### 3/5 — Good, but…

*2025-09-03*

Probably the best app for Hue light systems, but I positively despise the touch implementation on the Light Control screen. The slightest missed tap on any given lighting group activates the slider that takes you to the detail screen for the light group.

This makes simple taps on any given icon very frustrating.

The correct implementation would be for only a tap on the > icon to activate the slider.

Please fix.

**Developer response:** Have you tried V2? There is large and small tiles now!

### 4/5 — Good app

*2025-01-31, version 1.7.31*

Tokyo & Wonderland are faves

### 2/5 — Slow app fix it!

*2024-11-29, version 1.7.31*

The app is slow you can fix it!

### 3/5 — Ambient sound

*2024-11-11*

Looked everywhere. Can’t control (turn off) what is sometime the VERY annoying ambient sound.

**Developer response:** New button added on the experience bottom sheet to mute the sounds and this is saved as well.

### 4/5 — No use outside UK

*2024-10-16, version 1.7.31*

When I am outside of the UK I can’t connect to this. You have no motion sensors connected to your bridge is the error message. Hue has no problem connecting.

### 3/5 — Family Sharing Problem

*2024-04-28, version 1.7.31*

I purchased the app and upgraded to the Pro version great app and I’m enjoying all the different lighting options .
Problem came when my wife downloaded the app we are on Family Sharing but she is expected to pay another £4.99 for the pro version .
Money not the issue just expected it to be shareable with family members on the same account .

### 2/5 — Stop working

*2024-01-28, version 1.7.31*

Can not find hue bridge I gave up

### 2/5 — Just Ok

*2023-01-13*

Tried it out. One big problem for an app that claims to do everything for hue. It has no way to find your previously created scenes. Ok no problem I’ll just recreate them in this app. Oh wait where is it, can’t find it, it seems this app cannot create scenes.

My whole reason for trying this app was so my daughter could use her smart button button to set a specific scene either during the day or during bedtime (for her night light). You see we built her a loft bed and she need to be able to toggle on a non-blinding light from two very specific lights in her room but only during specific times (during bedtime). I can do this in the normal hue app except I have to set the same scene for 5 presses, but guess what happens on the sixth press (even if it hasn’t been pressed for hours), everything shuts off even her tv that we have programmed to a smart switch. I don’t need the tv turning off during the day, only during the night. This is not achievable with the hue app and is apparently not with this one either.

My suggestion is keep looking if you want actual usability instead of just pretty pre configured light shows.

**Developer response:** You can create scenes and they can also be applied to any room with our OmniScene technology. Scenes are no longer tied to just the room in which you created them.

### 2/5 — Unintuitive

*2022-01-07, version 1.7.22*

All the functionality is there and works well. It’s just so confusing to use. The interface needs some work.

### 4/5 — Awesome app for Philips Hue

*2021-03-10, version 1.7.22*

Really cool app covering a wide range of possibilities all in one. Camera feature is especially good as it lets you have something similar to the Hue Sync Box for a fiver. Stick a couple (or more) colour hue bulbs behind your tv and you can even have a slightly lesser version of Hue Gradient Lightstrip for a fraction of the cost! What would be cool is adding optional relaxing sounds to the ambiances.

### 3/5 — This App Could Be Awesome But....

*2021-01-02, version 1.7.17*

I have been using this app for about six months love it but one thing it drives me mad is for some reason I’m using the disco version and the lights stop working if your having a party it’s so annoying I have to exit the app and press play then in about hour it’s done it again please fix this then I’ll give you five stars also love the iPad version does it as well

### 4/5 — I’d love to see integration with Siri Shortcuts!

*2020-12-28*

This app definitely outshines its competitors, especially given its lack of in-app purchases. Nothing better than a one time commitment to get the features you’re after.

I’d REALLY love to see some integration with Siri Shortcuts. The ability to create automations that trigger dynamic lighting modes would be a fantastic addition to an already great piece of software.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Please don’t buy

*2026-08-02, version 2.0.6*

You can’t even create your own scenes or set up a room or do anything that’s important that you wanna do. It feels like it stays in demo mode, but you pay for the fool version do not recommend

### 1/5 — Continually being charged

*2025-04-25, version 1.7.31*

This is not coming up in my subscriptions. I can’t cancel it. I didn’t realise I’d be charged again and again for this! STOP charging me! Not worth it. How dare you keep charging.

### 1/5 — Power cut option should be free

*2024-09-16, version 1.7.31*

The fact you have this option behind a paywall is crazy! It should be a primary, standard FREE feature in the original Philips hue app.

### 1/5 — App does not connect to Bridge

*2024-08-28, version 1.7.31*

Running iPad Pro or iPhone, can’t connect to bridge, making it uselesss.

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2024-05-12, version 1.7.31*

Unresponsive, slow, no updates, no response from the developer. Please avoide this app

### 1/5 — Not maintained at all

*2023-12-11, version 1.7.31*

No update in over a year. Dev could not care less about optimising it to function well with the ever changing nature of iOS..

Therefore this app is poor in quality, integration, speed - along with having several bugs such as freezing

Only one third party Hue app on here is still genuinely worked on.. and it’s the only app that should still be allowed to have money collected from.

Have requested refund with Apple as it’s my right to withdraw from a non-working purchase

### 1/5 — Terrible App

*2021-10-12, version 1.7.22*

This app is a piece of garbage. All the effects are like a strobe light. Nothing is chill. They all flicker your lights like a rock show at full energy. Id give this -5 stars if i could

### 1/5 — Doesn’t connect without bridge

*2021-03-28, version 1.7.22*

Don’t have your slogan “literally everything”, then it should do everything

### 1/5 — Doesn’t link

*2020-12-26, version 1.7.17*

Couldn’t get to link

### 1/5 — Hmmmm

*2020-11-04*

You can’t save any configurations unless you buy the pro version so it looks like the free version is pointless. Also not sure if the tap is worth the money anyway. I’ve been using the dimmer switch which is less expensive and seems to do just as much if not more.

**Developer response:** "You can’t save any configurations unless you buy the pro version" - Exactly.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Better alternative to the official app!

*2023-11-02*

After Philips announced they were requiring account setup on their app to even use the product you bought before this change for “security,” I decided to venture to different options to control my hue lights. Luckily a buddy told me about HueDynamic, and I installed and setup everything like I would. I love the interface more on this app, and the added effects built in really made this worth the purchase of getting pro as well. Thanks!

### 5/5 — Wonderful app, just needs one small feature added

*2023-10-29*

We’ve had lots of fun with it this Halloween by using a motion sensor, my existing hue landscape lights, and a Bluetooth speaker to scare unsuspecting people approaching the front door.
It would be even better if I could choose multiple experiences to trigger from the one motion sensor, so it would either play an experience at random (from the ones i selected), or make a “playlist” of sorts that it would go through if it continued to be triggered over a short period of time.
Also, the ability to schedule the trigger on and off times would be awesome, as I like to leave it running, but hearing the creepy heart beat and “Paaaaaaybaaaaack!” Voice when I go out to check the mail in the morning doesn’t really work. Haha

### 5/5 — Always liked and used this app.

*2022-12-18, version 1.7.31*

just bought full version. They have a one time purchase model. That is the main reason I paid.

Obviously it rocks for hue control.

### 5/5 — Setting the moods

*2022-04-02, version 1.7.22*

HueDynamic has some great “experiences” that get you up and running like a pro, setting many different lighting modes with sound effects. Put the Christmas lights up with just a push of a button. Halloween, no problem, there’s a button for that too.
Thanks for a great app!

### 5/5 — Very good supplement to Hue experience

*2021-12-21*

A great deal of fun. 2 feature requests. Not complaining just 2 things that would make more awesome. First is update to take advantage of the gradient light strips. Second is better music/disco functions vis a vis light templates.

### 5/5 — Great; Lots of Free Ambiences

*2021-06-08, version 1.7.22*

Great; Lots of Free Ambiences

### 5/5 — Outstanding App

*2021-03-28, version 1.7.22*

Simply the best app for Philips Hue.
Love the sound experiences.

### 5/5 — Great app and equally great developer

*2020-12-07, version 1.7.17*

Awesome app. I was sold within 1 minute and upgraded to Pro version. Worth every penny. Developer was great and helped with an issue I had within hours.
If you're upgrading I recommend, don't upgrade within the app but purchase the Pro version separately. Feedback to developer, when upgraded within the free version, it still shows time limits for experiences and also the lights don't go back to previous state after the experience such as Disco. However the Pro version works flawlessly and returns lights to previous state after you stop the experience. Great app overall and well done to developer.

### 5/5 — Whole home thunderstorm! 😀

*2020-11-22, version 1.7.17*

Thank you for such a wonderful app. This app was easy to navigate around and in no time I had every room in the house cycling through the “thunderstorm” theme you’ve built. It was so cool to show the kids.
P.S I am going to try the sleep effect part of your app. Fingers crossed it helps. 🌸

### 5/5 — Hue lights

*2020-10-14*

App works well once you understand how to use it
