## What is Hushel?

Hushel turns your phone into a small, calm sound studio. Layer rain, ocean waves, a crackling fire, gentle music, and focus tones into one blend — then sleep, focus, or unwind.

Most sound apps play one track at a time. Hushel lets you STACK them. Add rain, drop distant thunder behind it, mix in a slow piano, and set the volume of every layer independently. Your mix, your way.

LAYER YOUR OWN MIX
Tap a sound to add it, tap again to remove it. Blend as many as you like — they all play together and loop seamlessly, with no gap or click at the loop point. That matters for sound you leave running all night.

16 NATURE SOUNDSCAPES
Rain, Rain on Glass, Thunderstorm, Sea Shore, Ocean Waves, Stream, Waterfall, Fireplace, Birds Chirping, Turtle Doves, Crickets, Wind, Wind Chimes, Underwater, Bubbling, and a Tibetan Singing Bowl. All are real field recordings, cleaned up and looped by hand so nothing repeats obviously.

38 ORIGINAL MUSIC TRACKS
Full-length instrumental pieces written for this app — hammered dulcimer, the West African kora at sunrise, a slow orchestral adagio, harp and strings, fingerstyle guitar, Celtic harp and low whistle, warm chillwave, deep dub, analog synth sequences, a music-box lullaby, and quiet pieces built around a resting heartbeat, slow breathing, and rain heard from an empty room.

4 BINAURAL BEATS
Unwind (8 Hz Alpha), Focus (10 Hz Alpha), Calm Focus (12 Hz SMR), and Alertness (15 Hz Beta). Each eases down from a waking rate to its target over the first few minutes. Headphones required — the beat exists in the gap between your ears, not in either one.

3 BILATERAL TONES
Add soft, slow alternating tones to your mix:
• Click — a crisp, clean tick for subtle texture
• Pure Tone — a smooth 432 Hz alternating tone
• Lazer — a playful sweep tone

Adjust the pace from 0.3 Hz to 3.0 Hz to find what feels right. Best with headphones.

44 QUICK MIXES
Not sure where to start? One tap loads a ready-made blend — Storm Hearth, Rain Veil, Tide Lullaby, Deep Fathoms, Reading Nook, Quiet City, Morning Walk, and more.

SLEEP TIMER
Set a gentle timer and the sound stops on its own after you have fallen asleep. No reaching for your phone.

SAVE YOUR PRESETS
Found a blend that works? Save it and load it again in one tap.

SIMPLE BY DESIGN
No accounts. No ads. No tracking. No subscription. It works completely offline once installed.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.9 — 2026-08-11

Thunderstorm is back, rebuilt from a new recording — close thunder rolling over steady rain.

New Shuffle button on the quick mixes. One tap loads a random blend.

Volume sliders now work in decibels, the way your device volume does, so the same movement gives the same change in loudness and there is far finer control at low levels.

### 1.0.8 — 2026-08-06

A much bigger music library.

• 24 new music tracks. The Music section has grown from 14 pieces to 38 — hammered dulcimer, kora at sunrise, a slow orchestral adagio, felt piano, dub, warm chillwave, deep om and theta drones, and a set of quiet "concept" pieces (a resting heartbeat, rain heard from an empty room, a city hushed under snow, someone else asleep in the room).

• A quick mix for every track. Each music piece now anchors its own one-tap quick mix, paired with a fitting soundscape — so there's a ready-made starting point for every mood.

• Tidier quick mixes. Duplicate mixes were removed so each piece of music appears in exactly one, and the quick-mix and music shelves now lay out six tiles per page like the rest of the library.

• Softer nature sounds. The soundscapes now sit quieter and more in the background, especially the louder ones like waves, waterfall and crickets — so they set the scene instead of taking it over.

• Works with your speakers and the lock screen. Hushel now appears in Control Center, on the lock screen and in the AirPlay picker like any other music app, so you can send a mix to a HomePod or other speaker and pause it without opening the app.

• Reworked sounds. The singing bowl is struck more often instead of trailing off into silence between rings, the bubbling is one steady stream rather than several at once, and the turtle doves are slower and lower.

• Retuned quick mixes. Several mixes were re-paired on listening feedback — At Rest now has rain on glass with distant thunder, Quiet City swaps rain for turtle doves, Morning Walk moves to crickets and wind, and Shared Room to rain.

Everything from the 1.0.7 audio overhaul carries forward — clean loops that start at the beginning, steadier stereo, and a balanced mix.

### 1.0.7 — 2026-07-23

A big update to how Hushel sounds.

• An all-new sound library. Every soundscape has been rebuilt from a higher-quality recording — a babbling brook, an open countryside dawn chorus, a warm crackling wood fire, and a new Crickets soundscape for summer nights.

• Cleaner loops. We found and fixed a bug that was quietly compressing the audio, flattening the crackle out of the fireplace and adding a restless quality to long listens. Every loop has been re-rendered.

• Music that starts at the beginning. Every music track was opening partway through its own recording, so a piece began somewhere in its own middle. They now start where the music starts.

• Longer loops that don't repeat. Most soundscapes are now twice as long, so they stay in the background instead of announcing themselves.

• Steadier stereo. The wind no longer drifts between your ears on headphones.

• Better balance in a mix. Soundscapes now start a little lower than music, so the melody comes through instead of being buried by the bed.

• Named mixes. Load a quick mix or a saved preset and its name now appears on the Mix tab.

• A refreshed set of quick mixes to start from.

### 1.0.6 — 2026-06-23

• A refreshed sound library — new soundscapes and music, carefully balanced so every sound sits at the same comfortable volume.
• Smoother, seamless looping across all sounds.
• New one-tap Quick Mixes: Cozy Cabin, Deep Sleep, Forest Morning, and more.
• Save your own custom mixes and feature them right on the home screen.
• Cleaner browsing with the most popular sounds first.

### 1.0.5 — 2026-06-20

Hushel is here — a calmer, simpler way to build your perfect soundscape.

• Fresh new look and refined Sounds, Mix, and Presets tabs
• Save a preset right from the mini-player — no need to open the full mixer
• Smoother playback and a cleaner launch experience
• Various stability improvements and polish

Thanks for using Hushel. Sweet dreams.
