Will be great to use with one of my patients who has very funky errors on vowel sounds. I often use apps "off label" (outside the original intent of the app.... find lots of great uses for apps by thinking outside the box). So glad to have discovered this app :) ### 5/5 — Engaging phonics app. *2015-10-28* Many students at our school are choosing to use 'i Can Spell with Phonics' as a free choice activity at Computer Club at lunch and recess times. They find the app fun and engaging as they learn to spell new words. At first they match the letters by colour, but as they have more practice and become more confident, they no longer need the colour prompts. There is a good progression from 3 letter words to digraphs where the letters are chunked in colour to help with spelling. The clear photographs support ESL learners as they learn new vocabulary. Words are used in the context of a sentence to reinforce the importance of making meaning. The sentence also includes the written and verbal word to spell. Students enjoy the choice of two activities to reinforce spelling. There is just the right amount of support and prompts.
