### 3/5 — Where’s the practical value?

*2022-04-09, version 8.45*

I downloaded this app this morning and so far I’m not very impressed. There is just way too much information to be useful and no way to resolve mistakes.

i.e., my pcp and cardiologist both reported a list of medications. (I assume that’s where a lot of the duplicates originated). The list goes on to include a literal ton of single dose meds that were apparently administered during an outpatient surgery I received a few years ago. I took the time to click each toggle indicating their ‘not current’ status but that wasn’t enough to keep them off the test report I exported to myself.

The bottom line is that my small number of current medications were reported in just less than 3 full pages of irrelevant data. Conveying information to a new provider through this app is truly like trying to drink from a firehose.

Another issue are the errors that show up in the original medical records. Naturally you’d expect them to be repeated within the app but wouldn’t it be nice if the user had the ability to make notes to identify such problems as they are discovered. (Yes, I routinely report discrepancies to the various doctors but apparently the corrections didn’t actually find their way into their files.) Part of the appeal of this app is the promise of empowerment. All I see here is a regurgitation of consolidated data. I suppose that it’s better than nothing.

No wonder the medical profession is in a mess.

### 4/5 — Old records

*2020-02-03, version 8.27*

I need records from 20 years ago and was told from multiple sources that Blue Button can help.

What am I doing wrong?

### 4/5 — Compatible with VA

*2019-12-06, version 8.26*

Downloaded this since the VA and Tricare don’t interface with Apple Health directly and was pleasantly surprised. The app synced easily with the VA records system. Wasn’t able to test Tricare since Tricare is down (go figure). Apple health integration works well too. Good app to maintain your medical records if you use Medicare/VA/Apple Health. But not Tricare, because reasons.

### 2/5 — Let down

*2019-02-21, version 8.05*

This is a great idea in theory, but it won’t log into Tricare online. It gets stuck at logging in. I’ve literally let it sit for 30mins and it did nothing. Hope they fix it.

### 5/5 — I like it

*2019-01-08, version 8.0*

Just got the update and my Mom’s Medicare record looks great! App also seems zippier with this update.

### 5/5 — Nurse approved

*2018-02-24, version 7.10*

As a nurse, I find this app incredibly useful. To have all of a patient’s medications in one place is a real lifesaver. I treat a lot of Medicare beneficiaries and I’ll be spreading the word about this.

### 5/5 — Medicare record works great

*2018-02-24, version 7.10*

Recently became a Medicare beneficiary. Heard about this and tried it and got my Medicare record. Working great so far!

### 1/5 — Crashy, user-hostile garbage

*2016-11-30, version 7.06*

This app is terrible -- it crashes all the time, and is pretty much impossible to use because of brain-dead design decisions.

### 1/5 — The Worst App EVER

*2016-07-07, version 7.06*

I have tried twice to make this app do what it says it will do, without any success. Can't even set up a profile that doesn't immediately disappear. Interface is not the least bit intuitive. I question whether any of the 5-star reviews are by real people not affiliated with the developer. I have downloaded hundreds of apps and used them successfully. I've never paid more for an app than what I paid for this. Totally disappointed. Please save your money.

### 1/5 — Beware: Doesnt sync with any insurance or doctors offices

*2016-03-27, version 7.05*

Great concept but Very limited network. Mainly for vets. Syncs with 5 things: VA, aetna, medicare. No hospital networks or insurance like BCBS. Cant see how to enter results manually. I want my money back.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — No Medicare records after 2019

*2025-09-15, version 8.48*

What? Is something broken ?
My records show nothing after 2019!

### 1/5 — Tricare doesn’t work

*2024-02-03, version 8.47*

Tricare access on this hasn’t worked in over a year. It doesn't seem like the developers care about this function. They should remove it as an option if they don't plan to actually support it.

### 1/5 — Pretty disappointing App

*2021-04-30, version 8.42*

Spent hours trying to make this useful to me. Tried both the IOS and the Android app. Would like to have Tricare record available. On IOS it gets stuck attempting log-in. I doubt it is server access as I have successfully logged in the Tricare 5 different times this AM from my desktop and my Android phone. Some problem with the IOS app. It is now stuck “logging in” no button push to cancel will respond.
On Android I was eventually able to access some data, but not from a download on phone. Had to download xml on desktop, email to my phone, then move xml file into download. Then I created a new profile so I could import the downloaded xml. That gave me data in the profile, but only medications, conditions, and providers.
FAQ are not really helpful. On Android I get stuck on pages and have to quit the app. No back out button.
I am not impressed.

### 1/5 — USELESS BLOATWARE

*2020-06-17, version 8.35*

Does not work with Medicare, VA, or Tricare!
The list of FAQs associated with this app outlines the countless difficulties users have with this app! Last update wiped out all my VA, Tricare, Medicare records; requiring me to start all over again! This app does not aggregate all the government medical records! What it is able to download, after numerous frustrating tries, is incomplete records. Numerous missing items like documented allergies, out patient visits! It's simply a wasteful million dollar front interface to individual government websites that is VA, Tricare, Medicare. Absolutely confusing mess of an app. Bloatware! Requiring me to generate new profiles; no thanks! This app absolutely useless. No help to all tax payers, veterans, and service members!

### 1/5 — Junk app

*2020-04-30, version 8.35*

This App is junk just like everything else the government is in charge of. It’s full of bugs. It’s obvious that it was never tested prior to releasing. I would never trust to have my medical records on this junk. I can been get it to accept user name and password

### 1/5 — No EOB Claim Detail

*2019-08-16*

EOB Claim Detail is available on the Medicare site but not accessed and gathered here. Can’t use this app to check hospital and other provider billing.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your updated review. You are correct in that we do not display billing / EOB information which you can find on Medicare.gov. iBlueButton has been designed to provide its users a meaningful summary medical history by translating Medicare billing information into a detailed and actionable medical history with insights and individual safety warnings so that they can receive safer healthcare. If you need further assistance, please contact our support line at 888-702-2227 or vial email at ibb.support@humetrix.com.

### 1/5 — No access to TRICARE for life

*2019-04-20, version 8.1*

Unfortunately this application is not ready for prime time. It does not allow for updating of blue button information. It does not correctly import information from my Medicare.com. None of my current medications or allergies were imported. None of the claim information was updated.

### 1/5 — Worthless

*2017-12-26, version 7.09*

This app is worthless for personal medical history. It doesn’t store near enough information to make it worth $0.99 let alone a whopping $15. You can’t add when you started or stopped medication. There’s no place for dates of anything. There’s really no place for previous surgeries, dates and notes about the procedures and outcome. You can download from just a few sources if by chance your physician happens to subscribe to the service.
Wasted my money. You’d be better off spending the money trying out 4 or 5 other apps that at least have fields to input data that you really need when you see a doctor or go to a hospital and they need your medical history when your in severe pain or have to remember years back.

### 1/5 — Not worth it

*2017-04-01, version 7.07*

I can't even get it to download from one of the four EMR platforms for which it was designed. I want my money back.

### 1/5 — Essentially Abandonware

*2017-01-18, version 7.06*

the last update as of this post was at the end of may of last year, frequently crashes, I regret ever paying for the app, it DOES NOT connect with Apple Healthkit as a data source... (you'd think you could/should but it doesn't).

Worthless app. You'd think at 15 bucks they'd actually hire a developer to maintain the app but nope.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Finally made easy!

*2019-08-21, version 8.21*

A very useful app to stay on top of your medical care!

### 5/5 — Very helpful

*2019-06-07, version 8.20*

Really well-designed. Especially useful for caregivers with parents on Medicare.

### 5/5 — Nice!

*2019-02-07, version 8.02*

Slick app that makes it fast and was to get my medical records. Well organized too!

### 5/5 — Great App

*2019-02-06, version 8.02*

Very functional app, tracks all the medical info you need in one place at your finger tips. MedLine Plus is integrated offering great info on medical conditions and drugs, alerts are great for highlighting potential issues. Highly recommend for tracking own health data or if you are a care giver for a Medicare, VA or Tricare patient

### 5/5 — Critical for your health

*2019-01-29, version 8.02*

This app downloads my Medicare claim data and presents its analysis of all my aggregated conditions and medications. Medical history and information about each of 8 physicians and many other providers in a user-friendly display. When applicable, care guidelines for best practices are indicated for individual conditions and medication safety warnings are also flagged. This helps to focus my limited time during a visit to ask the important questions of my physicians. This is an essential app for Medicare patients.

### 5/5 — Big Update

*2019-01-14, version 8.01*

I'm very happy to see all the work done to improve this app. Nice to see more data from my medicare record and new warnings showing about my meds. I am by no means a medical expert so it is great to have an app like this to provide me with useful information when I talk with my doctor.

### 5/5 — Nice update!

*2019-01-12, version 8.01*

Just got the new update...excellent job. Still loving this app.

### 5/5 — Keeps all the easily overlooked details in order

*2019-01-08, version 8.0*

This app has been a massive help—my mother (who’s on Medicare) has been dealing with chronic health issues, which means lots of doctors and lots of medications. I live out of state, which makes it extremely difficult for me to keep track of what’s going on; iBlueButton keeps all of her doctors’ contact info in one place, should a crisis situation occur. Plus, it keeps all her meds listed in a format she can show to a new specialist, to make sure she’s not given anything that will react poorly with the meds she’s already on. (For new users—the app also reviews the list of current medications, to see if any might be causing adverse reactions and complicating treatment.)
Having a sick parent is hard no matter what, but it’s much easier to deal with when you’re not having to prompt them for details they’d rather not think about.

### 5/5 — Lightning Speed and User Friendly

*2019-01-08, version 8.0*

Such a great app to have to best manage your medical care! All the medical information is organized in an easy way to find and research. I really like the new medication safety warnings which now come with it. A must have for those on the go and more than one Doctor. In an emergency, my medical records can be accessed immediately.

### 5/5 — Neat Update

*2019-01-08, version 8.0*

The new warnings are really helpful and have lots of good information.
