### 2/5 — Latest update 2.10 is garbage

*2021-09-03, version 2.10*

Performance is glitchy. Zoom out on map to find public land go to zoom in and boots you to current location. Cannot switch between layers and keep same property in view again boots you back to current location. Does not save waypoints. The egghead that created this update needs to get back at the drawing board

### 2/5 — Shooting hours selection broken

*2021-04-16, version 2.9*

The date selector for shooting hours has been broken from the beginning! How come this is so hard for you to fix??? Just a white empty box!

### 2/5 — Nice App but big issue

*2020-12-01, version 2.7*

The selection screen is blacked out, no idea what I am clicking which kinda makes it very hard to use to actually see the usefulness of the app.

### 3/5 — Hunting hours notifications

*2020-11-26, version 2.7*

For the most part I really like the app and it has definitely gotten better over the years. I’ve always thought that we should be able to get a silent alarm at the beginning and ending of hunting hours. Then my wife pointed out the notifications bell. So I ticked the beginning and ending notifications in the app and allowed notifications in the iPhone settings, but it still doesn’t work. I would really love to see this feature working. I believe it would encourage many more people to obey the shooting hours regulations, making the hunt safer for everyone! In the meantime I’ll continue to set a silent alarm on my iPhone every day.

### 2/5 — Season hours don’t work on iPhone

*2020-09-14, version 2.5*

It appears that the season hours do not work (shows null) on an iPhone but works on android. Is this a known issue or is there some setting tucked away that needs to be changed? It shows the correct user location.

### 4/5 — Fox river greenway

*2019-12-18, version 2.3*

Loving the app. So far have had a good experience. Quick walk through via YouTube video helped easily navigate the app. Only problem is the fox river greenway doesn’t show up on the app. However, maps are available on the website. Now I’m confused. Is the fox river greenway still public land I can bow hunt on???

### 2/5 — Maps will not load

*2019-11-11, version 2.2*

Great app if it worked correctly. I’ve tried with 2 different iPhones on WiFi and LTE, but it would never load the maps, and said that the connection was too slow. Too bad because there’s so much useful potential.

### 3/5 — App

*2019-10-04, version 2.2*

App is not on my iphone? I have to go to DNR website

### 2/5 — Bad app

*2018-11-17, version 1.8*

App does not work well on an iPhone 6s! Could of done a better job! They need to fix!

### 4/5 — Great App

*2018-11-15, version 1.8*

Love the app with all the available options. I do wish you could add photos and attach them to a waypoint you created. Let’s say you found a tree to put a stand in early in the season, since waypoints aren’t super accurate, a photo of that area or tree would be nice to have saved for future use. Maybe add that on the next update?!

### 2/5 — It’s a good start! Not for 2018 though

*2018-11-15, version 1.8*

Releasing an app before it’s finalized is one of the worst things you can do. The probability of people redownloading after they delete from the frustration is very low. The app has an enormous amount of glitches. First thing I did was click into the layers option and got stuck on that page, no back option to get back to the map.... I expect nothing less from Wisconsin.

### 3/5 — Good idea but...

*2018-11-12, version 1.7*

The Go Wild website is really terrific. The app is not ready for prime time. Link to Go Wild is incomplete (doesn’t show all licenses for instance).

Rather than trying to create such a comprehensive app with mapping etc, how about just a slick, mobile version of Go Wild that gets the basics right. Add features later

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback! The link to GoWild (My Licenses and Tags) contains all current hunting related tags/authorizations. Hunt Wild WI app does NOT have fishing information (at this time). Please make sure you are using the most recent build of the app to ensure the best possible experience!

### 2/5 — Public land but not public access

*2018-11-08, version 1.7*

Why does this app not show public access lands onX does they getting that information from the WI DNR but the DNR’s own app can’t...lame

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2022-11-01, version 2.17*

While the app can be useful, it’s an awe full user experience. I can never stay logged in. If I’d like to see my liscenses and then register a harvest, I have to log in twice.

WDNR HAVE THIS FIXED!!!! Read the reviews and prove you listen to your source of income!!!!!

### 1/5 — Cannot log in

*2021-11-26, version 2.12*

I reset my password and I can log in with an internet browser, but I can’t log in via the app.

### 1/5 — New version doesn’t work

*2021-08-30, version 2.10*

I use this app for hunting and it has been great. Now the new version is terrible. On my iPhone X the map refreshes every few seconds, and if you are zoomed in it bounces back out to the entire state map. It is basically unusable now. Don’t waste your time until they fix it!!

### 1/5 — New version has become bug infested!

*2021-08-28, version 2.10*

This app has become very buggy and unusable. Last year it was working pretty well and I would’ve given it four stars. I started trying to use it again in anticipation of hunting season and it is now crap. The map is very unstable and will not allow me to explore. Within seconds it starts Jittering and takes me back to current location or shows entire state encapsulated in purple lines. I cannot save a map any longer. I had about 25 saved last year and they were stable. The back button often and disappears and you are stuck. I have the same iPhone XR.
Have tried to problem solve this with Hunt Wild staff but to no avail. I have the latest iOS and app version, great Wi-Fi, and tons of memory on my phone. I have deleted and reinstalled the app at least 10 times. Same thing. Cleaned out my phone and rebooted but still not good. Tried the app on my wife’s phone and our iPad and same result.
The apps not working and they need to get it fixed soon. Hunting season is upon us. DNR staff said they’ve only encountered this a few times with iPhones. I strongly doubt that’s true and a lot of people have iPhones!
It has the potential to be a very useful product but it’s a total waste now.

### 1/5 — Tracking your location

*2021-08-07, version 2.10*

It has been confirmed to me that this app tracks your locations and wardens can see were people with this app are.

### 1/5 — App issues

*2020-11-12, version 2.6*

Have had a issue since the app updated just showing a white box where the shooting hours scroll is to change the date to see hours. Reported a issue through the app explaining what I did, like force closing the app, uninstalled and reinstalled, checked my settings, restarted my phone and the issue is still there. Got a email response telling me to do everything I already did. Love this app otherwise. Please fix this issue and please reach out if you have any questions about my issue

### 1/5 — Kind of worthless

*2020-10-28, version 2.6*

Doesn’t have Managed Forest Lands (which are open to public). Can’t seem to link my GoWild account. Worth being “free” I guess. I would never pay for this app, unless they did a major update / fix.

### 1/5 — Problems

*2020-08-15, version 2.5*

I am trying to print all my licenses. Could not remember user name or password. So I went through account look up. It found my account. Then asked to send me my user name and reset password. Did that. Still does not work unless I go through search for my account. How can I trust this app to register the deer I may shoot. I will delete this app and use the Dnr web site. Please fix

Thanks for fixing my password. But I still can’t link the app to the account to print my licenses. It says there is an error linking the account.

### 1/5 — Awe full

*2019-09-09, version 2.2*

I’ve tried to delete and re download this app a million times in an attempt to logon. Sometimes it will allow me to logon but will never give me access to the maps, waypoints, tracks or regulations feature. It will often just not let me logon saying my password is incorrect. I’ve even changed my password a bunch of times but the problems continue to persist. I tried logging on with my google account but that always comes back with an error message saying it ran into problems. I am assuming that the DNR knows this is junk because I have emailed them at their stated app email account several times in the past 3 weeks and have had ZERO responses from them. This app is junk!

**Developer response:** Phil,

Clearly this was our fault - on behalf of the Wisconsin DNR I apologize for the poor service that you have been experiencing. Your password has now been reset - please check your email for additional information and if you experience any more difficulties please contact us again and I promise that you will receive a response that same business day.

Very best regards,

The Hunt Wild Support Team

### 1/5 — Worthless waste of time

*2018-11-06, version 1.7*

Like everything the DNR does- they goofed it up. Constantly requires a password, does NOT link to Go Wild to access licenses. Worthless.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Exactly what I needed

*2022-09-15, version 2.15*

Very simple to use. Gives me exactly what I needed; was looking for a free app that showed public hunting land in Wisconsin and this does the trick. Only thing I would add as an update would be to show where the entrances are on the public lands. I had to look at the maps myself to find them.

### 5/5 — Hunt wild app

*2020-11-28, version 2.7*

Great app everything you could want in a app and more just would add Duck identification on duck hunting section but would highly recommend this app for all Wisconsin hunters 👍

### 5/5 — Really good

*2020-11-24, version 2.7*

DNR did something good. App works like a champ.

### 5/5 — Useful in the field.

*2020-11-04, version 2.6*

Great, useful app to have in the field. Love the maps and fast access to regulations.

### 5/5 — Love it!!

*2019-09-18, version 2.2*

Love the regs and maps.
Love that this app is free!

### 5/5 — Great App

*2018-11-23, version 1.8*

For a version 1 app I am impressed. I credit the DNR getting the app in market to test and learn from the experience and feedback of real users. It is the way modern software is developed.

I downloaded the app a day before gun deer season. When it came time to register my deer I could not have been happier. Previous years under the former system were distractingly difficult. This year it was a breeze.

I am sure future versions will address some of the feed back from real users being collected, accelerating the benefits of the app. I hope fishing is added as a category soon.

Thanks DNR staff for advancing technology and ease of use for the people you serve.

Charlie

### 5/5 — Amazing App!

*2018-11-21, version 1.8*

this app is all you could ask for... everything you need to know where u are going early in the morning. DNR made a great free app.

### 5/5 — Game on!

*2018-11-15, version 1.8*

This is a responsible alternative to caring paper or plastic card licenses in the field. The other functionality of this app is a nice bonus.

### 5/5 — Great idea

*2018-11-05, version 1.7*

It seems like this will be a good resource to use. I’m excited to try it out. Lots of cool features.

### 5/5 — Awesome App!

*2018-09-04, version 1.1*

This app is exactly what I’ve been looking for. It’s easy to use but packs a lot of up to date hunting info. Thank you, Wisconsin DNR for making this happen! Can’t wait to get out this season.
