Nostalgic, but repetitive *2025-11-17, version 1.2.3* 7-8/10! :D I played this game when I was younger and was looking for it for years, and honestly now that I’ve played it again, it lives up to my memory. It’s a bit shocking how much I was actually able to remember. As for the game itself, it’s pretty fun! The story is charming but surprisingly dark, and even though I didn’t exactly like the characters, it was still a nice quaint little experience. The puzzles were the best part, but the replayability of this game is when things start to fall flat. The idea of having to catch bugs wasn’t that bad the first or second time, but this game has 5 endings. Having to click the fart ability over and over again just to be able to get enough bugs was grueling, and most of the choices that changed what ending you got were at the end of the game. So that means doing the same puzzles over and over again, and soon the game just becomes a tapping simulator. I ended up giving up after getting 3 endings even though I wanted to get them all just because of how much I had to trudge through 90% of it. Overall, I enjoyed this game, and not just because of nostalgia reasons. Sure, this obscure little app has a special place in my heart because younger me somehow found it and played it, but the story and puzzles are just as good as I remember them. I kinda wish the characters were a bit better, but they were cool too! The only thing that really ruined my experience was the gameplay, which I’m sure they improved on in the second and third installments. This game is potentially inappropriate for children under thirteen, as it includes some disturbing images and story elements. I really love dogs, so I was really surprised and upset when I found the dead puppy in a flower pot a few hours into gameplay. The game, although somewhat interesting, is tedious, and repetitive. I spent probably half the game trying to eat enough dog food so that I could actually understand the other dogs. The hint feature is nice, but the ads are long. Upon dying, I was forced to start the game over (I still had my stats though, which was nice). But again, it's more farting to catch bugs and barking to eat food. That isn't 5 star gameplay, at all. I honestly wouldn't recommend this game to anyone. It's okay at best. ### 3/5 — Thrilling, but has clunky controls and can get repetitive after a while *2026-08-04, version 1.2.3* “I Became a Dog” is a fast-paced, surprisingly morbid, short-story game with several endings. Every decision you make consequentially contributes to how the story will end, which can simultaneously make you feel excited, thrilled, and somewhat unsure of how the ending will rule out. Trying to reach all endings can feel repetitive and boring, since the dialogue and general storyline are fixed. Additionally, after you upgrade every perk to the max, there’s not much point in getting more cockroaches. The controls are clunky. You don’t have a joystick and instead have to tap to move. Sometimes you can also occasionally skip over dialogue if you tap the chat bubble. (This problem is fixed in the later games) The characters are funny and memorable, though, as previously mentioned, have fixed dialogue. I Became a Dog is a good game to pick up if you want a quick play, but I wouldn’t recommend it if you prefer longer, more varied gameplay. ### 3/5 — It very hard to catch bugs. *2024-01-26, version 1.2.3* 300 bugs omg!
