## What is Hushy?

Hushy is a messenger for conversations that should stay between the people in them.

You don't sign up with a phone number or email. You pick a name, share a one-time invite, and start talking. Your messages are encrypted on your phone before they leave it, and every connection goes through Tor. Our server passes sealed envelopes along. It can't read them, and it doesn't know who sent them.

ROOMS INSIDE EVERY CHAT
Give a chat its own rooms, like Trip, Budget or Photos. Each room has a colour, its own unread count and its own messages, so plans don't get buried under memes. Every chat starts with General.

GROUP CHATS
Start a group with the people you trust. Everyone gets an invitation and joins only if they accept. Group messages are end-to-end encrypted too, and groups get rooms as well.

CALLS
Voice and video calls, end-to-end encrypted. Calls go through Tor by default, so the person you call never sees your IP address.

CHANNELS
Post updates to many people at once. Subscribers stay anonymous, even to you.

PRIVATE BY DEFAULT
- End-to-end encryption on every message, photo, video and voice note
- Every connection goes through Tor, so your IP address stays hidden
- No phone number, no email, no contact upload
- A post-quantum layer (ML-KEM) on top, so messages recorded today stay sealed later
- Safety numbers you can compare in person to check nobody is listening

MESSAGES THAT DON'T STICK AROUND
- Disappearing messages: you choose how long after they're read
- View once photos and videos
- Screenshots and screen recordings are blocked inside the app
- Notifications only say "New message". Never who sent it or what it says

YOUR ANONYMOUS LINK
Claim a link like hushy.id/yourname. Anyone can send you an anonymous message from their browser, without installing anything. You can reply privately, and they still don't learn who you are.

MEET PEOPLE THROUGH PEOPLE YOU TRUST
Tell your contacts what kind of person you want to meet, like a plumber, a lawyer or a running partner. A friend who knows someone can introduce you, and you only connect if both of you agree.

KEEP CHATS TO YOURSELF
- Archive chats you don't need right now
- Hide chats, groups, channels and notes behind a secret code you type into search
- Lock the app with Face ID or a separate PIN
- Pin, clear or delete chats with a swipe
- Report and block anonymous senders in one step
- Delete your account any time from Settings

EVERYDAY TOOLS
- Edit or recall a message for 5 minutes after sending it
- Shared reminders on any message. Each phone keeps its own alarm, so our server never knows
- Link previews made on the sender's phone through Tor
- Open links in Hushy Browser through Tor, or in your usual browser
- Up to five profiles on one phone
- Private notes, with an optional Face ID lock

We read reports of abuse on anonymous links and remove handles that break the rules.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 3.2.0 — 2026-10-22

New in Hushy 3.2:
- Voice and video calls. Calls go through Tor by default, so the person you call never sees your IP address.
- Channels. Post updates to many people at once. Subscribers stay anonymous, even to you.
- Shared reminders. Long-press any message to remind everyone in the chat. Each phone sets its own alarm, so our server never knows.
- Edit or recall a message for 5 minutes after you send it.
- Archive chats. Pull down at the top of your chats to find them again.
- One list for chats, groups, channels and notes, newest first. Hide any of them behind your secret code.
- Link previews are made on the sender's phone through Tor, so the person you send a link to never contacts the site.
- Hushy Browser. Open links inside Hushy through Tor, with private search and tabs that vanish when you close them. Choose where links open in Settings.
- Up to five profiles on one phone, each with its own name, contacts and link.
- Private notes, with an optional Face ID lock.
- Bots and mini-apps inside chats.
- Messages you send in a room take that room's colour.
- Messages send faster.
- Invite links now open straight into Hushy from other apps.

Plus fixes for calls, notifications, scrolling and app lock.

### 3.0.0 — 2026-10-16

Blim is now Hushy, rebuilt from scratch as a private messenger.

New in this version:
- Rooms inside every chat. Split a conversation into topics like Trip or Budget, each with its own colour and unread count.
- Group chats. Invite people you trust; they join only if they accept.
- Introductions. Post what kind of person you're looking for and let a friend introduce you.
- Your own anonymous link at hushy.id, with private replies.
- Disappearing and view once messages, hidden chats and app lock.

Everything is end-to-end encrypted and sent through Tor, and you don't need a phone number.

Hushy is a new app, so old Blim messages and accounts don't carry over. Set up your name and share your invite to start.

### 2.0.4 — 2023-06-02

- Introduction of guest sessions. This is a way to create an anonymous account and enjoy all features of Blim.

### 2.0.3 — 2023-05-22

No release notes.
