## What is iBlueButton®?

iBlueButton, an AI-assistant technology, has been designed to specifically serve Medicare beneficiaries, Veterans, Americans receiving care from the nearly 400 healthcare systems and thousands of physician offices. With iBlueButton, you have in your hands at all times your medical information to better manage your healthcare, avoid preventable medical errors, and receive safer and more effective care.

iBlueButton is the three-time winner of the HHS Industry Innovation competition for its Blue Button program, and was the first mobile application approved by CMS for Americans covered by Medicare to make use of their Blue Button data.

For Medicare beneficiaries along with their approved caregivers, iBlueButton lets you login into your account at MyMedicare.gov and retrieve your medical history. Using our AI-assistant technology, your health information is automatically translated on your device from your Medicare claim information into an organized medical history in all of its useful details.

When accessing VA or your other healthcare provider health records, iBlueButton additionally displays your lab results in organized lab panels with indication of normal ranges and graphs so that you can see lab value trends overtime. To get more information for each laboratory test, iBlueButton provides one-tap look ups through Medline Plus, a service of the National Library of Medicine.

- ALL IN YOUR HANDS so you can KILL THE CLIPBOARD
iBlueButton pulls and organizes multiple records into a single, AI-generated Summary Record, with all critical information in easy to view sections (medications, conditions, laboratory test results, etc.) and your detailed medical history (physician visits, hospitalizations, etc.). This Summary Record is available at all times to review, research, share, print and annotate critical health information. iBlueButton’s on device architecture fosters privacy and security and allows for data to be accessible even if you are not connected to the Internet.

- PERSONALIZED SAFETY WARNINGS & CARE GUIDELINES
Whether it is about the medications you currently take, a new one recently prescribed, an existing or new condition, iBlueButton uses AI to generate personalized safety warnings and best care practices based on well-established guidelines. iBlueButton also offers COVID-19 related alerts, including an alert if you are at risk of severe COVID-19 infection, and an alert about eligibility to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The information provided by the iBlueButton app including medication safety warnings and care guidelines is intended for informational purposes only and should not be considered a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Always consult with a qualified healthcare provider before making any changes to your medications, treatment plans, or personal health management.

- LIFE AND COST SAVING
On average every year, a Medicare beneficiary sees seven different physicians and most of the time any one of these physicians will not have a view of the full medical history of their patients, which can be the cause of medical errors, unnecessary tests, and avoidable healthcare expenses. Veterans and military personnel & their families experience these same healthcare issues, as their care takes place not only in VA and military health facilities, but also in the private sector. iBlueButton helps you prevent dangerous medical errors by having with you your critical medical history.

- SECURE AND PRIVATE
Unlike most personal health applications, iBlueButton stores your information securely encrypted on your own mobile device. Under your sole control, your health information is retrieved by your app from the data source and goes directly on your device where it is securely stored. None of your personal data is processed or stored in the cloud or seen by Humetrix.

### 1/5 — No Medicare records after 2019

*2025-09-15, version 8.48*

What? Is something broken ?
My records show nothing after 2019!

### 1/5 — Tricare doesn’t work

*2024-02-03, version 8.47*

Tricare access on this hasn’t worked in over a year. It doesn't seem like the developers care about this function. They should remove it as an option if they don't plan to actually support it.

### 3/5 — Where’s the practical value?

*2022-04-09, version 8.45*

I downloaded this app this morning and so far I’m not very impressed. There is just way too much information to be useful and no way to resolve mistakes.

i.e., my pcp and cardiologist both reported a list of medications. (I assume that’s where a lot of the duplicates originated). The list goes on to include a literal ton of single dose meds that were apparently administered during an outpatient surgery I received a few years ago. I took the time to click each toggle indicating their ‘not current’ status but that wasn’t enough to keep them off the test report I exported to myself.

The bottom line is that my small number of current medications were reported in just less than 3 full pages of irrelevant data. Conveying information to a new provider through this app is truly like trying to drink from a firehose.

Another issue are the errors that show up in the original medical records. Naturally you’d expect them to be repeated within the app but wouldn’t it be nice if the user had the ability to make notes to identify such problems as they are discovered. (Yes, I routinely report discrepancies to the various doctors but apparently the corrections didn’t actually find their way into their files.) Part of the appeal of this app is the promise of empowerment. All I see here is a regurgitation of consolidated data. I suppose that it’s better than nothing.

No wonder the medical profession is in a mess.

### 1/5 — Pretty disappointing App

*2021-04-30, version 8.42*

Spent hours trying to make this useful to me. Tried both the IOS and the Android app. Would like to have Tricare record available. On IOS it gets stuck attempting log-in. I doubt it is server access as I have successfully logged in the Tricare 5 different times this AM from my desktop and my Android phone. Some problem with the IOS app. It is now stuck “logging in” no button push to cancel will respond.
On Android I was eventually able to access some data, but not from a download on phone. Had to download xml on desktop, email to my phone, then move xml file into download. Then I created a new profile so I could import the downloaded xml. That gave me data in the profile, but only medications, conditions, and providers.
FAQ are not really helpful. On Android I get stuck on pages and have to quit the app. No back out button.
I am not impressed.

### 1/5 — USELESS BLOATWARE

*2020-06-17, version 8.35*

Does not work with Medicare, VA, or Tricare!
The list of FAQs associated with this app outlines the countless difficulties users have with this app! Last update wiped out all my VA, Tricare, Medicare records; requiring me to start all over again! This app does not aggregate all the government medical records! What it is able to download, after numerous frustrating tries, is incomplete records. Numerous missing items like documented allergies, out patient visits! It's simply a wasteful million dollar front interface to individual government websites that is VA, Tricare, Medicare. Absolutely confusing mess of an app. Bloatware! Requiring me to generate new profiles; no thanks! This app absolutely useless. No help to all tax payers, veterans, and service members!

### 1/5 — Junk app

*2020-04-30, version 8.35*

This App is junk just like everything else the government is in charge of. It’s full of bugs. It’s obvious that it was never tested prior to releasing. I would never trust to have my medical records on this junk. I can been get it to accept user name and password

### 4/5 — Old records

*2020-02-03, version 8.27*

I need records from 20 years ago and was told from multiple sources that Blue Button can help.

What am I doing wrong?

### 4/5 — Compatible with VA

*2019-12-06, version 8.26*

Downloaded this since the VA and Tricare don’t interface with Apple Health directly and was pleasantly surprised. The app synced easily with the VA records system. Wasn’t able to test Tricare since Tricare is down (go figure). Apple health integration works well too. Good app to maintain your medical records if you use Medicare/VA/Apple Health. But not Tricare, because reasons.

### 5/5 — Finally made easy!

*2019-08-21, version 8.21*

A very useful app to stay on top of your medical care!

### 1/5 — No EOB Claim Detail

*2019-08-16*

EOB Claim Detail is available on the Medicare site but not accessed and gathered here. Can’t use this app to check hospital and other provider billing.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your updated review. You are correct in that we do not display billing / EOB information which you can find on Medicare.gov. iBlueButton has been designed to provide its users a meaningful summary medical history by translating Medicare billing information into a detailed and actionable medical history with insights and individual safety warnings so that they can receive safer healthcare.
