Had one in Elec Eng university course and have missed it ever since. Well done to the developer and thanks for keeping it maintained. ### 4/5 — Latest Update Caused Problems - Now Fixed! *2020-10-09* UPDATE - The display issue from v7.6.1 is fixed - via 7.6.2. The calc is now back to the great tool that it has been for quite a while and I look forward to continuing to use it for another few years. Thanks. PRIOR - The most recent update may have made for compatibility with the latest iOS (I haven't tried it yet on my iPhone and likely won't based on this experience) but it no longer works on my iPad that has an older iOS. The background graphics no longer scale up to the screen size so the touch points for the calc do not agree with the visual indications for the buttons. Avoid this version. Wait until it is fixed if you have an iPad with an older iOS. ### 5/5 — Update 7.6.2 *2020-10-09* Auf iPad nach dem Update wilde Zuordnung der Tasten. Keine gezielte Eingabe mehr möglich. I wrote nearly 200 programs on that calculator. It got me through engineering school, taking the PE, working on the Hubble, B2, and 7x7s. I’m glad to have it back, even just as a calculator. I had an HP 41C, which got stolen :0( and this is a brilliant replacement at a fraction of the cost... the only thing I’d like to see would be the display of the Y, Z and T registers one above the other like on the HP 48SX’s extended display. Maybe that could be implemented in a skin? It just wouldn’t be the same without emulating the case, the ports everything. My days studying engineering at Uni introduced me to the ways of RPN when Hewlett Packard first released this iconic scientific/engineering range of calculators. This app reminds me so vividly of the numerous times that the calculator was in my possession and it has been revived for me on my iPhone and iPad. It is a stellar tool that is reliable, aesthetically extremely pleasing and above all else, translates to the Apple platform, exactly what I experienced using the real product made by HP! I note with interest and agree also, that the price for the privilege of enabling a number of significant features is a testament to the developer. To make available wonderful add-ons that fully utilise the most powerful and useful mechanisms available for all users and especially so for engineers and professionals wanting to keep alive this unique style of computing technology in the palm of your hand - all at a reasonable and value-packed pricing structure. Thanks ### 1/5 — No Documentation *2013-10-15, version 5.9.12* A blast from the past that should have stayed there. If you like RPN calculators, there are others that have more documentation than reference to an archival site with scanned pages of original manuals. For those who used to use these remembering those days is more useful that this app. I'm very disappointed with the app. Use it for 10 minutes before I deleted it (and that's where it will stay). ### 2/5 — Poor implementation *2021-08-05* Functional, but barely. More about nostalgia. For example, could not figure out how to switch between the degrees and radians mode and had to look up arcana on the Internet (EXQ ALPHA R A D ALPHA, if you’re interested) when a complete and proper user guide would have been so much useful! Heck with all the screen real-estate to spare, why not go so far as to make it user friendly! BTW the RND (round) function does not work, while FRC (fraction) does. Please fix this thing if you’re going to charge money for it! ### 2/5 — Lacking style and versatility *2012-11-28* The GUI is very coarse on retina display. It is still iPhone scale and does not use the iPad's full display to give quick access to all of the great functions. Most of the skins (after an extra 2.99 purchase) are very low-res and look like scanned and heavily compressed jpegs with compression artifacts. The only hi-res skin is poorly designed where buttons are indistinguishable from one another making it difficult to find the right one. Inverse pinching (to enlarge the the calculator image) resulted in "memory ..." flashing on LCD that would render any further calculations impossible and required a hard reset to fix. ### 2/5 — Confusing pricing *2012-04-17, version 4.9.8* They should be more clear that the modules are not available with the i41CX and you have to get the i41CX+ for the modules to work. Their product description for the i41CX indicates that you have access to all the HP modules. So I bought the basic version with an update for overlay. It turned out that all modular functions are NONEXISTENT unless you purchase the + version. I use an emmulator on my PC, but was challenged finding a good emmulator while on other mobile platforms. This is the first app I purchased once moving to IPhone in 2017 and I it's the only calculator I use.
