I’ve been using the app for a few years now and, although the dev team informed me they were looking into bug fixes to get it all working (emailed me when I voiced me problems to them), nothing was ever fixed and there’s been radio silence since. For the parts of the app that actually work, it’s good, so if you go for it, just get the base version. ### 3/5 — Overpriced abs basic *2021-01-16, version 10.06* £14.99, and then you have to pay another £14.99 if you want the journal component? Very unimpressed. My favourite feature is the bird song & call clips. Improvements to audio clips are always welcome. Accepting common name searches is very good unlike other apps ! ### 4/5 — Its one of the better apps for birding *2019-05-06* I tried a number of inexpensive apps and decided this was the most appropriate for me as a novice. I find the search facility really good and I think the sounds really help ID requirements. I have written up some notes on various birds but it would be better if I could pull up a summary of all my notes, as I could then easily check what I had seen/heard in the last month/year etc. Contrary to a number of reviewers I think this app is just fine. R ### 3/5 — Handy app but a bit basic *2019-03-26* Overall a useful tool to have with me on my phone whilst birding. However a bit basic. More information and photos enabling distinction between male, female and juvenile, as well as summer/ winter/breeding plumage would be needed for me to give a higher rating for what is not exactly a cheap app. More illustrations and photos of birds in flight, both from above and underneath to see wing markings would be even more superb. These shortcomings are partly mitigated by the link to Flickr, which does provide you with lots of extra photos of the species you are looking for, just need to bear in mind that some of the identifications on Flickr may be incorrect. So, dear developers, overall not a bad tool, but plenty of opportunity for you to make it brilliant! There is little online help with issues. The Birds Around Me (BAM) does not seem to be working properly. For instance, there are loads of Red Kites where I live but BAM eliminates them. When looking for birds throws out ones with different colours for example. Not very comprehensive either. Better off buying the ladybird book of British birds. I’m giving the one star rating because the developers are selling the BAM feature from the uk app and they know it’s broken. Make sure you do not waste your money thinking that it does. Never carry a printed guide again. I have shared viewing of my app on adventure hiking with others and they are always impressed & plan to get them to use.
