I’m no different than a first time user. I love the site but I wish the application respected those who paid for it, especially since we were sold an app and it’s has functionality removed to make people pay. This is backwards and really messed with the community. Listeners aren’t super wealthy. There are more touch points then ever for discovering new artists. For some that can be bewildering. I love Hype Machine because it exposes me to songs and artists that I’d otherwise never come across. Super user-friendly with a vast collection of remixes and original cuts. Hype Machine is my go-to APP for music. I love being able to go back into my favorites library (582 tracks & counting!) and get reacquainted with songs I fell in love with over the years. I’m happy to be a monthly contributor. You won’t regret downloading Hype Machine! The response came 4 days later saying nope, nope, nope! Be clever if they just had a feedback@email to garner elder discernment of their app. It’s not a B—Corp like you think it is and the email listings are really a way to get you to see their green color player (which doesnot timestamp like breadtube does). Now it's just not what it used to be. I can't play the music unless the app in open ?! How is that even good!? I can access your website and play it from there better than the app! And offline playlist is not even an idea anymore. Very disappointed and I'm actually thinking about deleting the app I just need to get my play list and bye. So sad ### 1/5 — Terrible app - it's just SoundCloud advertising *2017-04-18, version 2.7.11* This app used to be amazing. And I have to emphasize the "used to". All of the features that made it great have been removed in the last few updates, so now all it does is constantly tell you to go listen to your favourite music on SoundCloud. I'm sure the developers got a nice cheque from SoundCloud, so congrats to them, but unfortunately this app is pretty much useless now. If you're looking for a way to listen to your tunes don't bother with this app, either get SoundCloud or find an alternative app. Key Features that were removed: - offline playback - listening to a track more than once (if you try to replay it says go to SoundCloud) What has been added: - SoundCloud advertising - more SoundCloud advertising - prompts telling you to buy SoundCloud premium I'm very disappointed as I used to recommend this app and site to everyone. Here's hoping something better comes along, and if I could rate this lower than 1 star I probably would. Goodbye old Hypem, you used to be something great. 👎🏻 ### 1/5 — ANOTHER CORPORATE SELLOUT *2017-04-05, version 2.7.10* The Hype Machine used to be a great platform for discovering new music. You could even store your favourite tracks offline to listen to while you were on the go. No longer - having sold out to SpinMedia and SoundCloud, the app is now full of ads and you have to be connected to the internet to listen to anything. You can move your playlist over to SoundCloud and listen to them offline... for a monthly fee!!! The app is now useless in my opinion. I was born in the 80s so grew up with burning CDs then sharing iPods and Napster playlists to find new music, that doesn’t happen anymore so I am super grateful to have Hype Machine to fill in the gaps where I used to discover music through my friends. ### 5/5 — Everyone asks me where I get my music! Best kept secret! Been a supporter for 10+ years! *2026-02-05, version 2.8.9* All my friends always ask me where I get my music from and if I have Spotify. I kindly say no because Hype Machine (for the past 10+years) has been my go to for all my music! I will always use it! It never disappoints! Literally the best music curators in the business! I can’t thank them enough for introducing me to tunes that come out as popular years later. They are ahead of the game, and you can find hits that no one else has! The app is 10/10.
