I don’t mind paying for quality. Major fail on this 10 dollar app to not be able to playback recordings through headphones. Listening to playbacks through the external speaker is feasible in most situations. **Developer response:** To use headphones, touch the Speaker button until the indicator light is not lit. However, the icon on the iPad is a white box with grey lines drawn in instead of the black icon for the application. Developer doesn’t respond to e-mails. ### 2/5 — HT Professional Recorder *2019-05-04, version 8.5* I just bought this and the background ambient noise is too loud. What am I doing wrong. Setting are not as easy as you would think. The regular voice recording on the iPhone seems to have a better sound? I’m open to suggestions. ### 2/5 — Disappointing on iphone 4 *2010-11-28, version 4.3* Sure it may have its uses and the manual claims it works better on iphone 3 (probably because iphone 4 has two mics and the noice cancelling might not know what to cancel when you get further away from the phone...just a guess). The recorder does create louder files than almost any other recorder I tested. Its recordings are just much more noisy and more compressed sounding than other apps. I tried to apply a broadband noise filter to a recording from it when I got it on my computer to try to remove the background noise and it just made it worse. This app might work if you just want to record lectures and play them back at variable speeds easily. Nevertheless, if you can't handle white noise and lower clarity on an iphone 4 (which I couldn't for my purposes), you'll need to find another app. ### 3/5 — Hate when apps are abandoned *2020-09-25, version 8.5* This app hasn't been updated in two years. Anyway, I cannot find a way to record with bluetooth headphones using the mic that is built into them. Also, when I'm recording with the built-in mic, my Voiceover starts talking through the speaker of the device, which is in another room, and not through my headphones. Cats are always asking me if I’m going to record rehearsal and it lets me share the recordings with my band via email. It’s a great tool for what I use it for. The sound quality is excellent for what it is. Since July 2008, I have purchased or downloaded the following voice recorders below. Many of them were free but others were fee-based. I downloaded some free, then purchased the in-app upgrades. At the time of downloading, they were all rated at least 4.0 since I certainly was not interested in a mediocre recorder. In my opinion, HT Professional recorder is unquestionably superior to the others below. Specifically it is superior in voice quality and clarity and most strikingly, the ability to pick up distant audio and maintain a strong playback. The other recorders I have downloaded include: Dictaphone, Voice recorder pro, ALON Dictaphone, Voice Memos, Awesome voice recorder Pro AVR, My memos the voice recorder, Voice recorder HD voice memos, Voice notes, Recorder HQ for cloud, HD voice recorder, Recorder Plus II, Voice recorder recording app, REV voice recorder, Voice recorder and audio editor, Audio recorder HD and voice memo, TapeAcall lite, Callcorder Pro, Call recorder lite for iPhone, Smart recorder transcriber AF, Plutonium recorder, Dragon recorder, Voxie pro recorder, iTalk recorder, and Quick voice recorder. Over the years, I check back in the App Store specifically for new recorders by searching every month or so to see if there is anything better than HT. It still amazes me that HT was so far ahead in the technology back in 2008 that still no one has caught up with them. However, there is one thing on my wish list for Applied Voices LLC: please make your HT recorder for the Apple Watch (with complications) also! It would be a great addition.
