ROUTE PLANNER AND TIMETABLE 
Always find the best routes by bus, subway, train and ferry. The intelligent hvv route planner is your navigation system for Hamburg's public transport and shows you the relevant travel information for your route in real-time. In addition, you can add another stopover to your route. Is your bus or train delayed? Or is another route faster than the train? With the hvv route planner, you always have the latest travel advice at your fingertips and reach your destination even faster. 

BUY A MOBILE TICKET 
As soon as you know where you want to go, all you need is the right public transport ticket. From single tickets to group tickets - you can find many tickets in the hvv app and conveniently buy them on the go as mobile tickets. 

7 % DISCOUNTS ON MOBILE TICKETS 
Pay for your public transport tickets online via PayPal, SEPA direct debit or credit card and save 7% compared to buying them at a ticket machine or on the bus. Weekly and monthly tickets and the Hamburg CARD are excluded. The displayed price of the ticket already includes the discount.  

BOOKMARK DESTINATIONS & LINES  
For even more convenience, you can save stops and addresses as favourites. You can also save frequently used locations, such as work or home, to navigate to them with one click from the home screen. This saves you time when planning your route and makes it even easier to start your journey. 

DEPARTURES NEAR YOU 
You know where to go? We’ll show you when to go! The hvv app shows you the departures of all lines at the stops in your area. Just swipe down on the home screen of the app and find out about current departures. This way, you can easily see when you have to hop on and save yourself the search for connections. ENABLE CONTACTS & SHARE CONNECTIONS 
Enable your contacts in the app and select your destination in the route planner directly from your address book. Share your connection if needed or add it to your calendar.

Always stay up to date. All messages for your favourite lines are clearly displayed under "Messages". In addition, you can create alarms for lines, weekdays and time periods and be warned of disruptions via push messages. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work.

Crashes when I try and pay via PayPal. Sends me in a loop with no escape when I try and pay via card. Wish I could use the far superior Berlin app.

### 3/5 — Fahrzeiten Falsch

Meist funktioniert sie gut, aber immer wieder sind die regulären Fahrzeiten in der App falsch. Dann wird ein Bus mit einer Abfahrzeit angegeben, die nicht mit dem Aushang übereinstimmt. Wenn er dann zur Aushangszeit fährt, wird der Bus als verspätet angegeben. Busse, die gar nicht fahren, werden immer wieder als „nicht mehr erreichbar“ angegeben, anstatt als „entfällt“. An manchen Haltestellen können die Verbindungen nicht gefunden werden, wenn man nur nach einem Abschnitt sucht, aber in der Verbindung mit der S Bahn wird der Bus dann angezeigt. Für Busse empfiehlt sich also, sich nicht auf die App zu verlassen, weil es sonst schon einmal vorkommen kann, dass man 20 (oder mehr) Minuten wartet, weil es die angezeigte Verbindung nicht gibt.

Ich nutze die hvv App immer dann, wenn ich in Hamburg bin und komme damit auch als Tourist sehr gut zurecht. Die Bedienung ist einfach, alles wirkt übersichtlich und auch die Preise sind nachvollziehbar dargestellt. Für mich eine sehr hilfreiche App, die zuverlässig funktioniert.

### 3/5 — Ticketkauf unkompliziert, Verbindungsanzeige ausbaufähig

In letzter Zeit habe ich festgestellt, dass die Verbindungsanzeige leider völlig unzuverlässig ist. Es werden weder alle existierenden Verbindungen angezeigt noch gibt es eine Benachrichtigung bei ausfallenden Verbindungen. Dadurch verifiziere ich nur noch über die DB Navigator App, welche im übrigen auch die Uhrzeiten von Zwischenhalten anzeigt - etwa bei Regionalbahnen.
Auch diese Funktion vermisse ich in der hvv App. Performance Probleme sind leider auch nicht gerade selten. Trotz mobilem Internet werden dann gar keine Verbindungen geladen. Alles in allem kann ich derzeit nur 3 Sterne vergeben.

Bin großer Fan des HVV (wenngleich die Preise etwas niedriger sein sollten), der einen zuverlässig und meist gut getaktet durch die Stadt transportiert, und finde auch die App sehr funktional und benutzerfreundlich. Einziges Manko: Gelegentlich zeigt die App zu unverlässig/spät an, wenn Busse ganz ausfallen. Kommt nur sehr selten vor, aber wenn, dann ist es umso ärgerlicher, wenn der App-Fahrplan einen nicht rechtzeitig darüber informiert.

The app has a nice interface but unfortunately seems riddled with system issues and repeatedly throws up payment errors due to system unresponsiveness. Tends to work half an hour later without any user changes. It’s particulars upsetting as tickets at the machines are more expensive.

Can’t create account as the app won’t send me a verification email. Gives me a prompt saying I can but no link to click. Going to Hamburg tomorrow so if anyone sees this please help

Ich bin normalerweise ziemlich zufrieden mit der App und nutze sie jeden Tag, aber seit dem Update crasht sie auch bei mir, lässt sich also nicht mehr öffnen (iOS 15.7). Bitte behebt das!
Edit: Ende November 2025 besteht das Problem immernoch.

Kalendereintrag (iphone, Apple-Kalender) wird mit dem Ort der Zielhaltestelle erstellt. Nach meinem Dafürhalten macht der Ortseintrag der Abfahrtshaltestelle mehr Sinn, denn bis dahin will ich ja die Wegzeit berechnen lassen.
Ansonsten tut sie fast immer was sie soll.
Kauffunktion allerdings dank D-Ticket schon lange nicht mehr genutzt.
