## What is Hugr?

Stop guessing. Start progressing.

Hugr is the all-in-one training app for lifters who are serious about getting stronger. It tells you what to lift next, tracks every set in seconds, and keeps your training, nutrition and bodyweight in one place, so the only thing you have to think about is the next rep.

Free to use, starting with a 14-day free trial of Hugr Premium. When the trial ends the app keeps working on the free plan.

LOG WORKOUTS IN SECONDS
Frictionless set logging built for the gym floor. Tap to log, watch sets check off, and let the rest timer count you down, with notifications so you never sit too long. Hugr spots your PRs on its own: heaviest set, most reps, best volume, longest hold, farthest distance.

SMART PROGRESSION THAT ACTUALLY COACHES YOU (Premium)
Hugr learns from every session and suggests weight and reps for each set. Using proven double-progression logic, it knows when you're ready to add weight and when to hold, and adapts your remaining sets in real time as you go. No spreadsheets. No second-guessing.

TRAIN AND EAT IN ONE APP
Most lifting apps stop at the barbell. Hugr tracks nutrition too: calories, protein, carbs and fat at a glance, plus saturates, sugars, fibre and salt against their own targets. Scan a barcode, log by named serving ("1 bar", "1 medium banana") instead of guessing grams, track water, and get a calorie target built from your body and activity.

SNAP IT INSTEAD OF TYPING IT
Point AI Scan at whatever is in front of you: a plate of food comes back as a per-item calorie and macro breakdown, a packet is read off its label, a cookbook page becomes a saved recipe. Free: 10 scans a month. Premium: unlimited.

RUN A CUT OR A BULK PROPERLY
Set a goal, a pace and a length in weeks, and Hugr keeps the week-by-week record you'd otherwise keep in a notes app. A reminder opens your weekly check-in with the average already worked out, and the phase screen tracks your real pace against the plan. Premium adds a weekly review that adjusts your calories in one tap, plus a reverse diet after a cut.

SEE YOURSELF GET STRONGER
Track your bodyweight with charts, trends and goal projections, and compare progress photos side by side. Hugr grades your macros day by day and recommends a calorie target from your real weight change. Premium unlocks full Insights: weekly muscle volume and hard sets, progression on your top lifts, and strength standards.

MEET HUGI, YOUR AI COACH
Hugi already knows your training history, diary, weight trend and plans, so you never have to explain yourself first. Ask how a lift is going or what your calories should be, and get an answer with your real numbers in it. Hugi proposes, you tap Apply.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.7.0 — 2026-08-20

New

• Meet Hugi, your personal AI coach (Premium). Ask Hugi from the + menu. It already knows your workouts, your diary, your weight trend and your plans, so you can just ask it anything.

• Track a cut or a bulk as a phase. Set a goal, a pace, a length in weeks and your weigh-in day. Each week a reminder opens your check-in with your average already worked out, so confirming is one tap. The phase screen shows every week, your measured pace against your planned pace, and a chart of your check-ins. Premium adds a weekly review that adjusts your calories in one tap, plus a reverse diet after a cut.

• One AI scanner instead of two. "Scan Recipe" is gone. AI Scan takes whatever you point it at: a plated meal comes back as a per-item breakdown you can edit before logging, a packet is read off its label, and a cookbook page or recipe screenshot becomes a recipe. Still one scan from your allowance.

• Targets for saturated fat, sugar, fibre and salt. The four now fill toward a daily target instead of sitting there as bare numbers. Limits turn red when you pass them, and each one follows your calorie target until you set it yourself.

• Log foods by serving, not just grams. Foods can carry named servings, so you get "1 bar (55g)" or "1 can (500ml)" alongside the usual units, and your diary reads "2 medium bananas (236g)".

• Share a meal, or a whole day, as an image: the totals ring with every food under it, ready for the share sheet.

• Protein, carbs and fat on every logged food, so you can see where the day's protein came from. Optional, under Settings, Nutrition, Display.

• The nutrition "This week" card now covers protein, carbs and fat as well as calories, each with its own chart against the goal you had on that day.

• The activity stopwatch gets a Lock Screen and Dynamic Island widget (Premium), and the timed duration is editable before you save it.

Polish & fixes

• Opening New Exercise or Start Workout, and typing a name, no longer freezes the app.

• Leaving the app right after logging something no longer kills it, so you come back to where you were.

• An exercise on two training days now progresses on each day separately (Premium), instead of your heavy day inheriting the light day's weight. Sets you add mid-exercise keep their suggestion too.

• The rest timer now stays in view on the workout's exercise list, and stops jumping around when you leave a workout.

• The step chart keeps up with your finger and colours days green or red against your goal, which you can now set from the chart itself. Drag anywhere across the bodyweight chart to read a day.

• Losing weight on a cut no longer shows up red on Home and in the widget, and the Weight widget's sparkline says it covers 7 days.

• Calories and macros now add up wherever you look: consumed plus remaining always equals your goal, and a banana's 0.4g of fat no longer reads as 0g.

• The macro ring got a proper redraw, with new amber, azure and violet colours that follow protein, carbs and fat everywhere, including the widgets. Every ring on Home got the same treatment, amount fields look like something you can type in, and the AI waiting screen shows the photo it's reading.

• The nutrition page now confirms what it just did: logging, copying, pasting and saving a meal.

• A food can be corrected more than once, and custom meals and recipes now carry saturates, sugars, fibre and salt.

• Weekly check-ins no longer go missing when you use two devices.

• The workout reminder follows your default plan, the step reminder stops nagging on a day you already hit your goal, and the weigh-in reminder counts a weight from Apple Health.

### 1.6.0 — 2026-08-13

What's New in 1.6.0

New
• Log single activities: walks, runs, rides, swims, group classes, hikes, rowing, HIIT and yoga, separate from a structured workout. Start a built-in stopwatch with live calories, type the duration yourself, or schedule one for later. A running timer keeps counting even if you close the app. Create your own activity types too, and they count toward your streak.
• Copy a meal to today: browsing an earlier day, tap "…" on a meal and choose Copy To Today to drop everything onto today's log.
• Insights gets a lot deeper (Premium): a lifetime card summing every workout, hour and set you've logged, weekly sets per muscle against the 10 to 20 optimal range, an 8-week trend for each muscle group, Strength Standards placing your big lifts from Beginner to Elite, a 14-day macro chart for protein, carbs and fat against your targets, and a "vs last week" comparison on your weekly training.
• Browse every exercise you've ever logged (Premium). Search, scrub through a chart of individual sessions with your finger, switch time ranges, and see records, history, and what to lift next.
• Your latest personal records now sit front and centre, newest first, with a searchable list of every record you've set.
• Set your own BMR. If you've had your resting burn measured, enter it and your calorie target follows from your number instead of an estimate.
• Subscribing now lands you on a proper welcome screen, and beating your all-time longest streak gets its own celebration.

Polish & fixes
• Nutrition label scanning is more accurate. Labels that list sodium in milligrams instead of salt are now read correctly, North American labels no longer double-count fiber, and foods without a manufacturer's panel no longer come up as zero calories.
• Correcting a scanned food now keeps its barcode, so the next scan of the same product matches your fix.
• Copying a meal keeps custom meals, recipes and serving sizes intact instead of flattening them into loose ingredients.
• No more empty gap after switching days in Nutrition. The page settles into place instead of leaving you scrolled past the end.
• The "check this food" warning stopped crying wolf on correctly labelled products like sugar-free drinks, spirits, and high-fiber cereals.
• Insights now opens with animated placeholder cards instead of half-filled ones, and its weekly charts start on Monday like everything else.
• Your data starts backing up the moment you subscribe, and signing in on a new device now waits for your history to arrive instead of opening to an empty-looking app.
• Workouts open faster, the Nutrition page is smoother on large accounts, and swiping between the macro charts no longer flickers.
• Exercises no longer show up blank when you start a workout, and discarding a workout is smooth and no longer risks a crash.
• Fixed a rare launch crash on older iPhones (iOS 18) that could happen right after a workout plan synced.
• Rest timer fixes: no more "0:00" flash when you come back to the app, and the "Done" confirmation waits for you instead of disappearing while you're away.
• Your weight and height units stay as you set them and no longer get reverted by your region.
• The daily reminder now covers scheduled activities as well as workouts, and stands down while you're in the middle of either one.

### 1.5.0 — 2026-08-07

What's new in 1.5.0

New
• Widgets: add Hugr to your Home Screen and Lock Screen. Calories, Steps, and Streak, plus a Weight tile and a combined Today tile, all reading your live numbers and refreshing through the day. (Premium)
• Hugr now works offline. Open it with no connection and go straight to your data. Log workouts, sets, weight, and food as usual, and it all syncs on its own the moment you're back online.
• More nutrition detail: swipe the calorie card on the Nutrition page to see saturated fat, sugar, fiber, and salt right alongside your macros.
• Hugr now lets you know when a new version is available, so you're never left on an old build.
• First-run tips point out things that are easy to miss, like tapping a set number to autofill it and swiping a meal or food entry for more options.

Polish & fixes
• Snap a food's nutrition label to fill in its macros in more places now, including your own custom foods and any food you edit, not just right after a barcode scan.
• Fresh food icons on the macro cards, and a premium gold restyle of the rest-timer Live Activity.
• Logging sets is smoother: typing reps or weight no longer stalls the app, and the Complete Exercise button now stays put at the bottom and keeps out of the way of the field you're filling in.
• Streak fixes: rest days no longer count as completed days or inflate your streak, correcting your streak now works in both directions, deleting today's workout undoes the day again, and finishing a workout updates your streak and milestone right away.
• Foods you star show up under Favorites straight away, even if you've never logged them, and the Calories widget now shows your real protein, carb, and fat goals.
• Assorted stability fixes, including a faster, more graceful loading screen and a sign-out crash fix.
• Snap a food's nutrition label to fill in its macros in more places now, including your own custom foods and any food you edit, not just right after a barcode scan. Nutrients the label doesn't list are now set to zero rather than keeping their old value.

### 1.4.0 — 2026-07-28

What's new in 1.4.0

New
• Streak milestones: when your training streak hits a milestone (1, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100 days and beyond), Hugr marks it with a full-screen celebration.
• Macros look off? On a scanned food, snap a photo of its nutrition label and Hugr reads the values for you to review. No more typing them in by hand.
• Personal Records now cover timed and distance exercises: see your longest hold, best time, and best distance in Insights, not just weight lifts.

Polish & fixes
• A redesigned, more celebratory post-workout summary showing your sets, volume, and any new PRs.
• Premium members now get a gold Hugr logo on the loading screen.
• The loading screen no longer covers a workout that's in progress.
• Fixed a weight rounding glitch when switching between lb and kg, corrected completion for timed/cardio-only workouts, plus assorted stability and UI fixes.

### 1.3.0 — 2026-07-26

What's new in 1.3.0

New
• Sleep Score widget — see last night's sleep quality at a glance (0–100) right on your Home screen. Add it from Edit Home → Add Widget.
• Smarter scanning — if a food or recipe photo is too blurry to read, Hugr now asks for a clear retake instead of filling in guesses.

Polish & fixes
• Editing a scanned food now keeps its NOVA (processing) badge.
• The nutrition page no longer clears when you enter an amount of 0.
• Smoother app launch, plus assorted stability and UI fixes.

Thanks for using Hugr!
