It crashes every time when a direct number of three digits is inputted. This is a serious problem because I use it to play in church. Please address this problem as soon as possible. Thank you creating a great app. ### 4/5 — Not working *2019-10-17, version 6.2* This app is now working again under iPad iOS 13.2 ### 4/5 — Hymnal SDA-iPad *2019-10-05, version 6.2* This app is GREAT for use with iOS devices running iOS 12 or below. But it desperately needs updating to work properly with iOS 13. Under this latest operating system, this app crashes every time a direct hymn page number is input. You can still use either the alphabetical or numerical index to get to your desired hymn, but it takes much longer than the direct page number input. By the time you use the index to find the song title or number you are looking for, you’ve already missed out on singing the first verse with the congregation. Please, let’s get this fixed. Would also appreciate the addition of the historical dates and names listed at the top of each song in the actual SDA Hymnal as it adds some important context for many users, myself included. However that product is no longer supported so lost almost all music to the songs. It had intro to each song. But just like that one quite a few songs are missing. ### 4/5 — Good *2017-11-06, version 6.2* I love the fact that I can adjust the tempo of the music because by default most music tend to go so fast that the congregation couldn't even breathe following the default tempo. So the tempo slider is a great help. I just wish we can set our tempo of choice as default per song. There are also several hymns that need revisit for fixing. I'll list some problems: 1. A common problem is that, whenever a verse or verse-to-chorus is finished, there should be a good enough time to pause before starting the next verse. Not too quick and not too delayed—you know, a normal congregational singing. 2. Some songs do not even follow pause(fermata) very well. An example is hymn 183. It totally just skipped it. 3. Also, extra verses in music. I forgot what it was (I'll update when I'll come across it again) but there's one I noticed that we sang (3 verse song) and the music kept playing to 4th verse so I had to manually stop it. 4. Another one is in lyrics view-when you double tap on the lyrics to a smaller font view, some verses go missing. 5. And some song numbers in lyrics view do not match the correct one. 6. It'd be nice if songs are in order by number so when we want to go up/down a page, we can simply swipe left or right. Right now songs are shuffled, and I'm not sure the reason behind it. 7. I wish also that music volume is increased a bit. I noticed that the music volume is a tad softer than the regular full volume of any music. Not sure if it's Apple thing or a midi problem but it could be raised a bit higher. That's all I've noticed so far. Hoping for future improvements. Update: it only keeps getting better. Especially with all hymns having music now with intros and the ability to have piano or organ accompaniment as well as being able to control the tempo. Having the different possible lists or folders of bookmarks is nice too, and the ability to markup right on the score could prove useful. ### 4/5 — Love it! *2017-09-15, version 6.1* I love having the piano music to play the songs with! Great app. Just noticed that you can now add songs. I just added my 1st song great! And learned how to separate fav's by folder. User friendly and reliable. *2016-08-19, version 4.8* This is my go-to SDA Hymnal app. Finally someone made one with the music scores. It is comprehensive. To date I have not discovered any missing songs as in some of my other SDA Hymnal apps. It is easy to use, as well. Now I never pick up a hard copy songbook. My biggest complaint is that it is not available in an iPhone version. It's a little spendy, but worth it to have the actual music scores included. So many hymnals out there on the App Store are nothing but lyric lists. Not this one! The feature to play the music is also wonderful. Would like to be able to search by topics, like the back of the hymnal does, and to more easily search the added choruses. I love that they are included! Also wish I could make several sets of bookmarked hymns. For example, my favorites, plus songs I've picked for church service, plus maybe another song service. ### 5/5 — Great Hymnal App *2016-05-13, version 4.8* I had another hymnal app for awhile and it did fine; however, it had no musical score. With SDA Hymnal I am loving playing hymns on the organ from off my iPad! I can set up the whole service by bookmarking all the hymns and responses in the service (by tapping and holding the hymn it auto-bookmarks). Then a right flick will take you to the next hymn in the bookmark list. Very handy! The hymnal does not dim out but stays on till you go to another app or turn it off. Very important in the middle of a hymn! I like that all the responsive readings are included, complete with bold and plain text for antiphonal readings, all which mean I no longer need the "hardcopy" hymnal! I thank the developer for this great tool and the quick responses he always gives when I ask a question. ### 5/5 — Wonderful app *2016-03-19, version 4.8* I really like this app. I can enlarge it by turning my iPad so it is easier to read. My iPad is lighter than the hymnal. I like the musical score with this app. And I like it that there are a few songs with then background music. For example, I wish the songs had a prelude to them for congregational singing especially when their is no musical accompaniment. I wish all the songs had music. I love the additional songs at the end and I would like if you can add my favorite morning devotional hymns such as: The sun is on the land and sea New every morning is the love O Christ with each returning day I always wondered why did they remove them from the hymnal and left such a meager listing of morning/devotional hymns. It wasn’t a 5 star because there are some errors in lyrics and playback. But now it crashes (after iPad OS update) when you put in hymn numbers directly. You can work around it by using the number drop down menu. But it would be helpful if we could edit the title of the folders. Additionally, it would be great if we could select more than one song at a time and move it to a folder. I would have rated it five stars based on previous use. Now I give it three stars. Please fix! ### 3/5 — More work to be done SDAH *2013-11-26, version 4.0* SDAH Download In the older version, for the vision impaired you could rotate the iPad in any direction for convenience in portrait or landscape modes, and enlarge. But now it is fixed in only one direction. Not so good! Tapping the icon 123 always crashes the app. Not so good! Tapping the icon ABC always crashes the app. Not so good! Tapping the Tools button always crashes the app. Not so good! Since 2012 many of us complained not all songs were there. Some have been replaced. Good enough. Most corrections have been done. For example, popular Hymns 86, 100, etc have appeared in this edition. Good! Bookmarking made easy. Great! More choruses included in this new version for the young people. Good job! I tried to sing from my IPad for the first time today in church and had to use the hymnal book for all 3 songs. I am able to use the annotations to add chords above the melody line for chording instruments to use during the church service. I did find, however, that if I try to share a song, the annotations disappear, and I don’t know how to get them back other than starting from scratch. But each update has brought some GREAT improvements, like the ability to vary the speed of the playback. Brilliant! You can keep several lists of bookmarked hymns, each hymn is played with an introduction, & each is repeated so you can sing all the verses without having to restart the playback. I don't have access to my piano, so this app fills a real need. It adds a great deal to my daily worship time.
