### 3/5 — A little harder to set up

*2026-07-14, version 2.1.69*

Harder to setup than SmartThings and Aeotec but became interested in non cloud based when my Goggle Fiber cable was cut and most if not all smart devices become useless. My hope is that 3 starts will become a 5 with more experience.

### 4/5 — Ok app for Hubitat

*2026-06-19, version 2.1.69*

The app is increasingly solid. It’s quite functional, and the worst launching problems have been fixed.

### 4/5 — Pretty Damn Good

*2026-05-29, version 2.1.60*

This hub is pretty darn good. Haven’t figured out how to set scenes and do some other tricks yet. But damn the pairing is fast and reliable.

### 3/5 — Good, but needs a few things

*2025-12-31, version 2.1.60*

The Hubitat does a good job at controlling my Z-wave devices. But it needs the following improvements:

1. iPad apps MUST function in landscape mode!
2. The slider for dimmers needs to have more height so that finger placement isn’t so touchy.
3. The process for accessing, assigning, and programming device operation needs to be simplified, intuitive, and easy to understand.

### 4/5 — Smart Start Bug?

*2025-12-14, version 2.1.53*

First, let me say that I think this environment is a pretty good one. I’ve moved over from SmartThings for my new home and for the most part I’m very happy. Not to say there aren’t things that could improve, but that you seem to be able to do all the things that you want to be able to do. The main reason I’m writing this review is that the smart start screen has changed and I don’t see a reference to it in the what’s new. This change has made it so that I can’t scroll through my smart start items when I’m in the view that lets me hit the button to scan the QR code. I have one that is stuck and I need to troubleshoot. I think it is a bad switch, nothing to do with the hubitat.

### 3/5 — Crashes Home/Hub

*2025-12-12, version 2.1.53*

App works as expected except when I navigate to HOME/Hub and it crashes IOS 26.1 and App version 2.1.53 (454)

### 2/5 — Crashes - useless

*2025-12-06, version 2.1.53*

At times the app was helpful. Currently it is a DOA POS. Makes me think about moving on to HA. Dev team has its own agenda and doesn’t seem to care. Downside of HA is it is piecemeal and z-wave is add on.

### 2/5 — Don’t like it at all

*2025-11-12, version 2.1.45*

I had a different hub, which was much easier to use, was more intuitive, and there was actually customer support for it. I’ve reached out to the company three times for support and nothing. Once they sell you the product that’s it. They don’t care and you’re on your own. Basic things like particular dimmers you have to go through programming stuff that is complex and very difficult for the common guy to do. I would highly discourage anyone from buying a Hubitat hub

### 4/5 — still stuck in cloud vs local mode

*2025-11-06, version 2.1.33*

app still stuck in cloud vs. local mode after update. shows local ip in hub details but says its cloud. detects local hub but unable to press claim button. please fix! overall great app, best local automation system out there

### 1/5 — Unreliable

*2025-10-12, version 2.1.33*

It’s constantly going offline and doesn’t work until you power cycle it.

### 2/5 — Needs stability

*2025-09-28, version 2.1.30*

I love the automation features but the hub is too prone to freezing and needing a reboot to use it for anything critical. Sadly.

### 1/5 — App inconsistencies

*2025-09-27, version 2.1.30*

Poor app navigation and trouble connecting

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — High hopes but dashed expectations

*2026-07-12, version 2.1.69*

I wasn’t ready to complain but you popped up the ‘Review’ window, so here I am with grand plans but no real progress and VERY frustrated…. I can’t believe there isnt a BASIC dashboard with a few WORKING items for novices, to start us off? Why do many tiles default to ‘unknown’? And where are basic settings? Eg my Weather tile is still in ºF. The only device Ive managed to connect — the Zigbee double power point — shows as Unknown. Hopeless default. Why not default power switches to On/Off? My Presence tile turns red when my phone is in Airplane mode and green when Im home. Not perfect but OK… but how do I SAY something intelligent on the tile? When I add my wife’s phone I’ll just have two coloured tiles, no useful default text? I expected to have the cameras, the HWS and some room temperatures up by now. There is SO MUCH Id like to do but as a novice, dont know where to start. And I’d like more obvious defaults for each tile type. Presumably I can edit this review when Ive made more progress… Lets hope so…

### 1/5 — The new sucks!

*2026-06-15, version 2.1.69*

Every time I try to use the new app, it makes me sad and want to use something else but I don’t have the finances cause I spent my money on all the stuff and anyway there you

### 1/5 — Terrible!

*2026-06-11, version 2.1.69*

Forced to switch from Vera when the controller died. Hubitat is cumbersome not intuitive and the app never works. Hate it.

### 1/5 — Reboot me

*2026-03-23, version 2.1.60*

I have to unplug and reset the device daily.

### 1/5 — iPhone EZ dashboard issue for months that Hubitat won’t acknowledge

*2026-01-26, version 2.1.60*

In general, I have been loving Hubitat. However, back in May, I noticed that any button in the first column of an iPhone or iPad doesn’t work on their easy dashboard. I reported this and I got one or two little inquiries about how I had it set or what version I was on, but nothing since then. I asked them to acknowledge that this is an issue and they never answer that, and they have not addressed it in all of the fixes since that.

### 1/5 — Confusing user interface

*2026-01-14, version 2.1.60*

Added device and icon is pink. Obviously something is wrong but no clue what or how to resolve.

### 1/5 — Steals Your Data

*2025-12-03, version 2.1.53*

Do not use this app!! They will steal your data and. It let you in.

### 1/5 — 1 star

*2025-11-29, version 2.1.53*

This app is very buggy

### 1/5 — Did they even test this?

*2025-10-30, version 2.1.33*

I find it hard to believe that the makers of this tested it. If it fails something your locked in a screen you can’t escape. Constantly having to restart the app to try and setup my devices. So useless and frustrating.

### 1/5 — The concept is good but needs constant maintenance

*2025-10-17, version 2.1.33*

Needs refining, needs constant maintenance. If this is a local hub to activate commands why does it not always work. It’s a flaw in the c-7 hub because all four at all four locations do the same thing. The c-8 hub has its own set of issues. Life has enough frustrations, Hubitat adds to that frustration. Hubitat was supposed to make life easier. With each update I always hope these issues would be fixed but after 5 years it isn’t going to happen.
I either have to have someone go over to a house I’m not at and repair devices that drop off line. At least when devices drop off line, Hubitat made it easier to re-pair devices that drop off line. Weekly hub reboots seem to help smooth out function abilities.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Vera to Hubitat

*2026-08-06, version 2.1.69*

Used Vera Edge for many years and when I changed to Hubitat it was like going from a Model T to a Ferrari, zoom zoom!!!

### 5/5 — Works great for my C8+

*2026-07-09, version 2.1.69*

Almost 2 years ago I replaced my Vera ZWave hub with the Hubitat C8 + .
So much more powerful and easy to set up several automations. All my older ZWave devices and a lot of newer devices work with out a problem . The hub is rj45’d to the LAN.
Positioned in the center of the first floor of a three story single family home.
This app is for status and state change both locally and on the road.
All setup and programming is ( and has to) by PC to the hub’s internal web site.
All in my house.
No cloud control- all local and remote control is tunneled into the house. No monthly fees.
Works flawlessly for me.
PS: - works great with Google Home .
Updates are on a quasi monthly basis.
Very pleased :-)

### 5/5 — Many devices not working

*2026-01-01, version 2.1.60*

Hubitat is great but so many devices not working or stop working anymore but works fine with Alexa

### 5/5 — Hubitat C8

*2025-12-18, version 2.1.60*

Changed over to 3years ago from Wink to C7 and updated to C8. I love my Hubitat it’s easy to use and program

### 5/5 — Works well for it’s purpose

*2025-11-27, version 2.1.53*

I have and use a Hubitat c8-pro for total automation in my house ( lights, door locks, sensors and alarms)
All works as I planned and programmed using the web page.

I use this app to Monitor ( not program) the status and state of the activity ( with Pushover).
I can turn on/off/lock/unlock any device that my Hubitat is set up to control.
Any where in the USA.
Works Flawlessly.

Thank You.

### 5/5 — Terrific value Hub to automate your home etc

*2025-09-27, version 2.1.30*

The Hubitat hub, APP just gets better and better and is a super easy to setup and use interface for those who want control over their automated lights, fans, blinds etc. Personally, I tend to use this App only to investigate or test individual devices as motion sensors, proximity sensors and other trigger devices automate my home, around me.

### 5/5 — Great app to control the home!
