### 3/5 — Good, but flawed

*2023-12-11*

Probably the best app for reference and is genuinely really useful; however, the extensions just don’t work. I’ve been using the app for a few years now and, although the dev team informed me they were looking into bug fixes to get it all working (emailed me when I voiced me problems to them), nothing was ever fixed and there’s been radio silence since.
For the parts of the app that actually work, it’s good, so if you go for it, just get the base version.

### 3/5 — Overpriced abs basic

*2021-01-16, version 10.06*

£14.99, and then you have to pay another £14.99 if you want the journal component? Very unimpressed. Bird ID U.K. provides most of the features you need for £3.99, or you can eBird completely free.

### 3/5 — Very good app about North America Bird

*2020-06-25*

But i have some mistakes about bird names. I send you a email about this .today. my name is Peter Lane

### 4/5 — Top birding app

*2019-08-11*

Been a user for several years and I am well satisfied.
My favourite feature is the bird song & call clips. Improvements to audio clips are always welcome. Accepting common name searches is very good unlike other apps !

### 4/5 — Its one of the better apps for birding

*2019-05-06*

I tried a number of inexpensive apps and decided this was the most appropriate for me as a novice. I find the search facility really good and I think the sounds really help ID requirements.
I have written up some notes on various birds but it would be better if I could pull up a summary of all my notes, as I could then easily check what I had seen/heard in the last month/year etc.
Contrary to a number of reviewers I think this app is just fine.
R

### 3/5 — Handy app but a bit basic

*2019-03-26*

Overall a useful tool to have with me on my phone whilst birding. However a bit basic. More information and photos enabling distinction between male, female and juvenile, as well as summer/ winter/breeding plumage would be needed for me to give a higher rating for what is not exactly a cheap app. More illustrations and photos of birds in flight, both from above and underneath to see wing markings would be even more superb. These shortcomings are partly mitigated by the link to Flickr, which does provide you with lots of extra photos of the species you are looking for, just need to bear in mind that some of the identifications on Flickr may be incorrect.
So, dear developers, overall not a bad tool, but plenty of opportunity for you to make it brilliant! Keep going!

### 3/5 — iBirdUK

*2019-02-06*

Fairly good basic id information but a really good range of bird song /calls for each species.

### 2/5 — Does not link with iBird journal

*2018-10-13*

Very frustrating that it does not link to your lists and you have to enter every name as a “custom”. There is little online help with issues. Good for bird ID.

### 4/5 — Some missing

*2018-07-10, version 10.06*

There is good birds and all but some are missing like the ring billed gull the osprey needs markings on Ireland for migration

### 3/5 — Was better in the previous version

*2018-03-20*

First downloaded this a few years ago and still prefer the old format, nicer to work with, looked more professional, however I still have it and use it so it can’t all be bad, it just looked far better!

### 3/5 — Excellent

*2017-12-26*

One problem. The Birds Around Me (BAM) does not seem to be working properly. For instance, there are loads of Red Kites where I live but BAM eliminates them. I just don’t get it but otherwise the app is excellent.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Unsupported

*2026-01-24, version 10.06*

Do not make my mistake and purchase. Unsupported app

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2023-10-08*

Why after purchasing this app do I find all the adjoining websites and information are down with the excuse of « Being updated with new software » How long is available soon? Be wary before purchasing

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work and insufficient support

*2022-03-05, version 10.06*

Non responsive to taps. Can’t take tutorials cause they don’t work. No response from support.

### 1/5 — Pretty hopeless

*2020-03-01*

Not even as good as free apps. Implicated to use and not accurate. When looking for birds throws out ones with different colours for example. Not very comprehensive either. Better off buying the ladybird book of British birds. Waste of money

### 1/5 — BAM doesn’t work

*2019-05-14*

This app is ok, but not great, at bird ID. The images are misleading at times, and the information is sparse. I’m giving the one star rating because the developers are selling the BAM feature from the uk app and they know it’s broken. Simply doesn’t work.

### 1/5 — Disappointed with this expensive App

*2019-04-23, version 10.06*

Thought it would have bird song recognition but sadly not

### 1/5 — No update

*2017-03-05, version 6.1*

This expensive app hasn't been updated since 2013. My latest iPad is complaining.

### 2/5 — Search is non-intuitive

*2025-06-27, version 10.06*

New user. Failing to use search satisfactorily for obvious birds. Disappointed

### 2/5 — Disappointed !

*2023-12-08*

App is missing several birds regularly seen here. Great Egret, Glossy Ibis.. app needs to be updated to match reality.

### 2/5 — Does NOT work with journal

*2019-06-06*

This is a potentially excellent application which I have been using for several years, however, the app advertises integration with Journal which just does not work. Make sure you do not waste your money thinking that it does. This is blatant marketing lying.

### 5/5 — iBird apps the Best

*2025-06-12*

I own iBird Pro, iBird Hawaii, iBird UK Pro Guides to Birds, iBird Journal and they are the BEST. Never carry a printed guide again. I have shared viewing of my app on adventure hiking with others and they are always impressed & plan to get them to use. Thanks iBird for fantastic APPS and lightening our load!

### 5/5 — Excellent bird ID for sights & sounds

*2021-05-18*

### 5/5 — BirdUK

*2020-06-06*

This app is very easy to use and contains a wealth of information.

The birdsongs sounds facility is particularly good and I have largely replaced my books with the app while outside with my binoculars.

I’ve used BirdUK for several years now and can thoroughly recommend it.

### 5/5 — Pleased

*2020-04-22*

Excellent!

### 5/5 — Very Handy

*2019-04-18*

This is a very useful app that I love using in general when looking at the birds. It helps you to identify the more unusual birds and is marvellous if you see a bird that is not quite what you expect.

### 5/5 — Love this app

*2019-04-05*

I find this a very handy app when out and about . It’s easy to find what you’re looking for. Some people complain they want more info - but I feel that for me there is almost everything I need. Where I want more info I use reference books at home.

### 5/5 — Pied Flycatcher
