

The HSBC app is functional and easy enough to navigate, but it feels quite limited compared to other banking apps I’ve used. My biggest frustration is how slow it is to update account activity and transactions, which can make it difficult to keep track of spending in real time. Many other banking apps provide much faster updates and a more responsive experience.

The app also lacks some of the useful features, insights, and financial management tools that are now common elsewhere. While it covers the basics of everyday banking, it doesn’t offer much beyond that. Overall, it’s reliable for simple banking tasks, but it feels outdated and could benefit from faster transaction updates and more helpful features for customers.

### 4/5 — Good - but could be better

*2026-05-14, version 3.69.0*

It’s a good basic app, but not the best. The credit card does not update live and transactions take a few days to show. Don’t know if this is common?

### 2/5 — Improved but still room for more!

*2026-04-10, version 3.68.10*

Certainly improved over the years, but still not great. Why can’t you show transactions in real time? My other banking app shows any payments immediately made whereas it takes 2-3 days for the app to show a payment has been made to a third party

### 3/5 — Basic

*2026-03-14*

Recently changed from Lloyds bank to HSBC, it’s basic and does the job but doesn’t have nearly as many features as I did with Lloyds. Quite disappointed, but can still make transfers and check my balances. It doesn’t let me set up standing orders or show what’s pending to come out of the account, so lacks a lot that Lloyds does. Accessibility wise, it’s very good using VoiceOver with the screen reader, however some buttons give me the accessibility information behind them which makes the app feel messy.

### 3/5 — OK

*2026-01-11, version 3.62.0*

This app has got better with the ability to make new payments. However compared to Revolut it’s got a long way to go!

### 4/5 — Notifications

*2025-12-25, version 3.62.0*

Like everything about the app although I don’t seem to get notifications for money coming in. Not sure if it’s me or other people experience this.

### 2/5 — Basic at best

*2025-12-06, version 3.62.0*

Not a good app, I’ve had banking apps with RBC and BNZ in the past and both were MUCH more user friendly, there’s so much functionality missing!

### 3/5 — Payments

*2025-11-23, version 3.62.0*

Would be better if you could set up payments and get notifications when people pay you.

### 4/5 — Credit card

*2025-09-30, version 3.62.0*

Unable to pay my credit card, have to transfer money every month to my husband’s Nat west account in order to pay without having to go to a hsbc bank.

### 3/5 — Limited options

*2025-05-02, version 3.54.10*

It’s a shame that the UK app is significantly more equipped than what this is. This is very very basic. Also the website when transferred to the website when needed, it has a lot of errors and bugs. Shame.

### 3/5 — Planned payment

*2025-04-23, version 3.54.10*

I would like to send payment every months and would like the option to do so

### 3/5 — Okay

*2025-03-30, version 3.54.10*

App works okay. Very very basic app. Can’t manage direct debits or standing orders. Can’t set up new payees, have to do online. No transaction analysis like many other banks offer. The app shows your balance before pending transactions, it would be better to show post pending as your main balance like it does on the website.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — So basic with not many functions

*2026-03-30, version 3.68.3*

Compared with Isle of Man Bank this app is awful . I’ve recently opened premier accounts and although your face to face customer service is outstanding, your app needs a lot of work . It is so basic , doesn’t offer many functions and also seems very slow to update on payments .

### 1/5 — Glitchy, dated, slow

*2026-03-19, version 3.67.0*

The app is basic, dated, glitchy and doesn't do much. For example, one cannot transfer money to the HSBC credit card THAT'S LISTED AS AN ASSOCIATED ACCOUNT.
Perhaps they prefer it that way: increase the resistance for a customer to pay off a credit card so that there's more interest charged and they make more money?
Also glitches a lot, returning errors etc.
UX design also leaves a lot to be desired.

### 1/5 — Direct debit

*2025-10-30, version 3.62.0*

The app is not user friendly.

### 1/5 — Not user friendly

*2025-10-05, version 3.62.0*

Everything is so frustrating to use. I just want to rename my accounts and I’ve googled and apparently I have to call and get someone to change them for me! It’s such an effort to do anything simple

### 1/5 — Not user friendly

*2025-08-27, version 3.60.3*

Unfriendly app like a website. Don’t know which one is worse. Fact that I can’t select one of mine previous payees and send them money again is crazy. I have to do new transaction. Not a possibility to add payees without payment. I can go on and on how much online users are hated by HSBC. They still behave like internet just been invented

### 1/5 — Useless

*2025-07-25, version 3.60.3*

Rubbish app and bank

### 1/5 — Add Digital Card

*2025-05-15*

For the love of God, please release an update that makes the app useful, such as BEING ABLE TO ACCESS YOUR CARD VIA APP

### 1/5 — No Card Access

*2025-03-26*

Still don’t understand how every single other HSBC app will let me view cards except this one. Can’t add to Google / Apple Pay directly from app, much less see card information

### 1/5 — Poor UI, Poor UX, Lacking basic functionality, Feels 15 years out-of-date

*2025-01-21, version 3.52.0*

Can’t quite believe how bad this app is, after moving all my banking from another provider (Lloyds), I find this app is so bad I’m thinking of leaving HSBC and going somewhere else (or even, god forbid, back to Lloyds).
Just so so basic…
I can’t set up a standing order? Seriously?
Can’t see any Direct Debits?
Can’t manage (or even see any details for) my cards?
Can’t check or amend my contact details?
No secure messaging facility?
—
In fairness to the app, it does let me take a photo of a cheque to be deposited into an account… which is a facility that is so useful in 2024, think I last received a cheque in the early 2000’s?
Pretty much sums up the app actually, it’s about as flexible and up-to-date as using a cheque book.
—
Edited to add: oh, I can’t get transaction notifications either - fantastic 🙄

### 1/5 — Awful

*2024-11-08, version 3.52.0*

Fraud alert triggers are awful - I was blocked from my account for transferring money from one HSBC account to another HSBC account.

Call centre staff took around 30mins to realise ‘no issues’ and reactivate the account.

Very poor service, I am very disappointed.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

*2026-08-01*

This app is really good and has loads of ways you can do payments. It has a very reliable review reviews including this one it also if there’s something wrong with the bank has a really good thing because I have a number like if something is wrong it has a number that you can complain to and it’s really nice because my sister, went on the website and they notified her that her bank was being hacked almost immediately which was really good and yeah that’s all if you get this up hope you enjoy bye
