## What is Hush?

Hush helps you notice what your baby is doing when they cry - and gives you something specific to try next.

Record six seconds. Hush looks at the cry (its pitch, loudness, rhythm and how it builds) alongside what your baby's face and body are doing: rooting, arching, knees drawing to the tummy, gaze turning away, hands to the mouth, heavy eyelids. It then shows you what parents and researchers commonly associate with that combination, how sure it is, and what to try.

HONEST ABOUT WHAT THIS IS
Hush is for general information and entertainment. It is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, screen for or rule out any condition, and it is not a substitute for advice from your pediatrician. No app can know what a baby is thinking - Hush reports what is commonly associated with what it observed, and says how confident it is.

WHERE THE INFORMATION COMES FROM
Open "What Hush is built on" inside the app. Every source is named with a reference you can look up - ChatterBaby (PMC7033040), the Neonatal Facial Coding System, NCAST engagement cues, PURPLE crying and more - along with what each one does NOT show, and the confidence limits Hush enforces on itself. Where the evidence is thin, we say so; the popular "five sounds" idea is listed as something Hush deliberately does not rely on.

Hush is independent and not affiliated with any hospital, university or researcher.

PRIVACY
Your recording is used to produce the reading and is not stored. You can delete your account and everything in it from inside the app at any time.
