### 2/5 — complete crash out in AUM

*2026-02-09*

works as AUV3 plug in now. but cant run 2 or more instances of it at same time without crash…. needs another update?

**Developer response:** Issue should be fixed in Version 2.1.0. Please update and try again.

### 3/5 — Don’t Spend Too Much Time

*2025-11-24*

I paid for the full version and the AuV3 capabilities which is a nice, albeit expected, usability extension at this point. I love how minimalist the interface is. It took a while to really purge the depths because features weren’t immediately apparent to me (all good, I love exploring). But my problem is with how often this app crashes. I’d estimate I’m losing about 2 out of every 5 compositions at this point. I just lost about an hour and half worth of sequencing. I had built up 4 parts for 7 voices and that was after losing 2 parts on the previous session because the app stopped moving through parts 3 and 4 and was stuck on part 1- no way to access the later sequences. So I started over, only to have the whole thing crash down with no recovery possible. This has happened to me in different ways since I downloaded a few months ago. I have a saved track that literally won’t load groups without being stopped and restarted in the middle of play, I have another that won’t load additional groups at all and then the latest total loss of session because of random crashes. I’d say this app (which I want to love because it’s really well thought out) crashes on me weekly. Want to give it all the accolades and tell everyone to buy the full version but unless the stability is improved it’s little better than pretty UI.

### 2/5 — Close App !

*2025-11-04, version 2.0.8*

Can anybody tell me wear the close app button is as if you just swipe it closed your mic is still open and flashes red and is still live ?

### 3/5 — Colour

*2025-09-30, version 2.0.7*

Unfortunately on some of the pages I can't see a thing because the colour palette is so dark. Dark numbers on a dark background is not a good thing. Using light mode for the Ipad makes no difference. Please change the colour palette with those of us with less than perfect eyesight in mind. Thank you.

### 3/5 — What’s happened to the IAPs

*2025-04-25, version 2.0.1*

What’s happened to the pro IAPs in the latest version?

### 4/5 — Amazing Amazing Amazing, But…

*2022-03-14*

Ya NEED to be able to change the color. Just add a light or dark option and this will be the most glorious app ever. This color combo with the flashing of the pads makes me physically feel terrible. I wanna use it but I just can’t.

**Developer response:** There is a way to change the pad and group colors but I should eventually add a light option as well, true. Thank you for your feedback!

### 3/5 — Immediate issue

*2021-03-06*

Don’t know if this was a glitch or what, but as soon as I DL the app I started to mess around and the sample pads wouldn’t activate any sound (wasn’t on mute) but the sounds did come in in the piano roll setting. Any reason for this?

**Developer response:** Pads can now be triggered since version 2.0.

### 5/5 — Two thumbs up!

*2020-09-10*

What a freakin brilliant, intuitive, simple yet complex little sequencer. I literally had a dope little beat with just what it comes with in the lite version in like 5 mins. I just really dig this interface. It makes sense right away. Prolly gonna get the pro version since it has time stretch. A little curios about that. I hope in the pro version I can bring samples right in from the files app on iOS.

**Developer response:** Thank you 🙏🏻

### 1/5 — Feedback deleted because it’s not favorable???

*2020-08-14*

This is not a cool practice to remove app feedback when it’s not favorable. If anything, an honest feedback should help in making any product better.

The app is supposed to be an instrument but unfortunately is far from it, as if designed by someone who never played any instrument.

As said before , while the user interface has a clean and inviting layout, the app misses on some obvious opportunities to make it more user friendly. The pads suggest more direct interaction with them, yet they are basically just slots storing sounds, allow some x/y sound settings tweaking but can’t trigger the stored sound. This is while using a lot of space in the interface. Stored sounds can’t be played by tapping on the pad but have to use a separate play button.

The note repeat and beat setting are co-dependent but their interaction with each other is not well thought out. When the note repeat forces increase of steps of the pattern it is not reflected in the numbers shown under the “beat”. It also isn’t immediately obvious and intuitive what is going to happen with the existing notes once the pattern length is decreased.

No live pattern inserting other than through note repeat and with somewhat hidden piano keyboard page. Steps can be created live in this mode and the pitch of each step be distinct, but once the step is created you have to navigate away to the main page to remove individual notes, the only option is to remove all notes.

There’s no metronome in this app, or maybe I can’t find it. Sure, you could just use one track and quickly put some hi hat steps in it to act as a metronome.

Resetting a pattern resets everything and removes assigned sample. There should be a button for clearing just the sequencer steps.

There does not seem to be a way to put triplets into the pattern nor any kind of swing/shuffle mode which would help make the pattern sound less mechanical.

Samples list has a preview “play” button that is too small so it’s easy to select it instead.

When starting a new project there does not seem to be a way to load entire kit into the pads , samples have to be loaded individually which is time consuming.

Samples collection is not great but since the app can record its own samples, this is not that big of a deal. Samples recording is probably the only feature that works in a user friendly way, so is sample management.

The selection of kits available for purchase is not great either, but hopefully will grow overtime.

Overall, a pretty boring sequencer, not innovative and like hundreds of other step sequencers already available.

The developer’s attitude is on a defensive side which is always bad and does not promise app improvements.

### 5/5 — Bought pro right out of the gate

*2020-07-14*

As a bona fide iOS app addict, ios beta tester (audio, video, audio for ten years) and supporter of ALL apps made with AudioKit I have to say that this app is pretty good.
I was teetering on buying the pro version until I threw it on one of my iPads but after using it for about 15 minutes on an iPhone I figured what the hey I’ll just grab it now. So far I’m glad I did.

Upon creating a little sequence with the basic drum samples preloaded and throwing in a sample that I liked...I realized that this is pretty easy to use and I like how it handles samples- so far...

I think it has room to grow in the effects department though. Other than that top notch. I would totally suggest this to anyone any day of the week..

Fyi-update- if you add a synth sample to one of the pacs then you CAN tweak the effects like CRAZY!

It is pretty in depth and totally worth pro.
Only thing that is needed is a better tutorial to show off the totally killer synth effects! Woo hoo!

**Developer response:** Thank you for your great review!

### 1/5 — price concerns

*2026-04-17*

why do we have to pay for the auv3 plugin

### 1/5 — Social media

*2026-03-05*

I saw it on instagram and thought it would be good it freeze a lot and its not worth the hype tried getting a refund and they refused

### 1/5 — complete crash out in AUM

*2025-11-27*

cant open any saved
projects in AUM. instant crash. literally cant use the app as AU3

**Developer response:** Issue should be fixed in Version 2.1.0. Please update and try again.

### 1/5 — Needs development

*2025-11-02*

Needs last step function for polyrhythm. Undo button. Some good tutorial videos online. Then I would give a 4 or 5 star . Can’t get arp to work

**Developer response:** Last Step function has been added in Version 2.1.3. You can find the documentation here: https://hypertron-instrument.com/documentation

### 1/5 — Auv3 doesn’t work

*2025-05-30*

Paid for the auv3 upgrade but it wont work in Logic Pro.

**Developer response:** Issue has been adressed and fixed in version 2.0.6.

### 1/5 — What a waste of time.

*2022-11-06, version 1.1.6*

App seemed great, made a little beat I was happy with but the app crashes any time I attempt to save or open a file. Totally unusable

### 1/5 — Not worth the effort on an iPhone 12.

*2022-07-08*

Running on iOS is one thing. To be actually usable on it, 95% of the apps fail at..,just like this one. Big disappointment.

**Developer response:** Why, what's the problem? It works just fine on my iPhone 12.

Edit:
- If you don‘t tell developers which problems
you encounter then there is no chance that they can improve their products
- What kind of „effort“ are you talking about? The app can be downloaded for free.
- If you think that 95% of all apps fail, then maybe the problem isn‘t all these apps..

### 1/5 — Paid For Pro

*2020-11-30*

I just paid 5 bucks for the pro version but it doesn’t work. Can’t use any of the features like import export etc. Where is this pro version I paid for and what should I do ?

**Developer response:** You can restore your purchase by going into the sample store. Scroll down to the bottom, click on „restore purchases“ and log in with your Apple ID. Your internet connection needs to be up and running. You can also try to purchase a PRO account again. If you have successfully bought a PRO account before, you‘ll not be charged again. If the problem continues, please send a mail to:
info@hypertron-instrument.com

### 1/5 — Paid for It now give me the features

*2020-11-17*

Paid and was charged for the Pro version but still stuck with the free version. Give me what I paid for or give me a refund. Til this is settled 1 star.

### 1/5 — iPad Air 2 not supported?

*2020-08-31, version 1.1.1*

Don't see why, as it works fine for 100% of all other musical apps in the appstore. This is the first app I have ever downloaded that says that this device is not supported. It may not technically be a 5th gen. as it was was made before 2017, but it it certainly not a 4th gen. either. If Apple iOS 13 and ALL of the other apps I use support this model, and it works fine, then I don't see why this app objects. App deleted.

Reviewer response to developer:

Yes, it may seem unfair to you, but then think about the users who have to put up with this annoying & useless message that gets displayed not just once, but EVERYTIME we start the app up. For exactly what reason could a tablet over 3 years old be deemed to be unsupported just to run this particular music app?

Sorry, but I take a dim view to this kind of casual attitude to premature hardware obsolescence. We have enough planned obsolescence coming from Apple themselves, without developers joining in and encouraging this practice, which ultimately leads to relatively recent and expensive technology becoming obsolete before it has served a full and useful life.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Developer really cares

*2026-03-19, version 2.1.1*

Had an issue and the developer was quick to react clearly cares about his product and the people who choose to use it.

### 5/5 — excellent app

*2026-02-11*

i like that it has a little bit of it’s own workflow. responsive developer. hope it will continue to get even more features.

**Developer response:** Thank you your positive feedback, much appreciated!

### 5/5 — Doctor Diction (producer/artist/engineer)

*2024-10-20*

Works like an MPC should easier though, user friendly but have to purchase the mpc library of sounds, thinking I may pick it up depending on pro costs!!

### 5/5 — Easy to understand, hard to put down.

*2024-06-28, version 1.1.9*

Firstly, if you've given a free app a one star review because it doesn't do what it says it won't then you need to get out more.

Anyway, I've just bought Prism and it's great but it's not as good as this. I got a beat started within 2 minutes of opening this. What else do you need to know? Go make some music.

Thanks Hypertron!

### 5/5 — So cool and intuitive

*2022-08-11*

Amazing sampler, very intuitive and easy to use. Definitely worth it. I love the synthesizer in combination with the arpeggiator. Highly recommended.

### 5/5 — Tend to try different things, makes beat making fresh again

*2022-05-16*

This is not my number one go to that would be auxey but I’m so thankful to use it and explore how it influences my workflow, stellar work on this beast of a Groovebox that to me was completely intuitive yet I had never worked on or thought of beats in the exact way this is approaching Rhythm and melody.

**Developer response:** Thank you for this awesome review!

### 5/5 — My favorite groovebox on iOS.

*2022-01-08*

This is a really great, super immediate groovebox. The parameter sequencing is a ton of fun and the layout is just excellent. It’s not quite the most feature-rich of the grooveboxes on iOS, but for me it’s the most fun, and you get the most for your money.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. I‘m happy to hear that you like it.

### 5/5 — Almost perfect, but needs a randomizer feature like the play beat

*2021-04-16*

Good day to you. I just want you say that this app is almost the perfect daw for live improvisational music, but its missing one major feature that will make it complete, and that is the option to randomly create beats like the app called “play beat” in the App Store. Please check out that amazing app, and add their randomizer feature as soon as possible. If you can’t add that feature, is it possible to allow play beat to connect to Hypertron so the sounds from play beats can record directly into Hypertron as samples? Please get back in touch as soon as possible, thanks.

Thanks for your reply. How do i access the arpeggiator? And how do i allow the recorded sample from mic to be launched as a clip, but stop after i press stop? I noticed that the recorded samples will continue to play even after i press stop.

The app i was referring to is called playbeat in the App Store.

**Developer response:** Hello. Thank you for your positive feedback. While I‘m not familiar with the app you mentioned, the Hypertron does have a randomize option inside the arpeggiator. More randomize functions will come in the future. At this point you can connect the Hypertron with other apps via Ableton Link and Audiobus. You can also import wav files inside the filebrowser ( available in the PRO version ). Visit hypertron-instrument.com/documentation for more information.

### 5/5 — Absolutely Brilliant!

*2020-12-30, version 1.1.1*

This app deserves some recognition. I have been using various music making software and hardware for many years and can say without hesitation that this is truly spectacular. This is my fourth attempt at writing a review for this app, why? I do not know, but believe me, it’s the first, last and only app I would try so many times for! It has all I ask for, and more, in a sampler and sequencer. The workflow is absolutely spot on, it’s enjoyable and creative. Absolutely love it! Thanks you. Please keep it updated! I was very close to giving up music making before this came along. Believe me when I say, this is truly exceptional. It has a flow that is unrivalled, period. It takes a great deal to impress me, I’m sure you can tell that Hypertron most definitely has, and some!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2020-11-20*

Great app, easy to use and fun. Make sure to get pro for added features
