## What is Hum?

Some evenings you don't need advice. You just need to talk.

Hum is a voice-first place to do exactly that. No photos, no feeds, no real names — just your voice and someone else's, for a few honest minutes.

There's a reason talking helps. A worry kept in your head stays vague and runs in circles. Said out loud to another person, it becomes something you can actually look at — clearer, smaller, easier to handle. You hear yourself think. You get a little perspective. You close the app steadier than you opened it.

That's what Hum is for.

"Hum" is the sound you make when there's nothing in particular to say — and it also means "us." To hum is to be together without needing a reason.

How it works:

Each evening, for a few hours, Hum opens. That window is Golden Hour.

— Pick a name and an avatar. Your real identity stays yours.
— During Golden Hour, you're matched with someone through the topics you both care about.
— Talk. Low stakes, no pressure to perform.
— If it was a good conversation, Connect — only if you both choose to — and keep it going with voice notes.

You don't have to be okay. You don't have to have a story. You just have to show up and speak.

No camera. No real name. Just a voice, a stranger, and a few honest minutes.

Open Hum this evening. Leave with a clearer head.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.8 — 2026-10-20

More ways to find each other.

Choose the languages you speak when you arrive. Send a voice into the sky from Home — even before the evening, when Hum opens the way — and keep a little history when a request expires.

Drawing together goes further too: a steadier line, a voice beside it, and a better chance of finding someone at the other end.

Fewer interruptions. Safer retries. And when a new voice is waiting, Connections tells you again.

### 1.0.7 — 2026-10-07

A little company while the sky waits.

Outside Golden Hour, draw with someone new on a softly lit canvas. Keep your finger moving, and watch the glowing trail gently disappear behind you.

Nothing to save. Just a small moment to make together.

### 1.0.6 — 2026-09-25

Send one voice into the evening.

Record up to thirty seconds — who you are, or what's on your mind tonight — and Hum carries it to a few people who share your interests. Whoever answers, answers with their own voice.

Keep one, and you'll find each other in Connections.

One voice a day. The sky does the rest.

### 1.0.5 — 2026-09-04

A quieter release.

Hum is set in its own type now. Every title, every label, redrawn — the app finally reads the way it was drawn to.

The rest is careful, unglamorous work. Steadier timers. A straighter countdown. A list that tells you something worth knowing about the person, and nothing about when you last spoke.

Nothing new to learn. It should simply feel more like itself.

### 1.0.4 — 2026-08-26

Night has come to Hum.

The whole app now sits under a dark sky — an earthrise orb on Home, a ceiling of stars that shifts as you tilt the phone, and every so often, a comet.

A face of your own. Twenty painted personas, one of them yours. It stands in for you everywhere; there are no photographs on Hum, and there never will be. Change it once a day, straight from your picture.

Voice notes, simpler. One round button to record, one to send. Delete a hum for yourself or for everyone. And if you'd rather go quiet with someone, mute now stops voice notes and calls both ways — nothing already sent is removed.

Call someone you've kept. Ring a connection and hear them again.

Steadier on a poor line. Hum reconnects mid-call, holds your place mid-search, and tells you plainly when the network has gone.

Also: an Account Center for the practical things, a nudge when notifications are off, a confirmation before you leave a live call, and a new mark on your home screen.
