Not user friendly at all. I’ve had this system for four years now and dread trying to set it all up again each spring, it can take me hours of frustration each time. This year I gave up after an hour and have resorted to just using the manual override as I can’t bear the hours of repetitive useless back and forth between the app screens. Just got back from 2 weeks away and the garden is dying. Went to reset the schedule and when connected to the system the whole app is frozen not allowing any function at all. No answers on troubleshooting and have tried deleting and reinstalling with the same issue. ### 1/5 — Frustrating & unreliable *2025-04-08, version 6.1.34* The $250 controller product from hunter that is supposed to maintain a $$$$ garden relies on this app. It is unreliable, frustrating, and leaves one wondering why they installed all that Hunter irrigation hardware. ### 1/5 — Review: Hunter BTT Bluetooth Tap Timer – Total Waste of Money *2025-02-27* I bought the Hunter BTT Bluetooth Tap Timer (2-station) expecting a reliable way to manage my garden watering, but this device has been an absolute disaster. First off, the manual mode doesn’t even work properly. I set it for an hour, walk away, and within minutes, it just shuts off on its own. Sometimes it only waters for a few seconds before stopping completely. No warnings, no way to override—just completely unreliable. The Bluetooth connection is terrible. If you walk just a few meters away, it disconnects, and when you reconnect, it claims the watering cycle is done—even though it barely ran. What’s the point of a Bluetooth tap timer if I have to stand next to it the entire time? This thing is destroying my garden because it won’t water consistently. I’ve tried different settings, new batteries, and even reinstalled the app—nothing fixes it. For $100, this is absolute rubbish. There are way better options out there, like Wi-Fi tap timers that actually stay connected and work properly. Do not buy this unless you enjoy frustration and dead plants. Often hangs or does not even load - just a white blank screen! Hunter is an irrigation company, not an IT company and not an app company. They make great Irrigation systems and Great sprinklers and Great sprinkler heads and everything associated with lawn Irrigation. However, they are not a technology company, and the technology people who work for them do so by default because they cannot get jobs at real technology companies. That is why the app and the connectivity issues and the software are awful. Every review on here says the exact same thing, and I completely agree with them. The hardware works fine but the software is basically terrible and unreliable. Think about this for a minute: if you are a young, smart IT person/technology person graduating from college is your goal in life to work for Hunter Irrigation system designing their apps and software? Of course not! Do you want to work for Google or yahoo Microsoft, etc. That's the bottom line. Unacceptable. ### 1/5 — Avoid, I can’t believe this has been brought to market it is that bad. *2025-12-03* This system is really bad. The Bluetooth is patchy at best, the ux is terrible. The control is terrible. I have two of these controllers and am not a silly person when it comes tech operation. Example - My tap one and tap two channel controls turn off and on at random, and switch their number (zone 1 becomes zone 2 at random), the off and on position switch at random (so a scheduled run time of 30 minutes equates 23 hrs and 30 mins). I could work with backwards parameters, however, they switch back at random intervals. It is like engineering a burst water pipe at random intervals, flooding the neighbourhood and wasting precious water. I have tried the factory reset, the issue persists. I am surprised in 2025 that this has even been brought to market. It shows it’ll turn on in 3 days, the week & month view show it’ll turn on every 3 days & it just doesn’t turn on, ever. I have to either manually run it or I can tick a day (say Tuesday) & it’ll turn on every Tuesday (even though it’ll still say it’s running every 3 days)! I’ve had the unit replaced, the landscaper, retailer, and service tech have all come out & no one knows why or how to fix it.
