Install requires access to music and picture, why? It asks to run in the background all the time, Why? I don’t give Carter Blanche access to any app. 1 star for invasiveness. Edit: I received a prompt response to my concerns, based on that I’ll amend my rating till I have time to reevaluate. Kudos to the developer for quick response. ### 3/5 — Almost there! *2021-12-29* I’ve had my Hudway unit and the app for a while now, and the idea is fantastic, but it’s obvious there are issues that need to be addressed. I’ve taken some of the issues and suggest improvements below: Software The app will not allow you to select Celsius for temperature but Miles for distance. Currently you have either “Imperial” or “Metric” as an option for measurements but can’t select individual measurements. The navigation app is very janky and I can’t trust it at all in the UK. The directions keep trying to send me the wrong way over a roundabout, and the symbols make no sense. For those with no common sense this is dangerous :) The Hudway Go app would make an excellent implementation into the Drive app, it’s great as a minimised HUD app - not sure why it hasn’t been implemented before. This would be great as an option available to the user instead of having to cast Hudway Go. Night Time colour modes. After a certain time in the day it would be far safer to change the colour of the icons, text and symbols to a more eye-friendly colour when driving at night (e.g. orange or red) so as to reduce distraction. Hardware The display being used suffers badly from light bloom which is noticeable in most light levels and brightness. In a future implementation perhaps consider a display that doesn’t bloom as much. Manual brightness slider on the side of the unit - it’s a nightmare to change the brightness on the device while driving, it would be great if there was either a physical brightness dial on the unit or make it easier to change the brightness. ### 4/5 — iPhone Mirror Doesn’t Work *2021-08-13* Would have given it 5 stars if the iPhone mirror had worked. Can’t use google maps or waze etc. Followed the directions included with the app… bluetooth and wifi connects, checked the mirror setting in the app to make sure it’s turned on, can’t find Hudway Drive when trying to mirror. Thank you for staying with us! ### 1/5 — They don’t deserve a 5 star rating *2020-09-17* They said they will ship the device August 2019. The day I am putting this comment is September 2020. They put the app on App Store long time ago. However, as of today, no one are able to actually use the app as no one actually received the device yet, after waiting for one a half years. **Developer response:** Hi! We apologise truly for the production outstretch. We've been doing everything that can somehow depend on us, but to our huge regret not all the things do. The app is strictly connected to the device since all the functionality makes sense in collaboration with HUDWAY Drive. Sometimes it would not come on at all. Sometimes it would turn off and on. I waited for a year for this device. What a joke. ### 1/5 — Flawed product *2025-04-19* The HUD crashed ever so often, partially did not restart. Phone needs to be unlocked and Hudway app opened that it works. Navigation voice does not announce full directions and gets cut off. OBDII dongle runs on continous power draining the battery. Having a fuse tap on IG would help. Helpdesk did not respond to my last email. Do not recommend this product. ### 1/5 — Functionality leaves a lot to be desired *2025-01-28* The app is really bad. For some reason the hudway wont pair with my phone even though it’s discoverable and done it before. Can’t tell if there’s a way to factory reset it or not. The Bluetooth OBD doesn’t connect in time most of my drives or it doesn’t pull in the correct information. It’ll say the RPMs are not available on my car. It’s nice when it works but it doesn’t work more often than it does. ### 1/5 — Disappointed *2024-12-02* The hardware is disappointing and impossible to read during the day and in sunlight. Thank you! ### 1/5 — Fraudulent product *2021-12-22* If there was a negative 5 star rating, then this company would get it. This product is a complete fabrication of the truth. Most of the features are different than described. iPhone mirroring is not supported at all. It uses a form of screen recording and doesn’t work very well. They claim you can keep your phone in your pocket, but if you don’t lock your screen, portrait view is unusable. After waiting so long, I finally got mine only t have it malfunction on the second use. Their camera system never worked at all. They acknowledged the defects but have intentionally delayed issuing a return invoice for months. I tried to visit their offices, but turns out the address used is a recreation room of a luxury apartment across the street from the beach. I truly believe they will steal everyone's money and file bankruptcy because they obviously spent more money on advertising and packaging than the actual products themselves. **Developer response:** Hi Eric! Thank you so much for staying with us and wishing to resolve it with us! ### 1/5 — Major flow, needs to be fixed. *2021-10-04* As soon as you turn off the iPhone screen the app it is not sending any Bluetooth data to the device anymore. Major flaw that make this app-device combo literally useless. **Developer response:** Hi! Thank you for writing in. The thing is, this is how basically mirroring function works. Ince this protocol streams your phone screen content as is to any external device, once the screen goes dark or sleep or you block it, the connection breaks off. So please keep it switched on.
