Share sheet support, so that I can share image files of receipts from other apps such as Messages into Hubdoc 2. But I have to use this one for work. It is incredibly annoying having to constantly sign back in - again and again. Hubdoc states this is to protect my financial info yet my Monzo and NatWest banking app holds way more sensitive data and is a breeze compared to this. Use my Face ID or at the very least pre-populate my info - and stop making customers email your developers to request features. Came from a different software platform with their own scanning app and the ability to crop photos and upload multiple pages of 1 bill is so much better! For a software system that everyone seems to prefer, I feel like I’ve stepped backwards in time with this app. **Developer response:** Hi, thanks for your feedback. Please update ASAP ### 1/5 — Works But Lacks Basic Features *2025-08-30* My company uses Hubdoc because our accounting/bookkeeping firm wants us to and as an IT company we're trying to get them to dump it because Hubdoc is lacking in so many ways and there hasn't been any meaningful updates in years. My biggest complaints are the lack of image control options in the mobile app and lack of security - they log you out every 30 min on the app and web site with no way to change the behavior, very detrimental to productivity. Hubdoc calls this a "security feature" yet they lack a modern authentication capability (think biometrics) and integration with major SSO services. It's just awful so do yourself a favor and steer clear. ### 2/5 — Sort out logging in *2025-08-26, version 6.6.4* Every time I open the app I’ve got to log in again, go and get the MFA code. It’s such a faff I just don’t bother using it now. Why can’t they just sort that out and rely on the phone biometrics ### 2/5 — Fix The Issues! *2025-08-01* I use Hubdoc as a bookkeeper for a restaurant. How am I supposed to get my invoices to my accountants in a timely manner if the app is constantly glitching and not uploading them! Thankfully photos I’ve taken that aren’t uploaded yet are stored in the app, otherwise I’d be out of a job! Takes me waiting AGES for 10 documents to upload whilst it’s not glitching and my internet connection is fine! ### 1/5 — It’s useless *2025-07-28, version 6.6.4* I can add bills but I can’t process them. What a waste. ### 1/5 — Rubbish *2025-07-28* Mobile app requires re-authenticating every time I use it. Even disabled MFA but then app asked to re-install MFA. Am about to switch to a paid app , time wasting … been like it 12 months. For the sake of taking a picture of a receipt two factor log in, load times I’m looking for a way to dump this from Xero. ### 1/5 — Flakey and near pointless *2025-06-12* Like the other reviewers i struggle to believe that anyone at hubdoc or Xero has actually ever tried to use this app. Also I can never get access with endless doom loops of password requests. In this day and age its hard to believe such a shoddy app made it on to the market. I would change if my accountant didn’t mandate it. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t capture info *2025-06-07* I don’t need a receipt scanner that just takes a photo and prompts me to fill in the invoice number, supplier, tax rate and amounts. That’s what the app is for. This app sucks so much how you can even claim “no more manual data entry”? ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — A pencil in the eye is more fun than using this app *2026-08-03* I have set it up a number of times, works fine. Then it will not accept your email or password, and then you spend an hour resetting both. Then it works and falls over again. I have no idea how they keep this in the App Store. If you want to test your patience and sanity, use this program along with Xero. You will have more chances of going insane or taking a shotgun to your mouth as more pleasurable **Developer response:** Hello and thanks for sharing this feedback. For starters the accessibility is awful and the icons for moving around the interface are dark grey on a slightly darker grey background. Basically all it does it send your photographed receipt to zero which you can do on zero anyway. No way to email it that can see. It simply doesn’t work. ### 1/5 — It’s overprice at free *2026-03-30* Dog dirt, pure and simple. Doesn’t read a single thing from the receipt and doesn’t fit into the Xero workflow in any meaningful way. You would be better off scratching the receipt into your eyeball and then taking a photo of that (with the flash on) that trying to use this weapons grade catastrophe of an app. ### 1/5 — Basic *2026-02-03, version 6.6.6* No way to switch between organisations once within the app. ### 1/5 — Hate It *2025-11-18* Was forced to use this app by my accountant as it’s the system they opted for. It’s so extremely frustrating that you can only upload a maximum of 10 receipts at a time. Once you’ve reached your limit of 10, the app then takes you back to the beginning of your camera roll so you can’t continue from where you left off. Being a very busy working professional, at times if on the move travelling or rushing from meeting to meeting over a number of days or weeks those receipts simply build up. I used to use Receipt Bank which was fantastic! This app needs masses of work ### 1/5 — Not user friendly *2025-11-11, version 6.6.6* Always logs me out so frustrating to use ### 1/5 — Useless… *2025-11-04* Hubdoc is beyond useless. Vendor and amount is misidentified 50% of the time. Can’t edit after the fact. Another reason I’m looking for alternatives to switch to after being with Xero for years. We do have dedicated teams that consistently look at extraction quality data with a view to continuous improvement of the model but unfortunately it is not perfect. We are working on some exciting enhancements (using LLMs) and reducing dependencies on traditional OCR technologies (which had more limitations). In addition, we're developing more of these data extraction capabilities for the Xero Accounting App. Stay tuned for some exciting updates in the near future! ### 1/5 — Logs me out every time *2025-10-27* I really want to like this app because it fundamentally does what Dext does, but it just doesn’t do it well. I’ve never been so frustrated by being repeatedly locked out of an app over and over and over again. Basically every time I go to use it, I have to sign in through my Xero account which means using my password app and then requires me to use an authenticator app to get in. It becomes a real number just to take a photograph of a receipt. Please developers, listen, and integrate Face ID. There’s really no reason not to nowadays. This app is stuck in the dark ages otherwise and I’m almost tempted to go back to using Dext but paying for it. **Developer response:** We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. Photos are easy to take and expenses also easy to allocate. Every client we show this to is blown away that they can keep their receipts without having a shoebox! It works for exactly what needs to be done on the go: take a picture of the receipt and upload. Done. Simple and easy to use for clients to get us the data quickly so we can reconcile. ### 5/5 — Best app for business *2017-11-10, version 1.3.13* This app is probably the best tool you will find for keeping your books in order. Fetches your bank statements, credit cards and supplier invoices. Sorts and files them all. Pushes the data to your accounting software. We have seen it reduce a GST audit from 5 days to a few hours. It will save you or your bookkeeper a significant amount of time. ### 5/5 — I heart Hubdoc *2013-10-06, version 1.0* One place for all my bills and statements. No more remembering 15 passwords. Ideally Face ID login would be very appreciated. **Developer response:** Should be all good to go now, Noyz11! ### 4/5 — Big improvement *2023-07-05* I’ve been meaning to leave an extremely negative review for a while now, as I need to use Hubdoc for a large part of my work, and the app barely worked at all, it was an extremely frustrating experience. However, the new update seems to have fixed most of my issues, things are going much smoother for me thus far. There’s still a slight delay when uploading a document, which adds up when you’ve got 400 odd documents to photograph but that’s the only issue I’ve got with the app now really.
