## What is Ibaloi Translator?

Free, offline dictionary and translator for the Ibaloi language — an endangered indigenous language of the Cordillera region in Benguet, Philippines.

This app puts a complete Ibaloi reference in your pocket. Fully usable without internet. No ads. No account required. No data collection.

WHAT YOU GET

• 1,600+ dictionary entries with English glosses, parts of speech, and example sentences
• Ibaloi to English and English to Ibaloi translation, working entirely on your device
• Pronunciation guide: vowels, diphthongs, consonants, and the glottal stop
• Personal pronoun paradigms (subjective, objective, possessive — singular and plural) with example sentences
• Demonstratives, interrogatives, days, months, hours, and time-related vocabulary
• Affix and inflection reference for understanding Ibaloi morphology

HOW TRANSLATION WORKS

The translator combines several offline tiers, picking the best available match every time:

• Hand-curated phrase templates for common conversational Ibaloi
• Verbatim and fuzzy matching
• Pronoun substitution
• Subset-overlap matching against a parallel corpus
• Word-by-word literal glossing as a fallback

WHY IT EXISTS

Ibaloi is one of the indigenous languages of the Cordillera Administrative Region, spoken primarily in Benguet province. UNESCO classifies it as endangered. Most younger Ibaloi descendants now grow up speaking Ilocano, English, or Tagalog, and access to dictionaries and language references is limited.

This app is a community project to make Ibaloi easier to look up, learn, and pass on — for elders, for diaspora, for linguistics students, and for anyone curious about the languages of the Philippine highlands.

PRIVACY

The app is fully offline. No sign-in, no analytics, no network calls, no data collection. Everything you search, translate, or look up stays on your device.

FEEDBACK

Spot a wrong gloss, missing word, or have a suggestion? Tap "Give feedback" on any screen. This is a community project — your input directly improves the dictionary for the next person.

part of your daily set, right alongside the word quiz.
• See your score when you finish the daily set, and a more forgiving streak.
• Guide: a new "Common phrases" section, and the full grammar & culture

• Accessibility and stability fixes.

### 1.2.0 — 2026-07-06

This update makes Ibaloi easier to learn and explore:

and the different ways to say "we".
- Smarter translations — more phrases recognized from real Ibaloi texts.

works anywhere, even with no signal.
