### 3/5 — Outdated app

*2026-03-09, version 2.1*

The strength programs are great, but the app is honestly embarrassingly basic and outdated. There are so many better apps for training… half of their exercises don’t even have images or videos to accompany. It’s clunky, but also overly basic. For how long this app has been around, it’s wild to me how outdated it still is

### 2/5 — Great training programming but terrible app

*2023-04-21, version 2.0*

The training programs are excellent for reaching your training goals. However, the app’s web-based format and terrible connection to its servers make it a kick in the shins to use. Some of the data entered doesn’t save because the app is constantly (90% of the time) stating that there is either no internet connection or that it’s lost connection to the servers.

Hybrid, please improve the stability, platform, server connection, and user interface experience. I know this isn’t your only review about this issue. I would usually not comment on any of these issues, but since this is a subscription-based program, I feel that feedback is vital to the users’ experience with your app.

### 2/5 — Lots of bugs & mediocre customer service

*2023-04-02, version 2.0*

Previously a long time hybrid user and fan. Returned recently after a short break and am not liking the app nor how the programs are offered.

You can’t pick your workout days or advance to the next week on your own. If you pay 1 year in advance for the discount you are stuck with that program for an ENTIRE YEAR.

The notes area is very finicky and hard to write in (constantly deletes).

It’s a good price point and the actual workouts are great, I’d just like them to fix the bugs and make it more user friendly.

### 3/5 — Decent but some flaws

*2023-02-04, version 1.99*

The programs seem to be effective, however some of the exercises don’t match up with the videos on some warmups/workouts. For example I have lat pulldowns but the video is of a row.

### 2/5 — Never loads

*2023-01-16, version 1.98*

When the app actually manages to load I love it. But the app takes forever to load to the point where I don’t even have the time to train what’s scheduled and end up doing my own thing so I can actually get a lift in that day.

### 3/5 — Updates are buggy

*2023-01-07, version 1.98*

Every time the app updates it is loaded with bugs. Check your app before heading to the gym to ensure it works. Programming is great but app not so much.

### 4/5 — Much improved

*2022-06-30, version 1.81*

I like all the improvements so far would be 5 star if there was an audible notification for the end of the rest timer

### 2/5 — Can’t login

*2022-05-17, version 1.7*

App won’t go past login screen

### 3/5 — Text box keeps trying to auto correct everything before finishing

*2022-03-23, version 1.7*

Text box

### 4/5 — Awesome app (elsie7)

*2022-01-22, version 1.6.1*

Great for tracking progress
Great workouts
Timer feature
Love that almost every single exercise has video and photo demos - easy to access

Love how you can easily quickly check what RPE you’ve done previously

Feeling so much stronger & love the program - even as a working mum, I love it. Up to day 32 - have already reached one goal of 50kg bench press!

Worth every cent to sign up

@elsie7

### 3/5 — Lack of links to instructional videos

*2022-01-06, version 1.6.1*

Very disappointed about the “bank for your buck” trade off.
The monthly subscription is high compared to the quality of the content of the App. There are no links to instructional videos for any of the movements prescribed. The creators didn’t even bother create their own videos demonstrating the movements. Instead you watch a coach talking for 15 mins about how to do the movements. Really?
In terms of capabilities, for instance, when pull ups are prescribed , it doesn’t consider this is a body weight movement, so the “weight” field is not necessary, but it forces you to add a number.
As soon as I finish my program I’ll cancel my subscription.
Thanks

### 2/5 — Crashes

*2022-01-03, version 1.6.1*

This app is very poor . Continually crashes, total waste

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — This is about the app not about the program.

*2024-03-15, version 2.1*

The program is awesome. I’ve seen serious results. This app is atrocious. You have to slowly press your reps and weights. If you hit it too fast the window closes and you have to start over. The timer never works once you open another app. i.e. if you want to change your song. The app functionality HMI is some of the worst I have seen.

### 1/5 — App

*2023-01-22, version 1.98*

The app does not function well

### 1/5 — App doesn’t load

*2023-01-07, version 1.98*

It’s loading forever and access my program

### 1/5 — Unable to type in notes

*2022-05-03, version 1.7*

Unable to type in notes w/o having what I already typed being deleted. Please fix! Other than that, love using the app.

### 1/5 — Will Take money and change products without notice

*2022-03-12, version 1.7*

HWPO training left the app. In a FAQ thread I asked if full refunds were going to be given as my invoice reflects HWPO training and it was switched to HYBRID WOD. My message was removed from the FAQ thread and all my permissions in the Discord removed. Yet another thing that I paid for access to that they took away.

### 1/5 — Underwhelmed

*2022-03-01, version 1.6.3*

While the programming (Body) is sound, it is overpriced. I expected the app to have far more built in features for the price. I’ve seen programs just as great for much less on TrainHeroic and Trainerize. I prefer tracking in a notebook in comparison to this app. Hybrid is great, love the podcasts and content on social media but the app wasn’t nearly as cool.

### 1/5 — Great workouts, terrible app

*2022-01-30, version 1.6.1*

I have been using the HWPO60 program. I like the workouts and design. However the app it not helpful in executing the working efficiently. You are able to enter your PR’s for exercises, but for exercises based on percent of PR the app doesn’t calculate them. Also there isn’t a countdown timer. For example if you are supposed to do strength sets every 2 minutes on the 2 minute mark there should be an Emom timer built in. Also when a new PR is achieved it does not automatically update your PR’s list. I use another app with all of the above features integrated. It is a nuisance to import the workout just so I can follow the program efficiently and track my progress.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2022-01-28, version 1.6.1*

App keeps crashing. Try emailing the Team Hybrid folks in Miami FL….. they won’t get back to you. Mat Fraser should be embarrassed to have his programming on this app.

### 1/5 — Can’t get into lifts

*2022-01-02, version 1.6.1*

Currently every time I attempt to get into an exercise (ie back squat) the app fails and stops. I can’t find out percentages or rep ranges. Feels like I’ve wasted my money. Can’t get hold of anyone to solve the problem either. The app lets the programming down

### 1/5 — Good luck canceling.

*2021-12-20, version 1.5*

Got bored with the repetitive nature of the work out programs and paying the outrageous fee to simple conduct the same work out every 3 days. Went to cancel and couldn’t find the option within the app so contact the support channel. Was told to go through the app even though I expressed in the email I wasn’t presented that option. Poor customer service for an overpriced repetitive workout program.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Buena, nada que decir.

*2022-10-03, version 1.95*

Buenismo el equipo de soporte y que puedas quedarte con los entrenamientos cuando dejas de pagar la mensualidad es increíble

### 5/5 — Notes and timer aren’t great

*2022-06-05, version 1.81*

Timer disappears if you try to look at anything in the app and pauses if you turn off your phone screen. Notes section deletes what I type and sometimes adds it again. Other times I have to type it just for what I previously typed to pop up again. Kind of annoying.

Edit: improvements to the notes and the reps and weight have vastly improved. The timer now stays on when the screen is off. All of my complaints have been addressed and fixed.

### 5/5 — Epic

*2022-02-20, version 1.6.2*

Epic amazing workout tool. Great explanations!
Worth the money no matter where you are in your journey from beginner to advanced!

### 5/5 — HWPO

*2022-01-31, version 1.6.1*

Burnt out on programming my own workouts. Needed something light a fire under me and this is 100 percent what I needed!

### 5/5 — 10/10

*2022-01-29, version 1.6.1*

Workouts are tough , but like the description, doesn’t ruin you. Definitely happy with the program so far and looking forward to the rest of it

### 5/5 — Hybrid review

*2022-01-24, version 1.6.1*

I have used hybrid for 1.5 years. I started on the web based platform and now on the app. The structure and evidenced based training has really improved myself as a competitive athlete. Video are super helpful to better understand the movements. Access to coaches has been super helpful with form checks and questions. It is structured with purposed and isn’t some bro science programming. It has helped me reach powerlifting and physique goals. It provides the template and you have to put in the work. 100% worth it in my opinion. -willowgahr

### 5/5 — Greatest programs ever

*2022-01-24, version 1.6.1*

I have only been with Hybrid for 4 months now and it’s totally changed everything for me when it comes to training! I didn’t really know what to expect jumping into Hybrid Build but I knew I wanted a new approach to training. The program is so well thought out, super easy to follow, perfect level of challenge while still allowing me to come back day after day, and I love the variety that comes in the program! The app is hands down the best tool with easy tracking and super helpful tips with simple to understand instructions. What I get with my subscription is top tier! The webinars where the coaches answer all my questions in-depth, the discord group (where I’ve actually made friends through), and the content that Hybrid puts out is next level! At the end of just the first block my mind was blown at how insane my results were! I’ve put on slabs of muscle, my back squat, deadlift and bench numbers have gone through the roof and I feel stronger and look better every single week! For anyone reading this and you’re on the fence about joining Hybrid I’d say jump off that fence and join! After 9+ years of doing CrossFit I have never seen my body go through so many awesome changes in such a short period of time when switching to Hybrid.

### 5/5 — Great way to make gains!

*2022-01-13, version 1.6.1*

I had never had any structured weightlifting training prior to joining this program, but had been doing CrossFit for 2 years. I wanted to improve my Olympic lifts and this seemed like a great way to do so, so I took the leap and signed up. Once I started, I realized how much room I had to grow in my technique, and the Hybrid coaches were integral in that by reviewing my movements and giving me feedback. For anybody looking to improve in any aspects of your training, get real time feedback, and follow an awesome program that’ll get you stronger, I really recommend trying Hybrid Strength Coach! I’ve only been following it for a month and a half and I can’t wait to see where it takes me.

### 5/5 — Great, easy to follow programming.

*2021-12-09, version 1.5*

I’m 100 days in a I love this programming. It has simple videos to follow and there’s an instructional video each that explains the purpose of each exercise.

I love that it works off percentages. I’m getting injured way less because of that difference and starting to see gains that I haven’t achieved since early on doing CrossFit.

I used to give a lot of thought into my programming, now I just follow this and move on with my day.

There are zoom calls where Mat answers questions each month. Those are golden. I’ve learned so much for listening to those.

### 5/5 — Honest review

*2021-10-31, version 1.3.1*

So, I have never done CrossFit. I have been going to the gym to do general fitness for three years. Never had a coach or a trainer. Finally decided to get a little structure. 4 days in to this and so far I want to cry every day once I have finished the workout. I must be crazy because i continue to come back. So far this app has been great, from the tracking of each set, notes section at the bottom where I can explain what I did if I wasn’t able to complete the specified movement, full range of workouts on each day so it’s not just hitting one muscle group. I have absolutely no complaints and would recommend to everyone to try.
